What's gonna be the GME or AMC of the year? Money to be made still.
Well the last one I was waiting on was a SAYE scheme that only matured last week, all others were sold earlier on in the year. My main position was in the SAYE scheme as it was 18,000 grand over 3 years, and luckily done well out of it about 10,000 grand profit pre tax, but as you rightly say it was double that profit this time last year but nothing could be done until maturity date, anyways could be alot worse I suppose.
Weakening USD fecking things up
Any thoughts on where USD-EUR is going?
USD down, stocks down.
Anyone else down big?
I have a small bit in USD so down on those but most are in GBP which has been slightly stronger last few weeks.
Pain in the backside today paying CGT. Revenue wouldn't accept any of my card details. Called the help desk put through to payments team only to be told all lines are busy then call drops.
I have money in Hiscox and SJPT which went well from a covid bounce. All down from historical highs but will be a long hold.
Can set up Payment through ROS.
Tesla continues to tank
Amazon - the turd of everyone's portfolio.
I'm sure bezo's is having a great laugh at the expense of us peasants.
check their reports vs your account statement. I've found the account statement has different readings -mainly on non EUR denominations. EUR seems to be ok.
Same for me. Tax report overstated my gain by about €200. Only thing I could see was that it uses end of day FX rates in the tax report rather than realised FX rates in the excel download.
It'll be a decade before I break even the way things are going.
Is it time to buy? Few examples ...........
Amazon now at $87 , 12 month high of $174
Apple now at $134 , 12 month high of $182
Microsoft now at $244 , 12 month high of $344
Tesla now now at $150 , 12 month high of $402
DXY will probably get stronger next year. The exchange rate will be poor again.
I think the whole world has cottoned on to the fact that he's a bit of a tit, who got very lucky, but now his luck is fast running out.
Tesla was an interesting story but they've been caught and passed out, not even top selling EV in Ireland.
How realistic are those highs though? We won't be seeing the FED pumping in trillions again!
Tesla has never been much of a seller in Ireland
Any opinions on Berkshire Hathaway as along-term hold?
BRK.B
I am thinking of placing approx 7% of my financial assets in this share.
Can we just close the markets until the new year? Utterly brutal.
Like someone else said it seems like it will be years until I break even!
Buffett - "The stock market is the only market where things go on sale and all the customers run out of the store...."
Run out today, and maybe stay out until the sales are in full swing before running back into the store 🙄
Anybody looking at Tesla as a recovery play ? If Elon Musk resigns as CEO from Twitter and focus's back on Tesla ... can the SP recover quickly ?
Most of my portfolio is BRK.B
It'll perform basically the same as S&P500. Just back test it over any 5/10 year period.
It's very diversified. If BRK.B doesn't track the market pretty well, something is gone very badly.
The great thing about my 40k portfolio being down 25% is that a 1% day drop is only 300 euro and not 400! 😋
question is whether prices now are more realistic than the 12 month highs? I think a lot of stocks prices were overblown during covid. Coming down a bit now back towards precovid levels.
The current average PE ratio of the S&P 500 is 20.4 (Dec 2022). In Dec 2021 it had a peak of 38.2. It tends to hover around the 20ish mark.
You see the historic values here. I don't know if this chart accounts for inflation. (Post edit - inflation is irrelevant with this ratio.)

Price will have to go lower when their earnings drop next year so.
Does anybody have any opinions on Disney?
Well, I'm here to rescue your year 😅 I think EDESA Biotech has the chance to be the best buy of 2022 or 2023. They have been given fast track designation by the FDA for a Covid therapy drug that has shown a 84 per cent reduction in mortality at 28 days for severe Covid cases. I've listed some of the good things happening with this company in the near term. Currently trading at a ridiculous price as infested with Dark Pool shorts which eventually have to cover. THIS IS GOING TO BE HUGE (imho, do your own research!)
Current marketcap @ $1.87 = 36M
O/S shares - 19.3M
Current cash on hand - approx ~$8.5m - have said in their yearly 10k, have 12 months worth of cash.
Long-term debt commitments - 0

I've been with this company over 2.5 years and it's now looking stupid good in my opinion. www.edesabiotech.com read the last number of PRs and 10k SEC filing. It'll be the best thing you've done today. The bad news - Up over 100 per cent already this week.
EDSA had been up approx 40 percent since the above post, back to just 20 per cent up but on another run again. Should be in $3s if not $4s by year end.
