You can't use tanks and IFVs in close contact open ground fighting. It would be a field day for anyone with an rpg. You'd get to take out an expensive piece of equipment plus 6 or 7 troops in one shot. They need to be pummelled from safe distance and then have the front line troops tidy up the remnants.
And yet they were successfully used in Iraq and Afghanistan in Open grounds and close quarters urban fighting,
They have the ability to engage from range in pretty much all weathers day and night too, they wouldn't have to get in rpg range and if you think you can take on a Bradley or battle tanks and not be seen from several hundred yards away,
You would be lucky
Lol you really rate yourself..
Copy and paste from Twitter 😂😂
They've thrown half a million at this already, looking to add another half a million with very little blow back. It's quite conceivable that they'll throw the same again without encountering major resistance
if you reckon its a copy & paste from twitter why not point out where it came from?
or better yet, why not actually refute what I said with actual facts of your own?
You are defending the indefensible. orcs have been trying to attack Ukrainian positions for half a year without success. Why do you think that is? It's because they have ran out trained men and the weapons to fight with. Throwing thousands of men on human wave attacks like the orcs are doing is a sign that it's all over for them. After they burn through the convicts there will be nothing left to fight with and Ukraine will go on the offensive and end this very quickly.
what and where am I defending?
After they burn through the convicts there will be nothing left to fight with and Ukraine will go on the offensive and end this very quickly.
And when will this happen? Before or after the invasion from Belarus?
This war is all over but people don't realise it yet. It's Germany 1918 or Germany 1945. The orc economy is totally fcuked. They make no money selling $30 oil and sanctions means they can't rebuild all the tanks, planes and artillery that they've lost. The Soledar attack which has cost them 10k+ dead convicts is the last sting of a dying wasp. There's literally nothing after this. Most of their tanks are blown up, 1/3 of the air force is destroyed, they have no ammo, all their missiles are gone, the professional army is mostly dead.
Ukraine gets stronger and stronger every day. I can easily see an orc collapse in the next few weeks. The same collapse that the pro orc fans on here said would never happen at Kherson.
In Afghanistan they were supported by a totally unopposed air support from fighter jets to black hawks. Here they have neither so you're just driving a large target at the enemy lines. They're ideal in a blitz scenario where you're attacking a position at speed but here you're engaging heavy fortified positions with thousands of troops and plenty of anti tank munitions. Comparing Afghanistan to Ukraine is pointless. One was a guerilla war, hit and quit. This is a traditional force vs force war with both sides bringing huge resources both human and equipment.
orc defensive lines.
It's all an illusion that was busted twice already. Ukraine have a modern highly trained maneuvering army. They don't need orc tactics of sending human wave attacks at the enemy cities. They will go around the orcs or use their superior artillery and HIMARS to blast a hole in the enemy position and collapse the line.
I wouldn't like to be a tank manufacturer after this war- I'd be diversifying into drones pronto!
Novaya Gazeta takes a dim view of Putin's legacy and the fate of Russia...
Putin himself probably thinks that his mission is to win against the US, establish a new world order, in which Russia will be the main player, etc. But he is wrong. His mission was to destroy Russia. And he succeeded. Now, he can leave in peace.
In truth, that was the only thing he managed to achieve, nothing else. A declining economy, worsening demographic situation, deepening technological backwardness, all-encompassing hypocrisy — these are the achievements of Putin's reign. The list could go on for a long time. With war and mass murder being the pinnacle of the achievements...
(Link brings you to English-language edition)
what orc defensive lines?
Something cheerful to watch:
Russians also claiming to have trapped over 1000 Ukrainian soldiers in the city center, Ukrainians deny this and also claim both that they hold the city center and that they are not encircled.
Yes, I've been saying this since the start sine the start. Even when many were panicking about provoking nuclear war. The west needed and needs to provide all means necessary to end this and quickly. Russia will have no choice but to provide the materials the west require of it as it will have no other means of survival.
It's interesting you chose to use a phrase that Michael McDowell used to describe the collapse of a drugs cartel yet here we are 18yrs later with a worse drugs problem and a bigger, more murderous cartel than ever. Its a nice soundbite but it was bs then and it's just as likely to be bs in the context you've put it. Russia is far from done and to assume so is extremely dangerous. The ante must be upped heavily in the next 3 months to put this conflict to bed.
Shocking, which is why Ukraine needs to be supported to remove as many of the Russian invaders as soon as possible and end this shocking conflict.
I said they were used successfully in Afghanistan and Iraq one relatively Open areas from desert to tight urban combat after you claimed they couldn't be used due to RPGs.
Come on now
Soldar not from Russian sources ...
Hardly surrounded by Russian or under heavy Russian fire
Russia shelled a maternity hospital in Kherson in the last while ,
Utter scum
Well then why arent Ukraine using any of their IFVs in tight urban combat? Why is it they instead tend to act from afar?
Do you, a poster on boards.ie claim to know more than Ukrainian generals?
They are ......
Don't you follow whats actually happening .
There's Numerous videos on this thread showing Ukrainian vehicles fighting in urban combat....
Desperate
Yep. It's a mistake - at least for the moment - to think Russia and Russian culture takes such losses the way the rest of the world does. They don't. Even if their media wasn't so tightly controlled they'd still take losses far higher than Europeans or the US would. It looks like they've already lost more men in one year than what the US lost in all their wars since Korea and show no signs of stopping, or revolting. Yet. I reckon the number could well double before they start to baulk. They've all been brought up on the sacrifice of the Patriotic War and putin added petrol to those flames over the last decade and more. In that sense too they're very like the German nazis in promoting a militaristic death and glory cult for the motherland.
The longterm problem for Russia are their demographics. Their population is getting older and older(if they survive to old age), their birthrate has fallen off a cliff, even with the monetary incentives to mothers/families and the youth and brain drain overseas over the last 20 plus years has been obvious. If on top of that you lose a big chunk of your young men as they seem hellbent on doing then that problem gets bigger and bigger. They can't plug the hole with immigration as almost nobody wanted to move to Russia before this and even fewer will want to after this.
Always follow the money is a good yardstick, but another, and a good crystal ball for the future of a nation/culture is demographics. In this Russia was already losing and they've gone and mashed the throttle pedal into the carpet by starting this war.
What's the worse that can happen the Swiss takes countries to court which would take years,
Oh look Ukrainans IFVs in urban areas.
All previously posted....
Jihad Julian at it again 🤣
if you believe what he says you believe anything.
Exactly that,
How about they return alot of stolen Nazi gold and other valuables too being it's all stolen
Soledar still under Ukraine control.
The weather was freezing the last few days yet it didn't stop the most intense battles seen since Mariupol. It's about to get a lot milder again for the foreseeable future.
I think it was christmas day, or thereabouts, that they shelled the Kherson childrens hospital. Fortunately, from the videos, it looks like it may not have been in use. The interior seemed bereft of equipment, fittings and furniture, so It had probably been stripped bare by the locusts plaguing the area.
