I’ve already traded into Tesla once and bought twice so I understand times can be different for everyone but that’s my experience.
No seriously, i also had done the valuation in october, was quoted 1700, i think i cancelled and did it again november, put all the docs in, then they asked me to input the same stuff with higher mileage obviously wednesday, i did it thursday and got my valuation of €1 friday morning!
€1!!
Thats taking the p*ss, it would be better if they just said due to the change in the market they are no longer taking trade ins below certain years.
Yeah, except computer can't say that. Kind of their version of computer says no.
Correct. Email said no, tesla account said €1. Email said they will take it but are offering no valuation.
If you just want to move the Tiguan on, I’d suggest you advertise it for €3500 as is and then drop the price by €100-€200 every 2 weeks until it goes. Some lad will buy it that’s capable of fixing it themselves on the cheap or it’ll go for export. It should qualify for a VRT rebate on export for maybe €800. Even Northern Ireland counts as export if you find a trader up there interested in it but the dash clocks would need to show miles. If you enter the vehicle details on the online ROS VRT Calculator to find out. A savvy trader will know all this.
Thanks. Thats way more than i would think is possible. At the minute will keep and use it until situation with the Y clears up a bit then will be in a better position.
€3500 is optimistic but I’d always advise asking enough and then be able to move to accommodate some lad that turns up with cash in the hand. You should consider putting it up for sale now as the longer it’s out of test/tax the harder it will be to shift. You could always rent something cheap until the Tesla turns up. It may only be weeks away.
Does anyone know when the new features of the Model Y 2023 model (Comfort Suspension, Matrix Headlights, Enhanced 5M Cameras, Structural Battery, 4680 cells?) are expected to be included. For cars currently produced in China are any of these features incorporated? My instinct is that it will cause a bit of a concern for those expecting delivery over the coming weeks along with some anticipation of price adjustments for some European markets. Seems reasonable that if the Chinese price reductions are (as Tesla has said) passing on some efficiencies in manufacturing process that it would spread globally.
I got the Y delivery date updated to Feb 18th to March something, have replied saying I'll decline if USS missing so they are checking VIN
@slave1 Where did you get the option to reply ? I can't see anything under my account other than the expected delivery date.
They sent me an email
Have you got a VIN in source code or have they confirmed you have been allocated a VIN out of interest? Haven't seen anyone on here yet confirm they have been allocated a VIN!
No, nothing yet, generally don't get VIN until just before delivery, once they know my VIN they can confirm to me removal of USS in which case I will defer delivery (but keep my deposit to fix on the price). If they refit USS and they can deliver before grant gets changed then I'll accept, else I will stay with my 221 RWD M3 which I've very happy with.
Aren't Tesla deliveries Q1 and Q3 though? So unlikely to land any more cars prior to the expiry/reduction of the grant in July.
Neil Briscoe, Irish Times, today.
Go order an iX1.
Very strange review.
The man doesn’t like Tesla or Elon Musk but to waffle on about EM more then the actual car in the review is a bit mind blowing for a supposedly car reviewer.
I think the IT have a gripe with Tesla as they will not sponsor anything for them or pay for any advertising.
As mentioned on the main model Y forum, he was reviewing a LR with the older non-comfort suspension along with no rear parcel shelf (helps to dampen out rear suspension noise and echoes).
At €74k, he's probably being being a bit more critical for the price point too.
Leaving all that aside, I've driven the four conventional Tesla models. I've also driven EV offerings from up and down the ranges of BMW, Audi, Mercedes, Porsche, Polestar and Volvo.
Teslas are so poor by comparison to most of them, in so many ways, it actually isn't funny.
As a value proposition, the model y rwd is hard to beat when you compare specs across competitors (apart from USS that is 😂)
Can you enlighten us why you consider Teslas so poor in comparison to other (Mainly more expensive) cars?
Every car is a compromise, the main purpose is to get from A to B as safely, comfortably and as efficiently as possible. I have over a million miles under my belt at this stage and I consider my Tesla Model 3 RWD as good as you will get. After 16K kms there are no rattles, everything is as taut as you would expect, with tech and updates first class. Long trips are a pleasure, no planning needed. In the last few months I have done London and 3 Belfast runs from Co Wexford.
Of course no car is perfect, incl Tesla. But cannot agree with your post.
Not wishing to sound like it’s 1995 but would anyone consider having parking sensors retrofitted to make for not having USS from the factory. It wouldn’t be easy to integrate with the Tesla ecosystem but a simple audible warning might be better than nothing. Might be worth looking into it rather than cancelling probably the best value EV in that sector at the moment.
Tbh I was being sarcastic about the lack of USS. I think they are a nice to have feature but not having them wouldn't put me off really as I tend to mostly reverse park and the camera will be better than nothing.
Of course it is better to have them than not, I feel was a mistake for Tesla to omit them. I personally don't rely on them, using the camera when reverse/ parallel parking. I can see the front of the car, the beeping can be annoying but nice to see that you are 35 cm or whatever away, even though you think you are almost touching.🙂
Agreed, it was a big mistake judging by the backlash in here and other forums.
For sure it will cost orders and while there is a chance that Tesla roll back and potentially re-add them in future, it will surely hurt sales.
Yes you are probably right, wouldn't stop me from buying though.
Nor me, I'll reserve a final decision until after I test drive the UK reg rwd.
€350-€400 would probably get you a set of 4 oem quality sensors professionally fitted including colour coding for front or rear. It might seem a lot but painting a scuffed bumper on a new car won’t be cheap either.
Haven't driven a Y yet, waiting for Cork to get one so I can give it a proper test on poor rural roads. By the time I would get the Dublin one out of the city it would be time to come back again.😁.
Have sat in one a few times, nice spacious car. Not mad on the back seat, bit low compared to front for me. But I would never be there.😊
Acres of room though, plenty of foot room under front seats and very practical boot. Think I prefer the 3, but Y is great value atm and for anyone needing the volume and raised driving position it's a topper. The missus is half considering changing her Ioniq 5 as she wants a tow bar for bikes which her base Ioniq will not allow.
They have one in Douglas, I drove it last week.
