Front page of Irish Times today that grant going/reduced in July
I’ve been posting it for weeks and people were dismissing it, even up until yesterday people were dismissing my posts about the grant going!
Here's the link: https://www.irishtimes.com/politics/2023/01/20/ev-buyer-grants-to-be-cut-in-july-in-shift-to-prioritising-infrastructure-eamon-ryan-says/
Grant is already being halved in July, this isnt even news
There is nothing new in that article, another lazy effort from the Irish Times
The budget was announced in September of last year and it said the grant will reduce from 01/07/2023
Could be a small reduction, could be halved, could be gone. It is not in the public domain (or hasn't even been decided yet) by how much.
Trouble in the Suez canal
That was 11 days ago. Anything new?
Eek! Ok, move along folks, nothing to see here 😗
Do we know if the Irish RWD Model Y's will have the 30mm extra seat extension in the back? Thought they felt a bit short when I did a test drive...

Nobody knows yet.
The UK got their delivery around the time that the changes were made. I mentioned it on the UK group but nobody got them so there was even checks to see if they got the comfort suspension.
We shall know in the next few weeks
The design of the Tesla heat pump
Thanks @Gumbo - I guess we can just hope. Comfort suspension is a more immediate need.
Having never driven a Tesla before I thought a heads up display would be a good addition as there isn't a speedometer in front of the driver...but you probably get used to the big screen after a while.
Speed is at the same level as a regular speedo just at 8oclock instead of 6oclock, get used to it very fast. Gives much better visibility out the front not having the speedo straight in front of you. I find I'm generally stuck in traffic, on crap roads with ridiculously high limits or on N/M roads with autopilot on so rarely worried about being over the limits anyway 😁
Anybody with an order pending noticed the balance changed in the app? Looks like its adding the vrt on to the price?
The grant has yet to off the price. Once the grant is approved and closer to the time, €5k will be added as a credit.
Has anyone looking into installing a dashcam? We have one currently, had we actually received our ZS it was a simple USB plug in by the rearview mirror. I presume with MY its more complicated?
The 8 cameras that come as standard not enough 🤷?
I'm still on the "research journey" re Tesla's. Due to cost they were never on my research radar til the price drop.....so now I've ordered I'm very much on the back foot.
Just did some googling, seems all I need is a decent USB key to save files. Perfect, cheers.
I'd recommend an SD card, has worked perfectly for me for 3yrs
Any particular type or format presuming it doesn’t come with the car ?
You get one with the car.
Some have had no issues with it, many have.
I wouldn’t risk it to be honest. I use an SSD HD and touch wood hasn’t caused any problems.
Test drove one and it was fairly hard ride. Tyre pressure was 44/45 and SA said that is normal.
He said do not expect any better ride as only a small component/damper is being changed. Not sure what to make off it. Ride was hard for sure. This complicated c40 vs MY decision. 8k difference is a lot though plus better range plus charging speeds.
Massive difference.
Book a test and drive the RWD so at least you can directly compare.
It may still not be the car for you but at least you explored that avenue.
Could anyone confirm if the new Model Y has lumbar adjustment (driver seat)?
I understand new batch will have softer suspension.
I think lumber was removed a year or 2 ago from both 3 and Y. Maybe it never made the Y.
M3 has lumbar on driver side only. MY likely still has it but won't know until someone gets one of this batch.
Damn, I knew I forgot something. I felt lumbar support on the test drive of the RWD Model Y, but I didn't test if it was adjustable. Could be wrong here but I think I read somewhere that the car does have it but for the driver's seat only
Maybe the next person test driving the UK reg RWD from Sandyford can double check?
Passenger lumbar support was removed from the 3 and Y in early 2021, Tesla monitors EVERYTHING in the car, usage was low so they said not required so removed, not sure on current models
@slave1 Tesla monitors EVERYTHING in the car,
Thanks for reminding me, must cover the internal camera with a bit of tape...😁
You suggesting test driving MY? I did drive. I would prefer MY as it saves a lot of money and is more efficient etc etc. Ride was hard. It was a RWD variant ad per SA. UK number at Sandyford.
It had fake wooden inserts. Does it come in single motor RWD?
