Not sure how this will be received but having listened to all of second captains, the guardian and totally football podcasts during the World Cup I found the football insight they offered to be uninspired. Same with what I witnessed the times I tuned into the Tv analysis. Very little interesting was being said.
some pundits are absolutely useless especially on the guardian podcast (Troy Townsend, I’m looking at you) but overall found the coverage very meh.

Its kind of true, Ken excels at talking about the "gossip" of the game but when it comes to analysing a game and talking about tactics they are not very good, but that is modern football, usually the premier league is a soap opera rather than whats on the playing field, SC contributors are guilty of it too, Delaney probably being the worst.
But thats why we tune into SC. It would be boring talking just tactics, then it would be just a rugby podcast
Wilson and Vickery would be the only two who give you an insight into the game as well as contributing to the other side of it

Before the final Auclair said this Argentina team …well I don’t know the exact words but his point was this team was basically average outside of messi and not worthy of winning a World Cup.
today on the guardian podcast he said this team had better players outside of messi than the 86 champions had outside of Maradona.

It was funny with the Auclair thing the last time they spoke i thought Eoin was a bit, i don't want to say antagonistic but it came across more like he didn't like Auclair or was nervous, there was none of his usual back and forth with the guest that Eoin does so well. Then yesterday's pod he really seemed more proactively trying to get him to say he was wrong mere hours after his country has lost the world cup final. I definitely picked up on something both times they talked in the last week.
Not usually Eoins style maybe there's some previous there (can't imagine why they'd ask him on at all in that case) or else i'm blowing it completely out of the water :-) Either way i loved the world cup pods and i'll miss them big time. Ken is a genius at these events and while the tactics are never high on the list of topics i enjoy it for that very reason.
