Its been long speculated that he's ill. Certainly his face in the last couple of years, has the appearance of a man taking many steroids, which can be used to mask the effects of debilitating medical treatment, such as that for cancer.
Hopefully he does die as soon as possible. I'm aware that its most likely that he would be replaced by someone else in his likeness, but perhaps the interruption could be enough to allow the ending of the conflict.
I don't know how reliable this source is,but interesting none the less.
I speculated something might be happening in Kremenna yesterday.
It's not quite confirmation, but there's lots of chatter from both sides that fighting is taking place.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces are having success in the Luhansk region - Kremenna is practically ours, it is a matter of tactics, it is cut off from the North, the Russians are beginning to withdraw their combat forces from Svatove to avoid encirclement.
The Russians are gradually beginning to look for ways to explain another military defeat.

The Saab gripen is cheaper and modern of the three aircraft and cheaper per hour to operate if I remember correctly

Just mentioned this in the Ukraine thread without seeing it here first. Looks like a major split is coming with the Russian Orthodox Church, as people now firmly associate it with the Russian regime and Putin (which it is in fact).
Very easy to imagine that December 24th-25th will become the new Christmas in all of Ukraine from now on, bringing them into line with Poland, Lithuania etc.

The Swedish fighter jets would be far more practical than anything American. They can land and take off from very short strips or even decent roads and motorways plus the engines are far easier maintained. This would leave the Ukrainians hugely flexible in where they could land, maintain and store the planes making them far harder for the Russians to find and target.
Greek catholic and not largely anyway.
Both Orthodox and Greek catholics celebrate Xmas on the 7th of Jan. Both are still using Julian calendar. Once they switch to Gregorian calendar (which is in progress but may take some time to get done) they ll be celebrating Xmas on the 25th of Dec.
Between that and the Kinburn Spit news, there may be a poster taking an extended Xmas break from the thread. It’s great news! I mean the Ukrainian gains.

My post was my view of what the US would like, not my predictions.
But since you raise it, youre not correct. In Feb people were predicting the quick defeat of Ukraine by Russia. When that didnt happen in May this year people have been predicting a stalemate. When in aug and sept Ukraine won some serious victories, they are now talking about the inevitable defeat of Russia and the debate is about whether it can be achieved over the next 12-15 months or not.
Im not saying that Ukraine will definitely restore their pre feb 22 borders within that time, but is it in sight - yes very much so, Id even go so fsr as to say its more likely than not. Restoring pre 2014 borders is also a very real possibility on the horizon, albeit more distant.
We know they're murdering scum but could this be an indication that they're running out of conventional weapons and moving to their more repulsive arsenal.
