The king is dead, long live the king.
Only 102 days to lights out for 2023..
Loads of scam/fraud going on with it at the minute. I flagged 3 profiles of people scamming "selling" tickets and neither Facebook nor Instagram have actually actioned it. I've manually flagged those profiles on the respective pages.
Sauber had Vasseur as both CEO & Team Principal so Seidl likely takes both roles.
Audi might be looking at emulating Mercedes set up where Wolff also has both roles. Explains a bit more why Seidl took the job.
Red bull have dropped Tezos from their partners list apparently.
Good. The sooner crypto is pushed out of advertising anything the better.
I see Saudi has taken the opening race of the 2024 season. Melbourne has extended its contract until the mid 2030s. It's a pity really because Melbourne is a poor race almost every year and Saudi is sports washing.
F1 is a grubby sport so I suppose we just have to accept were a bit grubby for supporting the sports washing.
At this stage all top level sport is grubby and filled with corruption and sportswashing. That's not excusing it, but it's just the way it seems atm.
Motorsport.com: Ford linked to F1 return with Red Bull.
Ford supposedly thinking about a return to F1 and linked with Red Bull. I wouldn't bet on anything that crops up in the off season coming to pass, but it's worth keeping an eye on anyway.
Yeah it's a pity. I'd like to think the sports I follow aren't that grubby, but F1 has absolutely no morals.
Mick is no longer with the Ferrari driving academy and is now reserve driver for Merc...
Since the deal with Porsche fell through it looks like Red Bull are fully committed to the direction of independently developing their own power units for the future.
However they're not in the business of selling cars and a competitive F1 team having zero automobile branding would be unusual to say the least, so it makes a lot of sense that manufacturers who maybe don't want to get directly involved in F1 in a works role would be keen to get on board in a branding exercise, and on Red Bull's side they'll no doubt be able to get funding and technical assistance in return so it would be win-win for any partnership that does end up happening.
In reality though it would probably only be as much of a true return for Ford as Alfa Romeo was with Sauber.
Delighted for Mick. Feel like he was hard done by at Haas and I hope Merc can mentor him a bit and we see him back.
I don't see Ford getting too involved. If they do it will basically just be a marketing exercise like Aston Martn was with Red Bull and then with Racing Point and like Alfa Romeo is with Sauber.
The Ford CEO said a few months ago to AutoCar I think it was that Ford had no interest in getting back into F1.
Williams rankings over tha last 20 years. Well at least they can no fall any further.
seen that alright, pretty shocking, williams must have been devastated by it before his death
With Ford wanting to label the Red Bull engines as theirs, Honda seemingly interested to come back on board and Porsche looking for a team to supply, from the engine side, it seems F1 is doing really well. Its a pity that they are against Andretti as 11th team.
I'd forgotten how well Bottas and Massa did at Williams
Like Haas this year, it shows the value of having an experienced driver... Although the car still needs some pace of course
Great point that's easily overlooked
Regards Williams, wow, what a shocker.... I guess they just want to keep the show on the road until decent investment comes.
Then with decent investment does that mean moving away from Merc as a supplier? What I'd they opt for a RB supplier?
So many multivariables
Even more shocking when you include Williams' 90s results. I remember that Rothmans car being so dominant; it was like the Merc or Red Bull of today.
First car launch of 2023 announced.
Aston Martin on the 13th of February.
I am questioning why Williams is not personally delivering a fruit hamper on a daily basis to Porsche. If I think about it, did the sacking of Jo's Capito pave the way for a future engine supplier?
This is the first I'm hearing that it was a sacking.
It's very vague. Unclear if he was pushed or walked.
Read it that Jost and the other guy were fired. Susie Wolff is rumoured to take over.
Possibly finally making Williams to Mercedes-Benz what Alpha Tauri are to Red Bull.
Well the designer of that Williams is the designer for Red Bull, so it makes sense.
Speaking of grubby, seems F1 is following FIFAs lead:
Disappointing to see, but as long as sport is reliant upon Middle Eastern money then it’s only going to get worse, and more difficult morally to follow.
Had Seb been on the grid next year I would have expected him to ignore it on occasion, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Hamilton ignore it too. At least, I hope he does. A message can be more powerful after being told to be silent.
I hope Hamilton ignores it too, but you just know a certain section here will still bitch about him doing it.
Ferrari launch on the 14th of February.
A deep red Ferrari, yes please
Who or what are PMI?
