Been sick since the 26th (and arguably on the evening of the 25th I'd say, just felt tired). Basically had none of the normal post-Christmas stuff.
This leaves me with only one option: do the entire damn thing again, at some stage later in the year.
House is still a wreck currently so I'm thinking March 25th, which is a Saturday, for doing the dinner again. Will have to buy a fake tree in the sales, send it up to the holiday house afterwards.
I geniuenly thought about doing a proper Christmas dinner all over again during the year, March 25th isn't a bad idea!
Currently feeling "tired" and a bit worried I'm getting sick too. That'd be a shame the first week back to work ;) In all seriousness though, hopefully it is just tiredness.
Man, care, wade, purpose - sounds like an interesting year is ahead!
Right, can’t put it off any longer, off to bed and Christmas 2022 hols will be over when I wake up 🙁
Best of luck to anyone back tomorrow, we’ll get through it together!
See you in the morning bud I’ll be in the depths of depression haha
The holidays have just flown.
It really does feel like yesterday when everyone was posting they were finishing up for 2 or 3 weeks!!!
I can safely say I achieved nothing I planned to over the holiday season....ah well!!
I'll be needing someone to talk me down off the ledge next Monday I suspect.
Hope the first few days back aren't too bad for you guys.
They really, really flew by!
I always say 99 days to Christmas until the big day goes like the wind, and boy, it did this year! I've had regular bank holiday weekends that felt like they lasted longer. 😪
I must make a list of things to do in January (small things, like spend some of my christmas Arnotts voucher, get a take-away, meet a friend for coffee, start a new book/show/podcast etc...) to make the month seem more bearable and less bleak. 🙂
I still have another day off and I’d like to think I’ll spend it wisely but I probably won’t 😂
Heading off on about 12 minutes sleep. 😴
So here we are. Those weird few days where I'm sitting at my laptop with the Christmas tree lights in the background, surrounded by Christmas decorations yet feel about as un-Christmasy as possible!
My OH relatives who were here with us just after Christmas are back to Ireland in mid January so will be stay with us again for a couple of days. Also have the dinner with siblings and respective others that we proposed till end of Jan. So a couple of things to look forward to.
I woke every hour thinking it was time to get up. And the night sweats although to be fair that was COVID induced!
The Christmas lights are my only saving grace, that and working from home. Although COVID isn't worth it....
Would you not take a couple of days sick leave? Rest when fighting a virus goes a long way!
Sadly January is my busiest time of the year in work, I really can't afford to lost a couple of days it will only cost me next week. I can log off if needed if things go south as the day progresses.
Any of you guys feeling any better at all?
Little man is much better, wife and myself are still suffering. Feels closer to a chest infection for me than anything else.
Good to hear little lad is on the mend, even that makes things a bit easier.
Wouldn't be surprised if you had both, seems to be a lot of that kind of stuff going around and your immune system is already trying to fight the COVID.
Weather here is mirroring my mood, dull and miserable!
I'm not in until tomorrow. Have been trying to go to bed and rise earlier but it has not worked out. Think I'm in for a shock tomorrow.
I was reflecting that when I was in was younger Christmas was about the run up and nights out but now, since I have a family, I more enjoy the break itself. Despite chest infections, head colds and covid marauding through the house it was a good year.
Same, think I socialised the least this year of any Christmas I can remember. Some family events and time at home playing games, watching movies etc. Not as much as I would have liked/hoped as seemed to constantly be on the go however over all was a good Christmas so wouldn't complain too much.
For everyone feeling a bit blue, it's only 34 days until our next Bank Holiday! 6th Feb.
The Biggest stretch we now have without a bank holiday is 84 days between the August and the October ones. And sure by then we will be well ramped up on the countdown!
That's the positive vibes that I need!
Not back until next Monday but looking out the window i might as well be in work, not going out in this, tv back on i suppose.
To make it worst wife gone out to see one of her friends, why do women have friend's🤷♀️
You described my dream day... no work and house to yourself.
Heaven, the very rare time it happens.
I never realised August to October was actually such a gap!
5 adults , a dog and a cat in my house. You would never have the place to yourself!!! ha ha 🤣
It's because August's one is early and October's is late, so it spans almost a full 3 months but by then you have had 6 Bank holidays before August's one and Summer holidays most likely so it's much easier to make it to October.
