Clerical Officer in the Civil Service 2022 | Civil Service - publicjobs.ie
Thats great.. My oom is in the 600's, id say ill be lucky to be called for interview before Feb. Are they still conducting interviews via Teams?
Zoom
My interview is tomorrow. Any heads up on the interviews today? Anything I need to know or should focus on? I have wrote out and studied example answers for all competencies. Just hoping they don’t try catch you off guard and throw curve ball questions . I tend to freeze in situations like that :(
They absolutely won't try to catch you off guard. If anything they will try to steer you right.
Just have your examples ready. They may cut you off but they do that due to time constraints, and usually when you have satisfied a competency they move on quickly. Know the civil service values just in case they ask - independence, integrity, impartiality, equality, fairness and respect.
Sell yourself like you're a sure thing 😎
Best of luck. What's your OOM? I'm in the 500s so trying to figure out if/when I could be called.
My OOM is 190. I was in last years CO comp too and passed my interview in April. I got put in Revenue. I am there the last 4 months now but I’m looking to leave and switch departments. This is a quicker process then waiting 2 years for an internal transfer. Last year I was OOM 1069 and was called for my interview the end of April. I didn’t get given my starting date till August then. I’d say you might be called for interview by or around February hopefully.
Excellent info, thanks. That's why I've gone for the TCO aswell. Hopefully hear something early in the new year.
Hi Furrybones
Are you enjoying the position of CO? What does your day consist of
cheers
OOM 160ish kilkenny, got offered revenue starting January, have done x2 tco in another department. Wondering is revenue remote training and once done can work be continued to be remote?
I am in Revenue at the moment and most of my training was done remote over teams. Revenue training branch do virtual classes and a lot of training over the OneLearning platform online. Our office has now started 1 day a week so we only have to come in on a Thursday. Very rare everyone is even in on that Thursday as people have appointments or if you are sick you can avoid coming to the office.
Every branch is different but from what I’ve heard it’s like 80% WFH.
Had my interview yesterday, does anyone have any idea of how long it usually takes to hear back on whether you passed or not?
Might be before Xmas else shortly after
I had my results in April in about 5-6 days.
great thanks 😀
Hoping so 🤞
I was told in my interview yesterday that results would definitely be out before Christmas. The last day of interviews is Friday so I would expect it to be next week, Tuesday or Wednesday.
Yep was told the same, within 2 weeks or just after xmas then a background check :)
I asked in my interview and was told we will get our results before Christmas. Best of luck to you 🤞
Anyone know how long the panels for this competition will last?
I saw a few posts back that someone said the panel is being extended past Jan 2023 but I dunno for how long.
Atm there are 2 competitions, nationwide I think finishes in January 2023 but Dublin is until January 2024.
Thank you! Best of luck!
@Moomooland great! My interviewer said something along the lines of in the coming weeks but I couldn’t remember exactly. Delighted we will know before Christmas ! Best of luck
I made EO recently which is another kettle of fish, but I loved the CO role. I was busy, but the work wasn't difficult. There's no expectation for new COs to know anything either, sure they think you're brilliant if you can pull a word doc together 😛 What the day consists of will depend on the department you get, and whether you have a front-facing job or have no/limited dealings with the general public.
Is there much over time in the Civil service? I'm taking a bit of a pay cut if I get in so hoping over time would help.
State Exam Commission is the only place I know of that has any overtime. As a rule, I don't think overtime is a thing in the CS, but I'm open to correction.
It is very very rare and only happens in extreme circumstances. One example was when covid hit and vast amount of contacts were received into departments re: Covid support schemes for employers and employees so it required extra few hours work by staff (maybe 10/12 hours OT pay)
So don't depend on OT to help the drop in salary as it is very unlikely you'll ever see such OT.
Thanks all, was told revenue, Passport office and justice tend to have OT but I'll go with you guys and just budget a bit better 😂
I'm in DSP and we've had two lots of overtime in the last few weeks, one to deal with the community welfare backlog and the other is for the PPSN fiasco. It doesn't happen often but it happens. My wife is in the CRO and she's done OT twice in 6 years.
Hi, I’ve recently been placed from this competition & really unhappy with my dept 😞 is there anything I can do? Anyone in a similar situation? I’m already updating my cv 🙄🙄
