I think we've long surpassed the Yugoslav conflict in terms of both casualties and intensity.
[Edit. And a quick Googling seems to confirm the casualty statement. The intensity statement is self-evident]
Daily mail readers in 3..2..1..
That depends on from what viewpoint you want to look at any conflict. While casualties of military personnel may be higher in current russia ukraine conflict (we do not know real numbers as both sides report vastly different numbers for obvious reasons) this conflict is relatively small when compared to civilian casualties which are vastly different compared to a number of other recent conflicts.
Wow, a new way to say that Russia ain’t that bad. Congratulations, but it doesn’t work.
That may be your opinion, not mine. I have no idea what in your mind works or not, and frankly I do not care much. War is always bad and in my opinion all parties who resort to this are are bad.
Can't believe Europe only 80 years after the Nazis were defeated finds it's best tanks held hostage by the Germans. They make the money from selling them and then later do their best to help the Russian Nazis.
They won't hold out forever but every week they do Putin will be grateful. Ideally they'd hold out until mid summer before Ukraine get leopard's so by the time they're all trained the autumn mud season hits and they're forced to wait until summer 2024 to attack.
Hopefully Poland and a few countries force their hand. And those saying why should Germany approve unless America does. Because economically it makes far more sense to send German then Abrams.
I don't think America are too bothered either way because the longer this war lasts the more Russia will suffer militarily and economically and the more the American military economy booms.
Strange you admit to uncertainty re military but not civilian...
We dont know the full civilian toll of the war eg in places occupied by Russia.
The main point is that it is already a major military conflict.
All parties so do you include Ukraine as one of these parties? Defending itself v Russia?
If so it is morally bankrupt nonsense.
That will be interesting, there's a major Ukrainian assault coming as well.
What part of every war is bad you cant understand?
Can the other 92% be named. It might sway my position when I am buying something .
So I guess this weekend's distraction attempt is "it's not really a major conflict". I don't think it's going to work.
Wars are bad it does not mean all parties to it are in the wrong.
What part of Ukraine is entitled to defend itself do you not understand?
To claim that Ukraine is as bad as Russia in such circumstances is completely without merit or foundation. You cannot rationally support this position except with conspiracy theory rantings and meaningless slogans.
Your positon is therefore morally and intellectually bankrupt. What part of that do you not understand?
As a percentage of GDP, Germany's aid is pitiful.
Portugal has given more to Ukraine as a % of GDP - 0.15% vs 0.14%
Timberrrr has claimed that Ukrainians have been training on Challenger 2s in one of the baltic states for a while.
No cost, they just give it all back at the end /s
I think the €18 billion from the EU recently is 35 years to pay at no interest.
WTF is your angle? Countries actually bordering/nearer Russia/Belarus have given more in terms of their capacity to give, than Germany - Estonia, Latvia, Finland, Poland, they are not moving more carefully and they are being infinitely more generous compared to their resources.. The UK and Canada are knocking it out of the park. The UK has given the second most $value military aid to Ukraine after the US.
I'm catching up and I was a bit slow to realise it was a bot, which I usually try not to respond to as it's pointless and just ends up with pages of useless attempts to reason with an ant.
If one country attacks another, war is inevitable. Moaning about it and spouting pointless tripe like 'war is bad' is as pointless as pointing out the sky is blue when there are no clouds.
Ukraine did not want this war and neither did anyone else except it's instigators. Victim blaming?
Prigozhin's Wagner/bot financing is an intriguing topic.
There are apparently 50,000 Wagner mercs in Ukraine, there are some in the CAR syphoning as much gold as they can get. The gold is said to amount to $1b in revenue, so how much are these mercs being paid? They are getting $24k PA the wage bill for those in Ukraine alone would be $1.2b PA. He also runs the biggest bot farms.
No wonder he wants the mines in Bakhmut/Soledar. The catering business in Russia must pay well.
Russia the big strong men army has to resort to this cowardly tactic.
Good deal from the UK, It's going to be good watching Russia pay for all of this over the years, including the reconstruction.
Normally a debate doesn’t label the people participating with such terms.
Whataboutism again.
We dont know the civilian casualties yet, because Russia still occupies areas like Mariupol, and the city was completely leveled more or less.
And same goes with other occupied areas, and many places mass graves are still turning up
We wont know before the places are liberated from the russians or the war ends
Always this national obsession with invading Europe whilst playing the victim
It's not a world war but hundreds of thousands fighting daily isn't massive, ukraine has single handedly stopped the second biggest military in the world for over 320+ days ..
Silly games people come to play in here
Not finished reading the thread, but someone saying a defending nation is ‘bad’ doesn’t deserve the ability to post shîte on the thread - I’m hoping they’ll have lost posting privileges by the time I get to the end of the thread.
What the Ukrainians are up against, people who want to annihilate them.
