I think there’s a misconception that just because he was the only vocal objector to the policy, and actually went to jail as a result of his pursuing his objection,(defying court order) that the vast majority people have no negative views on pronoun addressing.
personally, I have encountered plenty who think it’s a joke, and a world gone mad. That you’re a he/she/male/female and away with ya.
Got in with a a group of random people in the pub last night for a while where this topic came up; some of the group seem to know the Burkes too well as they are from the same locale as the Burke family. Enoch was spoken of with some derision and noone supported him or seemed to give a damn that he spent anytime in prison. It was a 'what's he up to now' kinda convo.
On the other hand when the conversation moved on to the pronouns there was not one jot of sympathy for the pupil in question just a lot of rolling of eyes on that topic.

I disagree. Plenty plenty argue exact same as him in general society, and would be a he/she black and white viewpoint on the subject. To say the topic of pronoun addressing is not divisive is wrong. I’d say it’s very evenly disagreed on.

Level headed and "normal" teachers are, he is neither of those things.
It's only divisive for those who don't want to treat trans people with a little bit of human respect.
Each teacher doesn't get a veto on school policies. There's a process for developing and approving policies, with final approval by the Board of Management, which includes one teacher elected by the teaching staff. If you don't like every school policy, that's tough. You either live with it, or you step down from your role.

You absolutely did make your position clear. There was no lack of clarity at all. I'm simply pointing out the hypocrisy of getting all uppity about this niche issue for women's sport when you clearly have no interest in sport at all. It's a bandwagon, a flag of convenience, a stick for you to beat trans people with, though you've no actual interest in sport at all.
If you don't want to fornicate with someone who has transitioned, then I can only suggest that you don't fornicate with someone who is transitioned. A school policy about treating trans students with a tiny bit of human respect will not require you to fornicate with anyone that you don't want to fornicate with. But he wasn't 'just objecting to the school policy'. He was banging on in Court about how it would contradict HIS belief system if he had use chosen pronouns for this student.
He doesn't have to do anything for this student. He has no dealings with this student.
He's deliberately chosen to pick a fight on a theoretical scenario, backed up by his family at a minimum, and possibly backed up by other external movements only too delighted to fund a divisive legal battle and make a victim out of Burke.
The question no doubt he will pose when he sues the School is, why should he leave if he feels he is right?. It will be up to a Judge to decide if that argument has merit. You have to also consider that given the publicity attached to his sister, the chances of securing employment if he resigned might be limited.

This might come across as very naive but if you have an issue with policy you would write a complaint to management and maybe have a meeting about it. If they dismiss your complaint you have two choices, leave or accept it. This is the way the world functions, no? Any alternative would be chaos.
