Both CN235s are now flying again - 252 is up today and 253 flew the Beirut-Malta-Baldonnel repatriation mission this week.
Why was one parked up was it parts issue or lack of technicans?
252 only flew back from Spain this week, passed 253 as it was flying to Malta.

If you cared to follow them for longer you would quite simply see them disappear off flight trackers well before they head out over the sea.

I think the "Spanish" reference is probably just in respect of where the aircraft is made. Could it be one of the two ex-UN ones that were offered a year or two ago and which remain stored in Spain (I think)?
I’d agree that it’s unlikely we are buying a Spanish airforce one, though if it one of the second hand ones, why not take them both (if only to use as a parts frame), and will they be refitted with DAS or would it be strictly limited to non hostile environments?
Serbia this year bought two new transport 295s for just over 30 million each . If we are buying a new one there would be long lead in time. I wonder is there any chance we could get the two yemen ones or the two UN planes for 30 million since there second hand?
The two "white tails" are civilian so presumably lack any military comms or other equipment. However, if I recall correctly, they each have only a few hundred hours on the airframe so they should be in near-new condition. I doubt they'd be sold at a knock-down price but who knows?

Back to the Kabul scenario. If it happened again, a second hand civvy airlifter, still wouldn't be an appropriate aircraft to send in and we'd STILL be looking for a feckin lift from the French!

Positive news if true, I had figured here before that something would happen, however the ‘business case’ has been compelling so the fact it has taken so long is the real issue. Unfortunately I feel the problem is not necessarily one of funding, but the capacity of the AC manage a new resource given it along with the entire DF are so denuded … anyway it will prove to be a worthwhile purchase and in terms of value for money will deliver huge returns as per the existing CASA …
At the end of the Day this will be a major step forward for the air corps with an asset they never had before.
The air corps have made a pitch for extra C295s as we seen in the FOI document.
They are the professionals and know what they want and what they can operate,the casa 295 makes so much sense for a million reasons compare to a herc
May this be a start for more postive future for the Air Corps and the defence forces!
Oh come on, at the rate procurement happens, if it’s an imminent sign off it’s been in process for at least months. And we know they have been talking about it for that length of time as throughout the year it’s been flagged.
