Re: JDM prices getting out of hand. I've said this before and I'll say it again, have a look ok the Jap sites to see how much this type of stuff goes for now OVER THERE. Then add your shipping, VRT, nox, VAT etc. The market is open to the States now and the price of these cars has gone up everywhere. If you don't have your classic JDM tucked away by now you've either missed the boat or be prepared for deep pockets.
US can buy them at 25 years old, most people here are waiting for low VRT at 30 years old but you are competing with a US buyer for that 30 y.o. car.
Better off picking up something 20 years old and sucking up the VRT and motor tax.
Thats fair enough, but just because it costs a certain amount to buy and vrt a car doesn’t automatically mean that its going to be worth that amount on Irish plates.
For example if I wanted to import a bog standard 15 year old Golf from the UK nowadays it would probably cost me around €10k to do so. It doesn’t automatically mean that it would be worth that amount on Irish plates. Same applies to a lot of Jap stuff.
Cheap auto 7 seater for sale in Meath for €7,500 on DoneDeal
The 1.6HDi never worked right in these Picassos and the auto
gear box was awful! He will be left with this unless he can get
someone through on finance.
I don’t think its too far off price wise, considering there are higher mileage ones with asking prices of €6k
Don't know if this has been posted.
You probably be better off burning the money. I know you would be burning fuel(money) driving it around and let's not forget reliability.
I can only imagine insurance would be a nightmare given the year, engine size and the fact that its left hand drive.
Ad does not make for easy reading. It's just a wall of text with poor punctuation.
Considering people can't get insurance on bog standard 10 year old cars and some insurers won't even cover you on something 200hp just for being under 30 regardless of full NCB I'd like to think they'd tell you to píss right off with that yoke.
I'm sure you could get it insured as a classic, I have a 2002 on a classic policy. What a dog though, must be one of the worst cars to own in Ireland!
Ah I wouldn’t say its the worst. If it had high tax it would be the worst. Luckily its only €333. Might suit someone with trade insurance or commercial insurance
Oh I was thinking it was the full 1800 tax. Cruising around in that for 333 per year would have a certain quality to it.
An ordinary (non-commercial) punter will pay the full whack for motor tax on that as the €333 Commercial rate will not carry over to them... Same with cars that are motor tax exempt; unless the new owner is also exempt then they have to pay whatever the prevailing tax rate is.
edit. Ignore.
€2200 with that sort of damage is quite steep
Looks like it was a fair auld "tip" 😲
Bordering on a shunt I'd say
The whole wing is missing which would suggest someone thought about fixing it and now has second thoughts.
It's a pity because it does look as if it was kept well (right up to the moment when it was poleaxed).
It has some stuff done alright but it's not worth anything like what he's asking for it.
Doesn't say how he made 250hp. Would you even make that number just on Irish petrol? RON 95, e5 or e10 I'm not sure which we are on atm.
Yeah, I don't see it either from what he's posted.
Absolute dreamer.
Unless Im missing something it has RBC inlet, induction, exhaust manifold, cat back exhaust, upgraded throttle body, larger injectors and k-pro remap. Not outside the realm of possibility to get 250hp on irish fuel with those mods. Lovely spec if you are looking for a modified ep3.
Regardless of the spec the price is off the wall.
You would still need cams to make that much.
id say you could post most used car for sale over 10 years on here now.
06 Eos with a few weeks NCT, 7 owners and you have to collect from Malaga, in Spain, a country famous for driving left hand drive cars.
10,000 euros please.
A Gti eos wouldn't even be worth that
To be fair, that car in Spain is actually priced correctly. Its also listed for sale on Spanish sites, so I think it was just a bit pointless of the seller to list it on Donedeal, more so than them being a dreamer.
Fúck sake cars currently located in Malaga. You would think it would be heavily discounted because of that fact not increased in price.
Surely being Irish reg and RHD reduces its value?
they have co2 based registration taxes in Spain too, and you can only have the car there for 6 months before you need to register it.
Yeah I’m not sure, I follow a lad on Youtube who used to sell a lot of UK reg cars in Spain. Not sure how it affects the value tho.
