Sad news with the confirmed death of Stephan Bonner
For many, he’d be considered an OG of the UFC, or at least this ‘era’ of the UFC for want of a better word
All of the words used about his fight with Forrest Griffin might be considered hyperbole by some, but they’re not. It was genuinely a hugely important fight for the UFC/Zuffa
Meet him in Vegas over a decade ago, he seemed a bit mad but good crack,
Its helped save UFC , TUF was there last gamble to try & get an extended tv deal without it they would have went under & the success of that fight landed them a multiple season TUF deal with Spike TV & UCF events , The rest is history ,
Dana White was caught on camera slapping his wife in a night club.
"There’s one thing that you [fighters] never bounce back from and that’s putting your hands on a woman.”
Let's see if Dana bounces back.
No excuse for it, and I wouldn't be surprised if it ended his tenure with the UFC.
Still irritates me though that whilst he is (correctly) being dragged over the coals for slapping her, she is the poor battered wife even though she hit him first.
They are both degenerates.
White could murder someone and I wouldn't be surprised he was still the president of the UFC. Nothing will come of this
Depends on how many people go after him. The "Oooh ooh theyre animals its cage fighting" crowd will be (rightly) all over this.
It absolutely destroys the reputation of the sport as well once this enters the mainstream news channels. A reputation that so many have fought hard over the years to improve and maintain. It’s actually so much worse than any fighter being involved in something similar. This is the head of the largest MMA organisation in the world, UFC quite literally IS mixed martial arts to the majority of their fans.
Dana’s a scumbag, pure and simple. That’s not a sudden realisation either, this story is just a reminder of it.
Wtf were two 50+ year olds doing in a nightclub anyway? Absolute weirdos
Mma bout to get another headline if baroni news is true
Was he in training for this new promotion hes trying to get up and running?
He needs to go... but i cant see it happening.
PFL coming to Dublin this December. Hopefully a good card as it's the finals if their euro season
Francis Ngannou released from UFC. Dana said big Fran was offered Jon Jones on a desk that would have made him the highest paid heavyweight in ufc history and he turned it down so they just released him from contract so he can 'go fight lesser opponents and do whatever he wants'.
Big boxing fight for him coming up so.
Jones v Gane scheduled for UFC 285 in march.
That's a pity about Ngannou. Loved watching him in the UFC, he has such terrifying power.
Tyson wanted to fight him last year, but is their money in that boxing fight? Ngannou was never a major draw in the UFC so I am skeptical of it doing money and does Tyson want the fight now?
If he doesn't get Tyson then I dunno who he can fight in boxing , don't forget its a new sport for him he is near 37 with bum knees and obviously won't have the UFC machine to promote him.
Although I expect PFL to give him a lot of money so he won't be struggling!
Stupid move by Dana. The heavyweight division is **** as it was and letting the champ go. Maybe Francais is afraid of Jones
Jones v Gane just feels flat , it never feels right when the champion just leaves a division ,
The issues seems to be Francis wanted to be allowed box when he felt like it, The money was fine he just wanted to make more outside of the UFC if he saw fit ,
If true, you can kinda see his point. McGregor was allowed to swan off and fight Mayweather whilst under UFC contract.
The only person in the world who destroys Jon Jones every single time is Jon Jones.
Haha very good
Bet your gaff on Jones,
Gane got out grappled by a one legged plodding Franics, Jones absolutely mercs him .,
Difficult to see how a guy whos been doing MMA for 4 years could lay a hand on Jones
Dana has to stop been a control freak and let his top fighters the opportunities to fight these fantasy fights. Diaz (ok hes not top but a huge draw) wanted to do the same but was let go, others will follow too and run down their contracts.
Massive lose for Francis & UFC
I can Francis just fizzling out now, he'll do one boxing match against some journey man like Chisora & get his ass whopped & not have a clue where to go form there ,
I honestly think staying in the UFC would have made Francis more money in the long run by becoming main stream famous,
He's 36, he can go to Bellator fight inferior opponents, they'll let him do whatever else he wants outside that. BKFC, boxing.
Yeah I cant see it going any other way, 5 round domination by Jones
PFL are seriously loaded also so he can make plenty from them without taking any risk.
I don't see why from a financial or competitive POV why Fury or Wilder would fight Francis but who knows with Fury.
Ngannou won't be good at boxing, but I suppose if he manages to get one boxing fight and even if he gets destroyed the money will have justified it.
Maybe he will be better at boxing than we think, but he has bum knees is near 37 and is pretty much jumping into the sport as a novice!
