WRC won't thank them for that. It could be worse long term for the dept to do that. Best off coming to a settlement and getting it over and done with.
In my view neither side is coming out of this with any credibility. School (& dept) don't seem to be properly following due process and disciplinary process. Ultimately they'll pay for that.
As for the Burkes...well the less said the better.

No a school can't pull an unknown person off the street and hire them to teach their children. It doesn't work like that.
They also don’t have to hire from the candidate pool they have available. They can choose to wait for more.
That video of them following people kind of shows what your dealing with. Its all very intimidating. Most of the people on that board are volunteers and now have to deal with this crap.

The law should also be changed that you can't be on school property unless invited. It's like saying I could go into a school and stay there as the Guards can't remove me. As a parent that is what is wrong in this case and shows a flaw in the law.

The people rubbing their hands with glee that he’s making such a farce of a basic dislplincary process (which by the way if left where it was would prob have been a formal warning at worst but now has escalated much further) is sickening.

I don't really understand Irish law so maybe someone can explain this to me. Why can't the school just refuse him entry? If someone unauthorised tries to gain entry to my place of employment we refuse them, they keep persisting and the police are called. Can they not take away his fob access, lock the door, change panel codes etc?

Still I don't think a phony "spoiler candidate" is a good idea against known litigious people. Maybe just interview other genuine candidates?
The school seems to have shot itself in the foot with tricks and now may have to pay the Burkes a big settlement. Pretty funny outcome after pages and pages of triumphalism from "Boggles" et al.
The stress from this whole charade and pressure of being in the national spotlight might have something to do with the illness that the chairman of the board is suffering from.
To be fair - These people are all volunteers , they aren't getting paid and they certainly didn't take up the positions to have to deal with this kind of sh!t.
Wilsons is a relatively small low profile school so they just wouldn't have any exposure to dealings of anything remotely like this.
The pressure that these people must be under is immense so I'm not surprised if they are feeling sick.
They can refuse any candidate, but they need to be able to show that they had good reasons for doing so, that the candidate failed to meet one of their criteria, or failed at interview, to avoid ending up in trouble at WRC later.

TBH it a bit off the wall having an issue with him carrying the box in those three pictures. In tow of them he is the line male present and in the third his father is the only other male present.
As you said it was basic disciplinary procedures and the principal and boards of management who should be the professionals could not get them correct.

The onus on fair procedure at any disciplinary hearing are on the employer not the employee.
Yes EB is going to er the top but he would have less chance of winning any case if the school was following procedures.
When the dispute started between him and the principal the BOM should have appointed an I dependent person to investigate and report back. It should not have discussed a proposed report ad-hoc which seemed to have happened without both parties present.
It's immaterial what you think of him personally or his actions it down to an employer following procedures

I didn’t ask what the school has to do. I said Enoch is free to behave unprofessionally but the school is being held to a standard of perfection, is that what you’re saying?

theres no report I’ve seen but I think it’s not worth being in the news because it’s actually at this stage not even news.
