no, but since i am getting this through PCP with Finance Ireland, i am aware tesla contacted them about the grant. however, i dont think they had responded yet to tesla by end of december about this.
The delivery widow is realistic, this isn't the old days of sloppy US imports, China is pumping these out, you might even see some popping up in inventory by mid-Feb I'd say
Thanks for clarifying. Decision made, no point in waiting for something that may never come. Just going to go ahead with delivery. No have to try and figure out how realistic the delivery window in as I have a car to punt privately.
I'll take a bet that USS will be added back, also I would not take a bet on Tesla promising a visual solution to replace USS, I had a long trip last night and it was multiple cameras blocked or blinded all the way, the reversing camera is also very poor in total darkness.
If the visual based system is proven then no issue, but knowing Tesla (FSD??) I will not accept a car without full parking assist.
These non-USS will end up being outliers with potential impact on resale value
I ordered on the 5th of Jan and was asked to complete the declaration the next day which I did.
They're two different things. The Radar sensor is likely a high resolution radar and will be used as an adjunct to cameras in poor visibility situations. The USS are very short range. It is very unlikely that they will add USS back.
If this were a Volkswagen, I would cancel the order as they are unable to do software. At least with Tesla you know they'll at least attempt to make vision only parking work and it's a matter of months rather than years. I expect our cars will have a release of vision only parking before we get them...

Lads help me out here. Most of us have seen that FCC doc that Tesla are adding back in a radar sensor in late Jan early Feb. Does this mean that they are not necessarily adding back in the ultrasonic sensors for parking though or they are two different things ?
Wondering is there any point in trying to delay delivery or refuse and reorder ?
I live in the city so certainly the car spends most its time there. 1 Weekly 200km trip on motorway on average at an indicated 130 on cruise (almost exactly 120 GPS)
Provided they are both the newer model with LiFePO4 battery and heat pump. Efficiency at constant motorway speeds should be almost as good in the Model Y, but efficiency in city traffic is better in Model 3 as it is lighter.
Model Y efficiency = Model 3 efficiency minus 10% give or take
The ID recorded average speed will always look slower than actual driving speed, unless on a non stop run because it includes when stationary with the car turned on. (Which will add up considerably over long term average)
I cannot comment on Model Y efficiency, as I now have a Model 3 RWD, but the Tesla M3 is definitely more efficient than my previous ID.3 at motorway speeds and in colder weather with the heat pump.
My longterm efficiency in my ID.3 was similar to yours, also didn't hang around..
It may never appear due to our stricter safety laws.
On the face of it 15.3kWh/100km is a very good average, but it depends very much at what speeds you were driving at. I doubt that includes an awful lot of motorway driving at 120km/h GPS speed (not indicated speed)
Doing 40km/h average speed I'd expect pretty good efficiency. Most of my driving is motorway, and my lifetime (since sept 22, 12k km) is 170 wh/km. Therefore if you're doing motorway driving in winter in the Y RWD I'd expect 180-190wh/km.
Alarm and immobiliser, no idea on tracking being acceptable, insurance companies can have their own unique standard

Checking insurance for MY RWD. I assume that the RWD will get added to companies' online configurators in February. What's the correct security choice for the MY? Immobiliser only? Does it have an alarm? Is its tracking acceptable for an insurance company?

Prices of EVs in the UK are higher than here now. So even if there were no taxes importing one, it wouldn't work out. On top of that, the Model X over there qualifies to be used as a limo, which makes their second hand prices hold even stronger than in other countries.
Keep looking at the Tesla inventory site though, occasionally a reasonably priced Model X will come up. @ELM327 here bought one of them last year
Mercedes do provide a 30 year warranty on rust but a prerequisite is that the bodywork is inspected every 2 years by a main dealer. This is a paid for job.
They replaced the subframe on my Mercs and neither had even a main dealer full service history let alone bodywork inspections.
They honoured the warranty although legally they could have wriggled out of it.
I am not saying that it is OK for the subframes to rust but I am saying that the fact that Merc replaced it FOC was impressive.
There are many BMW owners with the N47 engine that failed who had to pay for all the repairs just because they didn't have full BMW service histories.
I'll just have to get Elon's attention on Twitter so to get Tesla on board ;)
It's a real shame as it's the only car in it's class/price that offers that option. I'm considering a second hand MX, but that's still a bit above budget. If only we could still import cheaply from the UK...
It's been mentioned a few times on this thread. There are no known plans for the 7 seater to be made in Berlin or China.
Does anyone here have any info on when the 7 seater MY will be available in RHD? AFAIK it's only available in the US and there have been no announcements.
Bjorn Nyland's Tesla Model Y RWD Bangkok challenge. Well worth a watch. The car is super efficient in warm weather, charges quickly and is comfortable on poor roads. Even worse than Irish roads!! 😯 😀
I like how the Model 3 drives, the Model Y caters for generally a different owner though. It's just on the harsh side for a typical family bus, even on 19" and all reviewers drove it on 20" so the criticism was justified imho. That said the reviewers were all lazy and none of them tried the car on 19" wheels - perhaps this is against the contract, I don't know - but they could have at least mentioned it and they didn't

A bunch of Nancy reviewers that don’t like Tesla at the best of times who are afraid of a “bigger” wheel set up.
They winch at the costs of tyres on anything above 16”!!
