There's already been chatter about Christmas FM in this forum so I thought it might be nice if we invited them in to talk to us!

Please welcome Ronan from Christmas FM - ChristmasFM (Ronan).

Christmas FM is a charity radio station on 100.3FM in Dublin, on 106.07 in Cork and online at this link here:

They're a volunteer station - everyone is doing it for free, for the enjoyment and to raise awareness and funds for the Simon Communities in Dublin and Cork. Everyone who is working on it can be found here.

Now, d'ye know what I'd like to do? I'd like to create the definitive list of Boards.ie top Christmas songs and get the lads to do a segment on that, live on air. What do ye reckon?

I wholeheartedly agree that starting XMAS FM live broadcasting in early in December and letting the 30 day license roll into New Years Eve would be great as Im really only getting to start my Christmas now due to work/ travel and prepping for Christmas 🎄😀

The licence expires at midnight on the 27th so they’re still operating within the terms. It seems they’re playing an 80’s Christmas mix on FM up to midnight to keep the frequencies warm for the launch of Classic Hits 8o’s.

105.2 ended at 12am and replaced with Classic Hits 80's

If the License expired at midnight, I don't know why they couldn't have kept it going reading out peoples messages etc after the "chart Show" ended at 7pm

As the man said, the temporary licenses run for 30 days. That is 30 days within a year so some operators space them out over a number of weekends, not necessarily all together. Obviously, in the case of Christmas FM, it has to be consecutive days for it to make sense. It should be borne in mind that it will continue online with presenters until the new year, and probably a bit after that. As regards making money, any money raised is for its charities. Christmas FM is not a commercial station and is run on a voluntary basis.

Sorry, I knew I said I would.

Was listening on Alexa to end of top 40 countdown. Number 1 was FONY. The presenter said a few thanks at 7pm and then play about 10 sec of a song (I think Justin Bieber) and then went to ads.

As you can see it seems FM played on with no presenter till midnight.

Hopefully someone was listen at midnight if that is deemed the ‘last song’.

I’m deeming the last song to be FONY.

Im not acknowledging Biebler as getting it and the play on until midnight doesn’t count as it wasn’t ChristmasFM cannon as the app was playing proper DJ shows.

Made it all the way in the run up without Christmas shoes. Got caught on Christmas day while slaving over the dinner prep :)

Sad to see the end of it. I think Declan's suggestion of 30 days from 1st of December is a good idea.

I agree in principal about the dates however I suspect that listenership falls dramatically after Christmas Day/Stephen’s Day. Would imagine there would be little value to the sponsors in the week after Christmas as opposed to the build up before?

Have decided I'll be listening to my Christmas playlist on my ipod on the flight home as feel like I've missed out on so much this year. I normally wouldn't play it after NYD but need to close out the season somehow and reckon I need to listen to the playlist in full at least once. It's a long flight so I'm not stuck for time
