No rush lads .Nice to see TG 4 HD . May be skinflint Virgin will follow .Most of what is on Virgin I have seen elsewhere in HD .
I think its 544 x 576 and I don't think VM are too bothered. It seems they would have to pay to have it in HD but with TG4 in HD who cares. It would be good for the sports though, footie and rugby. But as they say " It will never happen"
Didn't forget Daniel at the Opry
The transponder that is showing the FTA test pictures for RTÉ One HD with the label 1204 is an official test for BBC One South HD.
There also some other news about the single feed of BBC One SD for Sky and Freesat users in the UK.
According to a516digital on Twitter; that BBC One SD feed will go live on the 23rd of January. The service will also be given a special name from the BBC which is called 'Nightlight'.
There used to be a Night Light on RTE2 many years ago!
I wonder if Saorsat TG 4 is gone HD
Seem to have lost Paramount is there a new frequency?
A lot of the channels from Viacom namely Channel 5 including some from NickJr have moved to a new transponder. Also Paramount is now called 5Action.
Their old frequency was 10964 H 22000
Their new frequency is 11307 H 27500
I wondered at this too.
When I dumped Sky for gouging, I got an indoor Saorview antenna and it works fine, being fairly close to a large window.
But the quality of the Virgin channels is appalling. Is it simply that they are cheapskates? Or is there some technical reason for it?
The former...
TV3/VMTV never wanted to pay for carriage; sure in the analogue days they were only on the main transmitters and a couple of relays. So they’re going with the cheapest option possible and upselling their cable service to get HD.
Sky are worse for what they charge for standard definition.
It looks terrible on the big screens most watch these days.
Got rid of them over 4 years ago and don't miss it one bit.
Still have 2 sky boxes in a drawer.
The SID label 1204 has come back live to show tests of BBC One South in HD from today.
Wild Earth (1280 HD) currently testing on
11171 H 22000 5/6 DVBS QPSK SID 51118
No idea if this will be FTA. Picture doesn't look great but it is only a test
The resolution is a bit low
I have watched a small bit of WildEarth HD Safari coverage on Monday night. The content of the coverage was very good but there was a few glitches in the picture & sound quality.
Does EarthxTV HD have better picture and sound quality?
720p and calls itself HD. No bueno.
EarthxTV is full 1920x1080i25 HD. WildEarth has opted for the lower 1280x720p50 resolution more popular in Europe. However it should be stressed that this IS a test.
I recall hearing it would cost them about 1 million to move to HD on saorview.
It's costing money to be on 31e .Central European Satellite .Any where than Saorview HD .😡
Part of the move by BBC to close sd transmissions, Sky UK are apparently offering Sky Q boxes to customers still using sd boxes in to avoid customers loosing access to BBC services. The switchover is due by spring 2023, I wonder how many are using sd boxes on second tv's and as FTA receivers
BBC Two NI HD is due to launch on January 5th. The current BBC Two HD will be removed in Ireland.

That's a sting in the tail for viewers here, I liked having the UK network version on the EPG 347 here. I thought it might go to the 900's like BBC One London HD.
Get Freesat.
If people do keep Sky; will they still be able to tune in BBC Two England HD via Other Channels.
I would be thinking that if BBC Two Wales HD could be tuned into it using the correct parameters; would the version for England would be allowed to be in there like the version from Wales?
Yes, there should be no problem tuning in BBC2 England HD. There'll be lots of frequency changes for the BBC in the next few months, so it's worth keeping an eye here for updates on tuning details.
Oh I know it can be tuned in, just a shame to lose recording facilities.
BBC 1 London might disappear too, wasn't that only put there because of audio description or something like that , and it's not currently in HD anyway.
Lads a neighbour asked me to get Spiked back for him but from what I can tell its been dead for a year or more and replaced by 5Action which I tuned in there for him, he says he used to watch it up until a month ago when it went though and it was one of his fav channels, sounds like a Quest/Discovery Shed type thing from what I can get out of him (hes very old), any clue what was in that slot up until a few weeks ago? Like I said Ive tuned in 5Action now but he doesnt think it was that.
Seen to have problems with some channels in the last few days.
BBC4HD and ITV2HD are reporting tune failed.
Anyone else having problems with freesat?
