She's a Mbappe fan, and did watch the game, in Paris.

So bizarre, new generation of fans don’t even support teams but individuals!

Messi now going to get his 8th Ballon d’Or next year no doubt even if he doesn't play another game again this season.

Best final I’ve ever seen , what a game.

Happy for messi, none of the ego, proper Goat.

Went in full on for France but by the end I didn't care who won. What an absolute belter of a final.

Don't like the Argentinian team but love their fans and can't begrudge them after a 36 year wait. Especially as a Limerick hurling fan.

Such a pity because he would be a neutral hero if he wasn't such a cnt after every penalty.

To be fair to him he's been brilliant for psg so far this year too. It's deserved if he does get it.

That is part of the Argentine culture though. Alexis MacAllister's auld fella (Carlos) said he did make the cut under Valdano because he was too nice.

"Mac Allister’s competitive appearances for Argentina were limited to the playoff against Australia that  qualified them for the 1994 World Cup. story goes he was left out after kicking Ariel Ortega in a Boca-River clásico. “No, the opposite!” he protests. “It was because I didn’t kick him. I should have buried him. I didn’t play well, although I don’t think a decision was made based on one game. [Jorge] Valdano said every player needs a small quota of criminality inside and that day of all days I didn’t."

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

So you like cynical tackles, time-wasting, playacting, winding-up opponents and all the obnoxious shithousery that several Argentinians got up to and think that's the right way to play? Now I get why the ref was good in your eyes. *Thumbs up*

I don't know who will cry more tonight and beyond, Cristiano Ronaldo or some people in here. Well done Argentina. They were the better team. Fair play to France, they belatedly made it a great spectacle.

I thought you would have preferred the moral victory type loss in that case! 😉

My final team of the tournament (4-3-3):

    G) Martinez (Argentina)

    RB) Hakimi (Morocco)

    CB) Varane (France), Gvardiol (Croatia)

    LB) Tagliafico (Argentina)

    CM) Modric (Croatia)

    DM) Amrabat (Morocco)

    CM) Mac Allister (Argentina)

    RW) Messi (Argentina)

    ST) Alvarez (Argentina)

    LW) Mbappe (France)

Heading into the final, I would have had Griezmann, Hernandez and Giroud as locks for the side but I can't have them in on the basis of their final displays. Not crazy about Tagliafico at LB but the standard of LBs has been pretty poor imo. Maybe Sosa of Croatia could have made it. Honourable mentions for Ounahi and Kovacic who were very good in midfield, while Saiss and Aguerd were solid at the back when fit. Forgot about Fernandez; he was vital for Argentina when he came into the side.

I think they’re great. I don’t actually care about the play acting and so on, once they don’t get away with it.

I think the red was great because he didn’t let them away with it. I don’t think they were anywhere near as bad with the nonsense as people make them out to be, but the ref really kept them in line tonight.

From a drama point of view the World Cup had it all. Up to final though felt it lacked a few classic games but final made up for that somewhat.

Won't be a cow milked in Donabate or Foxford tonight.

Delighted for Messi! Best in the world and now there’s no dispute.

Now that he’s no longer there, I’ll be happy to see the rest of those shíthousing time wasters out at the earliest opportunity, though.

I was gonna disagree when I saw the 11 but agree with what you said after.

Hernandez did have a good final though and I thought when France were lost he was one of the few still fighting

Agree, strange that Ronaldo is getting mentioned more on here tonight.

    Hope Piers Morgan is ok.

I don't know how to deal with going from this level of historic drama to watching EFL Cup games. Nothing beats the World Cup.
