Not necessarily true
It was widely mentioned yesterday Just didn't make this thread,
Along with the 2 British civilian aid workers who look like to have been killed by Wagner forces
Clearly a fake story.
Apparently the yellow armbands were painted onto the video. Ukrainians are using green/blue armbands in this battle. Still, it is a very sad video to watch - an old wretch and a very young kid.
Suppose I'll take it for the team,
Being I'm the Ring leader apparently....
My precious
Realistically there's nothing Germany can do to stop Poland bringing tanks to Rzeszów on trucks and letting the Ukrainans take them across the border into ukraine.
Other than threatening some legal action
seems like a big game of chicken - we'll donate tanks, but only if you do it first..
I just saw an article that suggests German opposition to Poland sending German manufactured main battle tanks to Ukraine may not be as clear cut as some have been suggesting.
I blame Gatling for the hate speech. I only ever say nice things about the Russains….those murdering nazi b*stards….lovely bunch :P
In the winter in Ukraine, the Abrams gas turbines might be a better option, they tend to be easier to start and maintain in the cold weather.
But all round for consumption Leopards diesel engines might still have the edge in the long run, also for maintenance and spare parts.
Not sure if Poland have gotten their Spare parts production and repair facilities up and running yet for Abrams.
Alot of allies in Europe have also suffered from late spare parts deliveries from Germany, espesially to the leopard2a4,hence the reason why many have changed to Abrams or Korean K1 Black panther
Thats correct, but with higher fuel consumption
A gas turbine is better at full power.but diesels are better in idle and normal running
Fecks sake missed that 😭
Thingy with a gun on it but it's not a tank
IVF ??? 😁
On a slightly funny side note did anyone read the hate speech thread on feedback,
Demands were made to investigate the aboreant hate speech and racism and xenophobia that was all over this thread.....
It was quite funny reading it
It's ok to postulate a huge secret weapons and ammunition supply fire hose, but when a soldier in Bakhmut says they don't have enough gear or ammo, then that pretty much puts the lie to your made up secret supply train.
There is a tracker: https://www.ifw-kiel.de/topics/war-against-ukraine/ukraine-support-tracker/
Unfortunately only Ukraine would know how much is actually turning up in reality, as the whole thing is based on announcements of 'committments' with no check on outcomes.
Simillarly with your postulate that Switzerland are helping behind the scenes - the country where Putin got married, provided medical facilities where his 3 latest children were born, and provided them with Swiss passports, along with his flexible wife, and rumour has it; himself.
Australia on the other side of the planet have donated effectively as much to Ukraine as a % of GDP as Switzerland has, and some of that is suspect to me; donating a million CHF to the Swiss red Cross for Ukraine is probably like donating 60% to Switzerland and 40% to Ukraine.
If I can find the IBAN for donations to Ukraine's central bank so they get 100% of what I send, so can someone in Switzerland, but nope.
Just to balance the numerous comments on how slow Germany has been to send main battle tanks, I think it is worth giving a link to an article showing what they have already sent is being put to good use:
Russian Ground Forces commander Salyukov visited Belarus
no point jumping to conclusions but this is looking ominous
But the important thing is they are Nato members so we have collective security, nobody is going to threaten eu or nato members, Russia hasn't made a lot of headway after 320 + days in Ukraine
I'm not sure that anyone really knows what Ukraine is receiving in terms of military equipment and munitions. It's not necessarily in any supportive state's favour to be fully explicit as to what they have supplied and Ukraine military likely also prefer some ambiguity. The fact that they request more is important and should be acted on, but is not fully indicative of what they are being supplied with.
We do know the Swiss have publicly made prohibition on supply/ sales of some munitions that it has sold to other states. So their cards are marked but maybe they too are neutral only in name and facilitating behind the scenes? I'm sure all will become clear in time one way or another.
Ditto for Russia and their mooted supplies from Iran, North Korea and China, even heard Israel mentioned. They're all denying any such thing.
A good investment if it pays off, but has the potential to leave many countries' militaries in a bad spot. EU countries were already considered to be militarily weak/overly reliant on US/NATO (with some exceptions). To give away a large amount of their MBTs could seriously exacerbate this.
It all depends on how many they can replace in a timely fashion.
You've heard, 'the best form of defence is attack', especially proxy attack! Can't imagine a better use for them than knocking 7 shades of excrement out of Russian invaders.
Some of them have already been supplied - much of it by Germany which this thread seems to have an unhealthy dislike for.
MBT are what Ukraine is asking for.
How many of those 3000 can actually be given away? EU countries are not going to compromise their own defence forces too much, much of donated vehicles to date were done so on condition they get more modern vehicles in return (T64s, T72s for Leopards/Abrams/Challengers).
Also I thought Ukraine captured more Russian tanks than they themselves lost in combat?
Overall there's about 5000 tanks in total across Europe, but not all of them are MBTs there's other variants of tanks that don't come with the main gun , support vehicles and recovery, bridge laying.
Where did you pull those fantasy figures from?
We are talking about MBT here. Germany have about 250 of them. France/Italy have a few less. There is probably 1000-1500 tanks that could be sent. What percentage will be sent will be the question. 10% would be my guess but even that will take time.
Will they be of any use will be the other. Ukraine has shown time and time again that tanks are extremely vulnerable to modern anti tank weapons. Not only do the crews need to learn how to operate the tank they will also need to learn how to work with other mech infantry units.
That could take 6 months of training which they probably won't get.
Are you confusing a Swiss company, which incidentally is owned by a Swedish company, with the country within it is headquartered. Somebody fucked up somewhere that is clear but I don't see the link with Swiss neutrality. If the Swiss confederation believes that a rule has been broken, the company will be disciplined accordingly. They take their rules very seriously.
When this war is over, many things in the World will be different. I imagine that the Swiss will adapt to the new situation and new contacts will differ from the ones currently written. I'd be very surprised if what you state above will come to pass...except hopefully for the Russian one but even there I'd be surprised unfortunately.
EDIT: I haven't had the time to properly read the articles you posted yet but I will. Thanks for the links
A new opinion poll shows that support for leaving the EU is down in every member single state. I think the calamitous Brexit car crash and then the Russian invasion has pulled Europe much closer together, 'strength in unity' and all that.
And if a war brakes out they will automatically return themselves to Germany without a crew
But German company rhemmeintal,so when it suits the Germans they are happy to do business with less than upstanding states
Guess who done an unveiling of a new lynx IVF in Hungary
There's close to 3000 leopard tanks in Europe.
Nobody is going to be left short
