The US would rather not have to deal with it at all. They were content with the pre Feb 22 status quo. Next is a quick defeat of Russia. Next is a negotiated settlement that the two countries can live with. The worst outcome for the US is if this keeps going on indefinitely
True, the longer the Russians are held up in Ukraine the better for the US as Nato countries get to live more safely and outside the scope of the Russian expansionist gaze
Bosnia, like Kosovo, is in the Russian reserve to ignite another armed conflict, - said Alexander Levchenko, Ukraine's exposol in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This is necessary to start another war in Europe and divert attention from Ukraine.
"As for the Croats and Bosnians in Bosnia, there is almost no pro-Russian sentiment. Republika Srpska is a completely pro-Russian enclave," he said on Espresso
According to Levchenko, it is through her that Moscow is trying to destabilize Bosnia and Herzegovina - interethnic, interreligious tensions, clashes in the formation of the government and actions against the High Representative of the international community in the country.
Seems plausible.
It's not just the US though. The UK have challenger tanks, Germany leopards.
Likewise there's a raft of European jets which could be more suitable for Ukraine.
For some reason a European country giving Ukraine a Mig or upgraded T72 is acceptable but an F16 or challenger tank is a no no.
If the west are with Ukraine until the end, then they need western tanks and airframes. The west needs to make a long term commitment by agreeing to training Ukrainians on NATO tanks and planes.
There's nothing to loose from the training. If/when the west finally agree to supplying the equipment, at least Ukraine soldiers will be trained
Patriot system will be great in a few months time, Ukraine could really use it right now though.
How do we know what training has been given to Ukrainian military? They could well have been prepared on several systems in anticipation that approval would eventually be forthcoming. What happens behind the scenes, on the battlefield and in the public space are different matters.
People have been predicting the quick defeat of Russia since May and here we are at the end of the year. Contained, pushed back - yes. But outright defeat - as in pre -Feb borders and Ukrainians able to live in peace: nowhere in sight
FSB V Russian Army.... who will win that one.
Ukraine's military intelligence (GUR) published an intercepted phone call from a Russian soldier to his girlfriend.
During the conversation, the trooper says that units still lack essential equipment and are quitting en masse.
He says: "Where is this so-called new equipment, which everyone is talking about?"
Someone mentioned a run on the banks in Russia. May be a rumor, but keep your fingers crossed.
They are attacking civilians in Kherson with phosphorous bombs-
We know they're murdering scum but could this be an indication that they're running out of conventional weapons and moving to their more repulsive arsenal.
My post was my view of what the US would like, not my predictions.
But since you raise it, youre not correct. In Feb people were predicting the quick defeat of Ukraine by Russia. When that didnt happen in May this year people have been predicting a stalemate. When in aug and sept Ukraine won some serious victories, they are now talking about the inevitable defeat of Russia and the debate is about whether it can be achieved over the next 12-15 months or not.
Im not saying that Ukraine will definitely restore their pre feb 22 borders within that time, but is it in sight - yes very much so, Id even go so fsr as to say its more likely than not. Restoring pre 2014 borders is also a very real possibility on the horizon, albeit more distant.

I love the sound of ATMs in the morning...
Some May find this triggering 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Nollaig Shona Duit, happy Christmas lads and ladies, seems weird saying it on this thread, but while we are safe and looking forward to presents , turkey and ham tomorrow, Ukrainians are manning the front hold back the orc's,
While civilians cower in shelters .
Depends how you pronounce shona, it should be a bot test 😂😂
A quick review of the last 12 hours:
Another unexpected death
more shopping center fires in the motherland
Merry Christmas
Ukraine are ignoring tradition & celebrating Christmas today instead of in January as the Russian Orthodox do.
Not surprising as they have recently been engaged in expunging the Moscow patriarch based orthodox church from the country, with every church, compound and monastery raided so far, looking likely to be a branch of the FSB.
Would they be any less vulnerable to manpads, or mig 31s than the ground attack planes they'd be replacing ?
Obviously Ukraine must be running low on pilots and planes by now ,
So they're going to need to train up on something, although finding quality pilots won't be easy ..
Isn't western Ukraine largely catholic anyway ? , Eastern would be more orthodox.
Many Happy Returns Gatling, to you and yours, and all Boards.ie , but especially all those extremely brave Ukrainians fighting the enemy at the gate on our behalf, Slave Ukraine.
Some good news reported from Ukraine:
Merry Christmas!
Between that and the Kinburn Spit news, there may be a poster taking an extended Xmas break from the thread. It’s great news! I mean the Ukrainian gains.
Greek catholic and not largely anyway.
Both Orthodox and Greek catholics celebrate Xmas on the 7th of Jan. Both are still using Julian calendar. Once they switch to Gregorian calendar (which is in progress but may take some time to get done) they ll be celebrating Xmas on the 25th of Dec.
The Swedish fighter jets would be far more practical than anything American. They can land and take off from very short strips or even decent roads and motorways plus the engines are far easier maintained. This would leave the Ukrainians hugely flexible in where they could land, maintain and store the planes making them far harder for the Russians to find and target.
More likely its a special Christmas "gift" from the genocidal psychopaths
Just mentioned this in the Ukraine thread without seeing it here first. Looks like a major split is coming with the Russian Orthodox Church, as people now firmly associate it with the Russian regime and Putin (which it is in fact).
Very easy to imagine that December 24th-25th will become the new Christmas in all of Ukraine from now on, bringing them into line with Poland, Lithuania etc.
What Bakhmut offensive doing?
*beep beep beep*
Seems highly unlikely Ukraine are going to signal a risky amphibious assault to the enemy.
