Might be the opposite, they are afraid they will drive them all the way to Moscow leading to decades of unrest and possibly a nuclear reaction.
they're russian and i've seen them do a 180 turn after launch i wouldn't be so sure about the safety
If Germany thought Ukraine would win the war I'm sure they'd get a lot more military aid. That says a lot about Germany
There is a major Russian assault coming. I wonder if it's a case of would the tanks be in service in time but also would it be enough anyway? They've only had a year to work this out
From Germany's perspective these concerns seem understandable even if frustrating for everyone else From Germany's perspective
Here's an oxymoron for you Kermit.
German efficiency
Give Ukraine more artillery and cluster bombs, russians can fcuk off with their offensive, they lack equipment and mere mortals will be shredded by those weapons - Ukraine isn't a signatory to anti cluster bomb treaties, with good reason they have mordor as a neighbour.
I don't believe "Germany" believes Ukraine can't win the war. I believe the German govt. and probably some in the civil service are rotten, either sympathisers, amoral type capitalists, or beholden to russia. It is a ploy to gain favour with murderers for future business deals.
Western weapon quality coupled with Ukrainian will to win will defeat the orcs. The only question here is why are some Western interests determined to strangle the flow of weapons despite the stink that will follow them for decades.
No Leopards, but plenty of heavy artillery and munitions sent to Ukraine (again). Rumour has it that the package will also include some upgraded BMP-2's, since they could be replaced by Sweden.
Either Arm and give 110% support to Zelensky now, immediately, or at a future date face Ruzzia themselves on European territory. Maybe the West is afraid of Putins nuclear threat's, but that's not a guarantee that Putin will be afraid of NATO the same way.
I think we should join NATO. Let them develop the ports for military logistics and build airstrips to cater for anything they want to land. Neutrality is an illusion and we can't sit on the fence until China kick off aswell. If we had joined with the allies officially during WW2 we could have had a ton of money pumped into the country for rebuilding and investment.
I wonder what became of the Irish merc with wagner that we heard of at the start of the invasion. fertilizer i hope.
I wager the UK has been thinking ahead when training Ukrainians. Train them on Everything possible within reason. Otherwise the challengers would be of no use so they must already have been trained.
If Russia is declared a terrorist state many of the links with Russia will become illegal and they will have to cut the ties.
U.S sanctions wagner pmc!
People are right to be focusing on Germany.
It's a war in Europe, Europe should be able to sort it out and not be constantly relying on the US.
Germany seem to be happy to take the lead in other European matters but seem to be showing none here.
Germany likes it's economy the way it has been setup this war has put a spanner in the works for that. If they could get away with it they would still be buying russian Gas.
Interesting if true.
After the US, Germany has sent the most military aid to Ukraine. They’ve taken in over 1 million refugees from Ukraine.
Don't know if true but would be a sensible step. It will take 6-8 weeks or more to train so hopefully they can get it sorted well before that.
After the US ,UK other EU States ie Poland the Germans are 4th on the list
Just to clarify, its Ukraine that has relied on the US, not Europe (whole).
I dont see how Spain, for example, is supposed to be "relying on the US".
Ukraine may be part of continental europe, but its not whats refered to in the political sense as Europe. No more than Canada is what we commonly mean when we say America.
Russia is getting a beat down by Ukraine. So i dont see how there can be any perceived reliance on the u.s. by eu countries, bar maybe estonia, latvia, and lithuania.
If Scholz can hold another few weeks, it will be May before they can be on the field and gives Russia a chance to get its Spring offensive in to place and on the move before it.
The pro Ukraine States need to act quickly and thwart their plan.
Could the Ukrainans already be being trained on that equipment on the sly?
So that if/when it is announced, they can be shipped in and put into action right away?
How did you know that, thats classified information?
They will need it. russia is about to unleash the battle mechs anytime now their just pretending to have crap equipment.
2nd actually. Was on bbc news tonight. I know it doesn’t fit the narrative on here but facts are facts. Skip to 4.46
Are we including money from Germany rather than Equipment.
It's not that they don't think they can win the war but more that they want to keep their options open. In typical German fashion they want to run with the dogs and píss with the pups. The only thing that matters to them is tje German economy and especially their big businesses. They'll be back licking Russias arse for fossil fuels before the Ukrainians can organise a victory parade whilst at the same time smooshing ukraine for rebuilding contracts.
Military aid as I said

Germany is 2nd
oh. my. good. god.
bbc not self sucking for once.
get the calendar. mark it down.
Just a question, the military equipment the UK sends, are Ukraine paying now or in the future for it. Or is that cost born by the UK
"Because today's decision is a "note in the history book." As the new RU offensive will be successful, DE will have to take co-responsibility on the chest""Associations with the Second World War and the Ribbetropes/Molotovs will appear imho not only in Poland, but also in the Balts or Nordics"
The damage being done by Scholz to Germany's reputation cannot be underestimated, and it will take years to get past. In an existential war for their brother nation, the Poles, Baltics etc see Germany choosing Russian friendship over Ukrainian lives.
This fellow is Professor of international relations in Krakow, Poland's most prestigious university.
It's coming to a stage where their will be a complete breakdown in relations between the Scholz Govt and their immediate Eastern neighbours.
Not true.
Doesn't fit the narrative on here ,
Oh another one of those ...
