Seeing as Elton has now rescheduled his Dublin gigs, might be useful to start a 2023 thread as others might start popping up.
The Commitments - 7th - 19th February (Olympia Theatre)
Elton John - 28th/29th March (3Arena)
Hope you are right. The young fella at home is a mad Strokes and Oasis fan. Would make for a nice weekend in the big smoke.
Condition No. 11 of the granted decision by An Bord Pleanala on the 9th March, 1993 states:
“(a) The number of special events such as concerts, conventions or exhibitions shall not exceed three per annum
residents can try an call an evening boxing match as a “exhibition” rather than a sporting event.
Katie's fight is a sporting event. It won't count as a concert date.
And presumably Katie Tyalor, the 3rd slot
Beyonce is going to be taking 2 out of 3 Croker slots.
Someone threw something at one of them the last time they were here. Beer or something. Maybe that's why. Or maybe not.
Was a brilliant concert despite that. Was a perfect evening and I was blown away by how good it was.
The Strokes just announced for All Points East in London on the Friday. Along with Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Angel Olsen, Black Midi etc
Hearing that’s lcd are not touring europe in 2023. Wouldn’t be shocked if a strokes/yyy’s bill on day before noel g happens
You'd assume there'll be a few other gigs on there too, hardly putting up a stage for just one evening.
LCD/YYYs if that is still going ahead.
Maybe even a return for Aphex Twin with a few of the Field Day names?
e: actually just noticed it's MCD running them, last few Aphex appearances have been with POD. Could still happen though.
That's a decent day's worth of music. Great to see gigs announced later in the summer too.
Noel G at RHK
Noel Gallagher
primal scream and happy Mondays playing kilmainham sun 27th august
And yet still no croker gigs announced. Will this be the year without croke park gigs? I give it 2 more months and then will accept this
That's not too bad at all. Aphex, Bonobo, Fever Ray, Jon Hopkins, Moderat and SBTRKT among others, that's a really nice announcement.
Field day London lineup got accidentally leaked earlier on twitter. Some may be interested due to afx
I only found the next day that they were in roles which is only two mins from my office 😢
They're just on holiday.
I'm moving over to Canada this year so 🤞🤞🤞
Second date added for Osees in the Button Factory, May 23. Previous night is sold out. Psychic Graveyard announced as support😁
I’m not willing to take the risk for more European gigs. Will be in the queue for US/Canada dates!
Coldplay release video hinting at new dates in USA and Canada. Can we all just accept that they are not playing Ireland now?
What's the craic I see Dave Grohl and Nate Mendell from the Foo's are holidaying in Dublin, could we be getting a summer gig ?
Yeah looking at stage design on ticketmaster for various countries does seem like state design wouldn’t fit in 3 arena.
I caved and bought tickets for Berlin gig , prices weren’t that bad , €140 but they started at €55 . These €5k tickets press are reporting for are for live nation Vip packages and to be fair most other artists charge same . I’m thinking 3arena isn’t added due to size of stage . If you look at maps it’s like there’s main stage but 2 huge catwalks ( mini stages ) in middle with gaps so I’m guessing 3 arena is actually too small . Pity we don’t have an arena that takes 18-20k , all others seem to be that size at a minimum .
Was on at 10am this morning for Madonna in London, over 155,000 people ahead in the queue. Hopefully with that demand they'll expand the cities she plays. Could do a string of nights in the 3arena
Forbidden Fruit line up being announced soon.
Change of venue, and moved from September to June which is very interesting.
Aphex Twin = Come hear my 14.4 baud modem LIVE!
Would be wasted if he ever played at EP.
I've been trying to get him for the Picnic as he hasn't played a camping festival in Ireland since 2008, I suppose these city gigs are usually handy for him with an early closing. But I can't think of anywhere better than the Electric Arena tent at EP which is about same capacity as that tent he played at Field Day in 2017. Now the EA is a indoor tent but folk need to see his laser light show proper as I think a lot of the visuals was lost at Forbidden Fruit both times he played, 2011 was too bright and sunny for about 3 quarters of the set and 2017 was quite wet, but even the rain was making the lasers less distinctive unless you were very far back. But the thing he does with dropping cutting edge sound scraping artists mixed with his own productions and his partner, visual artist Weirdcore and his work needs to be seen in an indoor environment. Right I'll stop with the thesis now. :)
