This family are a drain on Irish society, this is just another example of that. They are destructive and nothing they do is political, it is bigotry wrapped up in religious based ideology.
What political issue is there when a teacher won't use a pronoun? That is what started it, he then went on a tirade of harassing staff and students and that ended him up in court.
Majority of the people I know just see them all as crackpots.

The student at the heart of this circus asked to be referred to with they/them pronouns. It's really not that hard, and all Enoch Burke was asked to do.
The good news is I don’t think any of the Burke siblings, Enoch obviously included, will be reproducing. So there’s that?

By all accounts the students respected him and he had a reputation as a very good teacher. It would be interesting to see if the entire school community feel the way that the board do. Remember the board are elected by the community but once elected they act collectively and follow corporate governance and not the views of those elected.

AFAIK they are not members or followers of any of the Western Christian Churches that are separate from the Roman Catholic Church in accordance with the principles of the Reformation.
They're evangelicals. An altogether more committed religious group than any mainstream church.
It doesn’t really matter what the wider school community feels. It’s not a democracy. The Board of Management has to make the hard decisions.
Some of the Board members are elected btw, some are appointed.
It doesn't ultimately matter whether the "entire school community" feels the way the board do. The board's job is not to what is popular; it's to provide leadership (which is sometimes a very unpopular thing).
Particularly in a matter of this nature, involving the pastoral care of a student, the last thing the board should be doing is sticking a finger in the air to find out how the winds of popular sentiment are blowing. They have a duty of care towards this student, and to other students in a similar situation, and they must do what is in the best interests of the student, exercising their own best judgment about what that is rather than deferring to the opinions of others.

You don’t think the news of the day is discussed at the kitchen table? We are more likely to talk (briefly) about that nutter in the school than we are about Ukraine, planning permission, shite being thrown at politicians etc.
Like a lot of families, unfortunately we sit at the counter/table with our phones in our hand looking at whatever item is trending, or in my case google news, I prefer to talk about light topics than get bogged down in political/financial conversation, so, Enoch Burke did come up at the table yesterday, “did you see what that eejit did?”

I imagine the parents of kids in the school are getting fairly písséd off with this creeps behaviour.

I have, the topics of Burke and pronouns are inseparable, over the years the topic of pronouns and gender fluidity has come up many times in our house, where we (in our late 50s) struggle to understand it, our kids are more attuned as they all know people who identify as a gender other than that which they were born. They see it as common, everyday and that Burke is a tit, I agree.
Surely that only applies to criminal convictions, Burkes legal problems are civil, so far.
