Was great to see both Black Bucket and Rustbucket in UD the last few weeks
Passed it yesterday and the place looked a mess inside. A lot of people around so may be a final push to get it done.
Last place I remember making such an effort to get open for Xmas was Spoons in DL, and that was a total disaster

Question for the kinnegar drinkers, has anyone noticed a change in rustbucket over the last year or so? Seems like if I have more than 4 I am down for the day with a hangover, but not if I drink similar strength beers, specifically rustbucket, seems like a few others I know have the same problem.
Hasn't been any recipe change anyway. In terms of raw ingredients the only major difference between it and most of the other Kinnegar IPAs is that there's a portion of rye in the mash bill.
Maybe you have an intolerance to rye? That would be the only difference compared to any other similar beer with standard malts in the recipe
Yeah, I've considered the rye thing, but I was on black bucket the other day and no impact the next morning, town branch rye would be my go to as well. just gonna have to file it under one of those things.

Is Galway Bay just skipping their annual barrel aged stouts (200 Fathoms et al)? Between Boundary & GBB socials, they were mentioning a barrel aged version of the collab GBB did with the Italian brewery (Sixty Ships Down), but I’ve seen nothing on socials to suggest wider release.
I heard they had an issue with their bottling machine, which is why 200 Fathoms is delayed until early next year.
Popped into Fidelity earlier. I like it so far anyway. Had a Whiplash The Dead porter, Fatal Deviation stout and Third Barrel Set to Smooth salted caramel stout.

They haven't posted on any of their socials in a month. You'd expect a pub to be sending out messages to get people in for Christmas.
Or have the lights on or the doors open, which they didn't yesterday.

If they're getting rid of their own brewing equipment I'd say it's more likely it'll become just another Diageo/Heineken place. "Any craft beer?" "Yeah, we've Cute Hoor, and Hophouse 13..." I really hope I'm wrong, JWS was a great spot.
Guinness / Diageo increasing prices of their pints by 12c + VAT from 1 Feb.
This, of course, follows Heineken's previously announced price hike. Guinness promised, at the time, not to increase their prices for the remainder of 2022. They kept their word and announced price hikes 10 days in to 2023, lol.
The most common complaint I hear / see is that craft beer is just more expensive than macro stuff. These price increases must be getting craft beer closer and closer to parity with macro stuff (for now, until craft need to up their prices). I know Galway Bay Brewery posted a bunch to say they were open to supplying new pubs when Heineken announced their price hike - wonder will they try it again. I wonder too will many publicans rip out their Guinness gear when they did so loudly back in December for Heineken...
I think Treaty City is cheaper than at least half the Heineken/Diageo range in Limerick.
The macro stout and house lager are probably cheaper but Hophouse 13, fake craft and the premium lager are dearer.
Well I would love to see more craft beer on tap, just wondering will craft brewers do the same and add the difference back onto their pints, I hope not.
