The sales guy did say that a software update may allow sound to be added to mimic the USS in future but no mention of it yet
Pure speculation, I'd ignore it, there's Tesla software updates years in waiting
Forgot to say It was 10am test drive so a cold start on full battery which was showing 410km range. Route I took was 14km and still had 402km showing when dropped back. Impressive efficiency too from cold start @ 17.1kwh/100km. No way my id4 would ever match that from cold start.
Test drove RWD white UK Model Y this morning. No USS so cameras only for parking. It would be nice to have the safety net of the audio from USS as no sound when cameras only. The sales guy did say that a software update may allow sound to be added to mimic the USS in future but no mention of it yet. Drove up the Kilternan road from J15 M50 and suspension was fine. Was told the same thing about probable September delivery with inventory in March from cancellations a possibility. Decision time now.
I test a RWD UK plate in Sandyford on Tuesday, it was a white one. I can confirm that it has the Premium audio with Sub. There were also sliders in the audio settings for both Sub and Bass. Rented a M3 RWD in the UK about a month ago and there was a considerable difference in both bass and loudness.
Audio (vs Model 3), I sat in a LR model in the States last year and instantly heard quite a difference to the 3 but no idea on the current RWD model
It's been answered above but to add my experience when I asked about the tow bar, was told you order online, it gets shipped to the SC and they arrange a time with you to fit it.
I've a test drive in the RWD (no USS) scheduled soon. Planning to see how it behaves when parking in tight spaces. Anything else anyone wants feedback on?
What unkel says above^^^
The Y is the best out there atm imo.
Nothing is guaranteed, with Tesla's delivery dates much more reliable than Hyundai's!
Chances are that there will be cancellations in March and if you order now, you might get one. Anyway, you can't lose here. Order the Tesla, pay €250 and if you get offered a car and don't want it, just decline the offer and get your €250 back because of distant selling laws.
Regen was more prominent in Tesla or others? Tesla regen does not work properly until car battery warmed up, which can take a long time in cooler weather.
What spipov said…thx.
First time in a Tesla and straight off the back of goes in Ionic 5, EV6 and iD4. Regen more prominent and overall just felt more substantial / heavier.
If the Feb/Mar date was guaranteed then it’d be the choice but can’t risk Sept so Ionic instead I think.
parcel shelf standard, floor mats standard, suspension is comfort and there are no USS on the red RWD car in Sandyford.
How did the test drive go? Boot cover? Floor mat? Suspension? Uss?!!
There's a good chance of picking up a spare inventory one in March if you're quick off the mark. Were a good few spare Model 3s in Septembers shipment but all sold in a day or so
Difficult to know. If there are a glut of rwd y's available in the UK then maybe we'll get some of them.
How did you find the test drive?
How did the test drive go
Drove the UK plated MY in Sandyford today and the guys there said new orders placed now would show a Feb / March delivery but there’s a good chance the actual delivery may be Sept.
Anyone else being told the same thing? Sept delivery would be a no-go in our case.
thx!
Tesla
Tesla ranger retro fitted a tow bar in model y at owners home. Seems straight forward. Time stamp at about 13 minutes in.
Well it won’t be from the factory as the car be in Dublin without it.
If you order it from the start, it gets fitted in the factory in China.
Otherwise just order from the online shop once you take delivery and they will fit it in sandyford. Only problem will be lead in time for the parts to arrive.
Hahahaha the Bjorn reviews were different ones..he churns them out quickly!
Haha. I think the Bjorn one was posted at least three times as well. Would be good if people read back a few posts before posting reviews.
Thanks ill confirm with them
whats this?
Note: Model Y Tow Package upgrade does not support trailer auxiliary output.
Looks like you just add it afterwards if you want;

You can change the colour at anytime, but your playing a bit of a lottery then as a change can then be treated like a new order you may get bumped down the list.
When I was ordering there was some lads ringing Tesla and saying they'd take any color to speed up delivery time. I had a blue M3 ordered but pulled the plug after waiting 6 months.
But saying that I'd expect a strong inventory in MYs due to dropping demand in UK and the USS issue.
Should probably buy a BZ instead.
Do we need the same crappy review posted three times in the same day?

Unfortunately, from here on in, the Model Y’s case starts to fall apart somewhat. First of all, there’s the quality issue. Tesla’s, shall we say, variable quality levels have been long noted. Buying a Tesla is rather like buying an old Alfa Romeo. You might get a good one that performs faultlessly and provides reliable transport for years to come. Equally, you might not…
While nothing actually went wrong with our test car, the lack of underlying quality in the cabin was very obvious. With each bump or lump in the road that we drove over, the cabin rattled and clattered as if we were carrying around a bag full of used spray paint cans. It was not edifying, and it was certainly not appropriate for a car wearing a €66,000 price tag. For reference, an identically priced Ford Mustang Mach-E exhibited not a single cabin rattle nor squeak when we tested it recently
Some of the fault for those cabin rattles must be levelled at the ride quality. Compared to rivals, the Model Y is noticeably firm on its springs, but it would not feel excessively so were the damping better. Again, comparing it to the Ford, the Mach-E is similarly firm but its damping and suspension control is much better, so you feel that the vehicle moves as a piece when reacting to bumps.
The rest of the dynamic package is equally poor. Unlike the Model 3 saloon, with which the Model Y shares a chassis, this SUV feels perched up and somewhat shopping-trolley-like in corners. The steering is artificial in feel and overgeared, so that small movements translate into sudden responses.
Even in “Chill” mode, the response to the accelerator is just as jerky. It is not a comfortable car to drive. Nor is it refined – even without the cabin rattles, there’s significant tyre roar and wind noise at a motorway cruise. You notice it most when you slow down and realise just how high you had the stereo turned up. A Hyundai Ioniq 5 or VW ID.5 is far quieter inside.
The lack of underlying quality in the cabin was very obvious
There’s also the question of the autopilot, which is, in spite of the name, nothing of the sort – it’s adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping steering, and you have to very much watch it like a hawk. To be blunt, I never felt safe using the system. The steering control has an inconsistent response, which can see it firmly hold you in lane or suddenly releasing control in response to what felt like very little pressure on the steering wheel. The acceleration and distance kept from vehicles in front didn’t feel confidence-inspiring either. Rivals certainly offer better calibrated systems.
Speaking of rivals, I feel that the Model Y’s overall performance indicates that what we’ve expected for some time has come to pass – that Tesla’s so-called “legacy carmaker” rivals have caught up and passed it out. Musk’s company still has a lead when it comes to battery performance and charging, but as a car the Model Y has now decidedly slipped behind similarly priced rivals such as the Mustang Mach-E, the Hyundai Ioniq 5, and the VW ID.5 and ID.Buzz. It simply doesn’t have the quality levels to compete at the price level it’s being pitched
There’s an extra 117 litres of space in the “frunk” under the bonnet
If Elon Musk can unhitch himself from his current social media debacle and refocus his unquestionably large brain on Tesla, perhaps that gap could be made up and even overtaken once again. Either way, Tesla needs to grow up as a carmaker. It needs to stop being part of its owner’s personality cult and instead focus on making cars that are of as high quality as its rivals.
Yes thats what id like to do, but is it the same thing? Ie tow bar from factory or after ? Or do they all get installed here after?
want to make sure i dont lose the grant.
my wife will have my head if no tow bar.
You should have an option to edit your order so you can change to Blue.
Adding the tow bar beforehand would presumably mean you'd lose the grant so better to get it installed afterwards.
Im going to be cheeky and call tesla tomorrow. Ill see if i could change to a blue colour and get the tow bar installed after. Is there a difference between ordering it on the car or getting installed after in terms of how its installed? Or do they just get installed when they arrive here?
Haven’t had any issues like that thankfully.
