Seeing as Elton has now rescheduled his Dublin gigs, might be useful to start a 2023 thread as others might start popping up.
The Commitments - 7th - 19th February (Olympia Theatre)
Elton John - 28th/29th March (3Arena)
Probably wouldn't be best thread to ask such a question seen as this is a gigs forum and not a sports one, but I'd have interest in going. The one factor holding me back would be the extortionate hotel prices and Dublin in general.
Nice one, nice to know he's going to be active anyway, hopefully some Irish festival either side of that date snaps him up. There doesn't seem to be day events like Forbidden Fruit who managed to snap him up twice in June or Longitude in August so hopefully maybe All Together Now will get him or maybe EP seeing its nearer their dates. Fingers crossed anyways.
100% yes. And I would round up as many to go as possible. Would be an amazing event - especially if between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano.
And I've never even been to a boxing event.
Thanks @Fanirish for posting that. Hopefully we'll get a date here but if not I'll head over.
I might just do that too, as Aphex gigs these days are as rare as hens teeth.
@Fanirish do you have a link for this, I want to post it in the Facebook group Campaign to get Aphex Twin for Electric Picnic. Have tried Googling it and it keeps throwing up the 2017 event.
Noooo - not EP :) Indoor if possible please but if outdoors not a festival ;)
It's subtle @bodhrandude
https://190823.co.uk/ is the site reference of the promoter Waxarch and 19 Aug 23 is the date of Field Day.
Does he work the alter well ??
Indoor, I wouldn't mind that, do you think he could sell out a standalone at the 3Arena.
yeah wax arch is comoany behind field day and the teaser and in the code it mentions field day
Only if he announces a handful dates I would think and people come from abroad to see it. Much as I don't like the place it would be best suited.
I've been trying to get him for the Picnic as he hasn't played a camping festival in Ireland since 2008, I suppose these city gigs are usually handy for him with an early closing. But I can't think of anywhere better than the Electric Arena tent at EP which is about same capacity as that tent he played at Field Day in 2017. Now the EA is a indoor tent but folk need to see his laser light show proper as I think a lot of the visuals was lost at Forbidden Fruit both times he played, 2011 was too bright and sunny for about 3 quarters of the set and 2017 was quite wet, but even the rain was making the lasers less distinctive unless you were very far back. But the thing he does with dropping cutting edge sound scraping artists mixed with his own productions and his partner, visual artist Weirdcore and his work needs to be seen in an indoor environment. Right I'll stop with the thesis now. :)
Would be wasted if he ever played at EP.
Aphex Twin = Come hear my 14.4 baud modem LIVE!
Change of venue, and moved from September to June which is very interesting.
Forbidden Fruit line up being announced soon.
Was on at 10am this morning for Madonna in London, over 155,000 people ahead in the queue. Hopefully with that demand they'll expand the cities she plays. Could do a string of nights in the 3arena
I caved and bought tickets for Berlin gig , prices weren’t that bad , €140 but they started at €55 . These €5k tickets press are reporting for are for live nation Vip packages and to be fair most other artists charge same . I’m thinking 3arena isn’t added due to size of stage . If you look at maps it’s like there’s main stage but 2 huge catwalks ( mini stages ) in middle with gaps so I’m guessing 3 arena is actually too small . Pity we don’t have an arena that takes 18-20k , all others seem to be that size at a minimum .
Yeah looking at stage design on ticketmaster for various countries does seem like state design wouldn’t fit in 3 arena.
What's the craic I see Dave Grohl and Nate Mendell from the Foo's are holidaying in Dublin, could we be getting a summer gig ?
Coldplay release video hinting at new dates in USA and Canada. Can we all just accept that they are not playing Ireland now?
I’m not willing to take the risk for more European gigs. Will be in the queue for US/Canada dates!
Second date added for Osees in the Button Factory, May 23. Previous night is sold out. Psychic Graveyard announced as support😁
I'm moving over to Canada this year so 🤞🤞🤞
They're just on holiday.
I only found the next day that they were in roles which is only two mins from my office 😢
Field day London lineup got accidentally leaked earlier on twitter. Some may be interested due to afx
That's not too bad at all. Aphex, Bonobo, Fever Ray, Jon Hopkins, Moderat and SBTRKT among others, that's a really nice announcement.
And yet still no croker gigs announced. Will this be the year without croke park gigs? I give it 2 more months and then will accept this
