Seeing as Elton has now rescheduled his Dublin gigs, might be useful to start a 2023 thread as others might start popping up.
The Commitments - 7th - 19th February (Olympia Theatre)
Elton John - 28th/29th March (3Arena)
No, they do tests on venues fairly frequently. It doesn't mean anything gig wise unfortunately.
Nah as previously discussed here last year there was a bunch of cp test events for a few different venues on ticketmaster. It’s just a system thing
Fall Out Boy about to release their new song and possibly tour announcement too. Hopefully they include Ireland
Noel Gallagher surely has to announce a date soon with the album announced tomorrow.
noel g playing EP
Can't see Noel doing EP without being a headliner and they've all been announced but if he is that's a shame
Real shame he'll never get that last 3arena show.
Noel is not a EP headliner material by any stretch of the imagination. He is sub headliner based on ticket sales. EP headliner = act who can sell Marley Park out on their own. Noel g can sell st Anne’s on his own
So sorry to hear that. Was really hoping that the show would go ahead, not because I care so much about the show - seems so unimportant in the context of the man's health - but just because the show going ahead would be confirmation that he had battled back from his latest health issue.
Wishing all the best for Christy and for his family and band mates.
From the Irish Times: https://www.irishtimes.com/culture/music/2023/01/16/christy-dignam-receiving-palliative-care-at-his-dublin-home/
Such sad news too here and wishing everyone affected the best
Seen Aslan a few times and they never disappointed and Christy is a nice soul
As soon as they announced the show I figured it'd be his swan song, he knew he was on borrowed time. The family announcing it means we're close to the end, still wouldn't surprise me if the crazy bastard got wheeled out to the garden to sing a few songs.
All fair enough but he sub headlined Glastonbury last year (biggest festival in the world) and there's no way Noel should be below Lewis Capaldi on any bill. Lack of any significant new material didn't help last year too.
Chemical Brothers and Snow Patrol were headliners in 2020 but I dont think either would get close to selling Marlay Park
There’s a saying
if u2 and aslan were playing beside each other in neighbouring venues - all the Irish would be in the Aslan gig then go over to the u2 gig and beat the sh1te out of everyone!!
He could potentially be headlining the second stage; the one Fontaine's headlined last year. That was about the same size as St Anne's?
Noel G is def a festival like electric picnic headliner, he has a huge back catalogue both oasis, solo and high flying birds - and - this is the significant part - huge fan base
no way is Noel g not in the same category as Billie eillish, Lewis capaldi and the killers who were announced as the respective de facto headline act for each night. Noel did st Anne’s last summer. The others are just another level more popular than Noel.
I think subbing for The Killers would make a pretty spectacular Sunday night, no point having them separate because there'll be a big overlap in fans
I'm a huge NGHFBs fan. Seen him/them 3 times but Noel doesn't play a whole lot of Oasis in his sets. Any Oasis fan going and expecting to hear a load of Oasis anthems will be disappointed.
When he played in 2016 he was sub headliner to LCD on the Saturday, he’s a sub and always has been a sub.
Perhaps
Wouldnt surprise me if they added Dublin and Wembley in August
Very sad alright...hopefully it isn't as bad as being reported and that he can make a full recovery and get out gigging.....
Palliative care is a term that nots thrown around loosely. Aslan stated that all future shows are cancelled.
Pallative care is basically pain management in the final days, I don't think he's coming back from this.
Anyone know the story with the acts for Pillow Queens Paddy's Day gig? 12 acts due due play but just over 2 months out no announcement yet. Thought there might be word by 4-6 weeks out at the latest so hopefully be announced soon.
Madonna just announced a World Tour, no Irish date as of yet. Wonder what the chances of her coming here are?
Shes playing venues of similar size to the Point.
Last Dublin show didn’t sell out, a lot of walk outs as it wasn’t a greatest hits show.
Not the most extensive tour so as Ireland smallest market in europe makes sense not to do show here.
also ticket price might of been a gamble. Expect it will be wrong side of £100 for terrible seats in London
Ireland the smallest market in Europe, you must be joking.
The 3Arena is/was one of the busiest arenas in Europe for the last decade.
If its an all seated gig the 10k capacity would probably be too low for her money demands.
Prices in Spain
Careful with this. The last time I gave reasons why they can still play here, explaining the 3- week gap, croker not announced yet, no gigs in july, examples of other bands announcing additional gigs in the past, blah blah blah...
I was accused of speaking through my h0le
