That's what I mean sorry. Sheridan said, that's the road to Sophie's house from the bridge
My opinion from watching the Jim Sheridan documentary would be that Marie Farrell knows more than she's letting on. Her story changed too many times, her behaviour was extremely strange and she should be charged with obstructing the investigation, then charges dropped if she gives the actual story of what she knows.
Ya exactly. Maybe it is just attention seeking gone too far but she definitely acts like she's something to hide
My opinion is that Marie Farrell is a fruitcake.
Can't believe a word out of her. I wouldn't even be convinced she was out in a car that night with an imaginary boyfriend.
They moved to Schull in 1995 from Glanmire, prior to that they lived in England.
I believe they lived in a rented farm house down near Schull, Clew bay I think it was.
When she said "I didn't know that" about the Kealfada road, I thought she meant she didn't know at the time of the murder, rather than when she was talking to Sheridan 20 odd years later. It would be odd alright if she wasn't aware of where Sophie lived in relation to Kealfada bridge after all that time.
Barry Roche did a good timeline in the Times a few years ago;
Edit; 'Crewe Bay farm' I believe was their rented house near Schull
thanks for that link. that's very interesting that they only moved to Schull a year earlier.
the way Sheridan posed the question to her in the car, it was definitely current tense - I think anyway. found the reference. Episode 4 @ 11:20 - "you know this is the turn to Sophies?" - Sheridan; "no I didn't know that" - Marie Farrell
it's all trivial anyway. unless someone confesses, I doubt there'll ever be enough evidence for a court case.

Looks like they're back at the scene, wonder what they hope to find after all this time?
Call me an old sceptic, but is it anything to do with the time of the year?
"It is understood gardaí hope to carry out some preliminary mapping work at the site over the coming days."
In the name of sweet Jaysis..... What do they expect to gain from mapping the area??
Nearly three decades of rain, frost, wind, more rain....... This is a real head scratching exercise...
Unless something buried?
Surely any forensics above ground would be long gone not to mention the scene has had god knows who over it.
Bailey claims to have useful information for the gardai
He doesn't seem to do anything with this 'information '
Was it bailey who came up with the French hitman theory?
The ultimate distraction the foreign hitman
A couple of Gardai will spend tomorrow night until 10 am Fri at the scene hoping for some divine intervention. I believe a medium will also be in attendance.
Ah now. I can’t imagine what they’d find 26 years later. This is bordering on ridiculous.
Or someone was seen at the site recently acting suspiciously... and they think returning to the scene of the crime?
Something buried?
Otherwise its baffling.
There’s plenty of crazies visiting the site by all accounts, then posting selfies on Instagram. I can’t imagine what they hope to unearth after a quarter of a century.
Reaching here... maybe they left something at the scene?
For the love of God please tell me you are joking about the medium. That's embarrassing
Are the gardai effectively confirming that the forensics done back then were piss poor if they think that searching the same area now will find something?
I think that's the assumption anyway
The whole investigation was piss poor
And went to retrieve it 26 years later. Really now 😂😂

It seems pretty clear to me that the Gardai have DNA evidence belonging to the killer that was extracted from the fingernails of the victim by Dr. John Harbison after he examined the body and kept in safe keeping since.
At the time the hairs could not definitively be proven to be from one particular person but with the passing of time and the inevitable advances in DNA technology it is now safer to proceed with a prosecution.
The i's will be dotted, the t's will be crossed and the killer will be brought to justice.
What's all this
Surely bailey could be eliminated if this is the case
Even if they were able to rule out one or two prime suspects, that would be huge.
The Garda press conference last week and the 'mapping' of the site this week are just procedural. The Gardai are just doing it to keep Sophie's family happy - it's all about ' look we're really trying here'. Really they are no further on.
The press conference was particularly pathetic - they just needed to do it as it coming up to the anniversary of Sophie's death.
Yes, hopefully the murderer will be brought to justice soon.
These cold case lads are different gravy Deeec, I'd be expecting results and sooner rather than later.
I wouldn't be expecting results
"Seems pretty clear" doing a lot of heavy lifting there. Any of this confirmed?
