I kinda feel like Japanese car companies have two settings when it comes to styling, extremely conservative or way off the deep end
The end result of them being liberal can be very strange (Nissan Cube being my favourite example) and I feel like the black wings on the BZ4X was a case of this

I have to say, I think he's giving one of the most honest assessments of the situation in the UK and it's mostly true here IMO
Mostly it's around the public charging networks not keeping pace with EV sales and as a result the experience if you're reliant on public charging isn't good
I feel the situation is the same here, and although the fast charging network is getting better, it's slow and mostly optimised for motorway journeys
And to his credit, rather than sitting and moaning, he's been speaking to councillors and MPs about getting more chargers installed and what can be done
I guess we should probably be following his example and start annoying our public representatives about the lack of chargers in the area
Problem is your local representative isn't in the place where you need chargers. Like if you live in Dublin and the charging in Westport, Sligo or Dingle isn't good enough for you there's no votes in that for them....
The local rep might be concerned if tourists choose different areas to visit because of the lack of charging? And s/he might get extra votes if they become the local expert on getting grants for chargers & similar for hotels, B&B's etc.
Tourism is a big employer in them areas, (and I live in one) we should be pushing for more in these areas.
Id probably never use them. But people visiting, spending money in my local area, etc are.
It will be something I'd be talking to them about when the co. Council elections come around as it's the co co the pressure needs to be put on. There is funding there.
Well we need chargers for locals as well, and that's something local councillors could help with
For example near me the council has recently built a car park near the local sports pitches
There's several EV owners near me who have on street parking and no home charger and would benefit from a local hub
There doesn't seem to be any sign of chargers even though it would be the perfect place for a DC charger hub. Something like a 4 car hub like what Applegreen have been installing would be perfect
The council could partner with EasyGo for example, wouldn't cost them anything and would support an Irish business
There's lots of similar examples of bits of council land which could be used for DC hubs and would make life a lot easier for EV owners
The council can also introduce planning rules that require a certain amount of chargers in a car park. I think there's something like this already but it seems woefully inadequate, lots of 7kW chargers installed in supermarkets where you're unlikely to spend more than an hour
Making the rules clearer about the minimum amount of charging power required would really help out
I'm not having a go here (although it will sound like it).
Any DC hubs being installed in Dublin are almost constantly in use by taxis. I understand they are totally within their rights to use them, but it's off putting that when you pull up to a charger there are at least one if not 2 taxis there and more waiting.
I gave up on the one in Templeville because of this and now SuperValu in kimmage is the same. I've seen all 3 chargers in use here and taxis queuing (and others driving past and leaving!!).
DC hubs are great but I would love to see loads (and I mean hundreds) of AC chargers dotted around the city for those (soon to be me!!) without home charging.

I've said it before that DC hubs should be 4 cars minimum, so basically all those 50kW ESB triple heads don't count
I think that would result in a big drop in queues in general
I agree though that there needs to be a solution for taxi's as well, maybe reconfigure the ranks so they support DC chargers as well
If they were exclusive to taxis then they'd be less inclined to use the public network

If this is the first iteration, then I would call it a very good attempt. With some improvements in charging and battery technology then you could see 500km ranges being feasible (in something other than a Tesla semi)

Well it looks like they're only producing for the UK this year. And to be fair they're bringing the factory up from basically zero
If you think of Volvo or Mercedes electric trucks, they're pretty much the same chassis as the diesel ones. So I imagine they can resume a lot of the parts and tooling which gives them a headstart on manufacturing
Also to be frank I suspect companies are a bit reluctant to order a truck they'll probably operate for 7 or 8 years from a company that might be bankrupt by 2024

Big price cuts on Tesla's in the US yesterday/overnight it seems.
$3,000 off the M3, $9,000 off an M3P, $13,000 off the MYLR and MYP. Other models got discounts as well.
Reductions in some EU countries as well.
Edit: M3 is showing as €45,660 here with blue paint. Not sure if that's a reduction?

Why have they dropped the prices? Falling sales due to the grant changes in many countries? That will have a big impact on the value of existing cars.

I'd agree with that, especially when you think that the "value" in a tesla isnt its build quality or its looks but the intelligence that comes with it BUT you even need to pay extra for that, and the last time I heard the cash you pay for upgrades gets lost when you sell the thing on as they switch them off.
I had pretty much decided to hold off and stick to the ICE as I have mad random road trips with work but this price drop has me back on the fence again. LR model 3 is tempting now.
