If you think she is in the same bracket as Wallace and Daly you really know nothing about politics.
Well considering Renua got about 2% of the vote and she disappeared soon after but yet you think she is "badly missed" would make me think your own grasp on politics is weak.
Not defending Wallace or Daly by the way. I think they are all nobs.
Do you have a source for her saying that "infertile people have no right to get married" or is it just some non-sequitur you made up yourself?
Thanks
The bit in the quotes is what she said. That's how quotes work.
Anyway I'm done commenting on a washed up former TD on a thread about 2 other clowns.
Try reading your quote again. Let me give you an analogy:
"Working is primarily about money, main purpose being the need to earn enough to live"
Does that mean that I am saying that if you have enough money to survive without working that you should not be allowed to work?
Many people would agree with her that marriage is primarily (not wholly... she never said that) about children. Others can disagree if it doesn't apply to them, but I think that primarily it is about children. Stating that fact is not making it illegal to marry for other reasons. Would you not be aware that the reason many people get married is to start a family? Again, I'm not saying all. I'm saying many. This is common sense
Nobody needs to get married to start a family, it's not 1950.
Well, there's a Tesco up the road from me... probably more secretly installed around the place... 😁
And the quotes do not say infertile people have no right to get married. You are talking rubbish.
The big problem I have with Lucinda Creighton isn't her views on marriage it's her view that it was preferable to allow women to die rather than have an abortion.
Not a peep out of Wallace or Daly over this Qatar bribery scandal, my bet is they are keeping their heads down as Wallace especially doesn't want anyone looking too closely at his own support of China and Russia
Was thinking precisely the same thing, coupled with initial wondering if they were part of the scandal when I first saw the headlines. I just automatically assumed chances were, they had their hand in the till here.
They'll want to hope this scandal doesn't kickstart some House Cleaning by the parliament - and it could well do. Wallace, Daly and a bunch of politicians across the continent will suddenly sweat bullets at the prospect of some forensic accounting sent their way.
The curious case of the dog that didn't bark.
Exactly and whatever about Daly, Wallace has been caught with his hand deep in the till twice before, a leopard never changes its spots
I actually don't think they will have been involved in the Qatar bribery scandal. Not that they wouldn't want to take money if it was going but Putin would kill them if two of his pet MEPs started taking money from someone else. Daly and Wallace may not be the brightest but they won't want to spend the rest of their lives running a geiger counter over every drink.
Ohh im not saying they were involved in the Qatar bribery, simply pointing out they are unusually quiet during this issue when many would expect them to be making hay of it. Their silence screams to me they dont want to draw attention at this time as they may well have something else to hide in this regard.
Do you evidence they have accepted money from Putin/Russia or is this speculation?
I think it's giving them both way too much credit to suggest that Qatar either know who they are or give a fk about them if they do.
I would also say Putin doesn't give a sht what they say or do as long as they are still stupid enough to rant about NATO or whatever.
Wallace and Daly are two tiny plankton in a very big pond.
I don't like Lucinda but that is a very weird stretch and twist of what she said.
Marriage is primarily about children.
So where does that leave an infertile person if it's a reason to block 2 men or 2 women because they can't procreate.
Either she doesn't believe infertile people should marry or that was just a smokescreen answer for homophobia.
Well the only thing more stupid than being a shill for Putin is being an unpaid shill for Putin.
Did she actually say that, or are people making leaps in reasoning?
Claire Daly yet again..... sigh
No leap in reasoning required
Creighton voted against the Protection of Life During Pregnancy Act, the sole purpose of which was to ensure a woman's right to an abortion if a pregnancy threatened her life.
They're UI's and nothing more.
Useful idiots.
Unfortunately not useful to us or our farcical political arena.
I'm perversely curious what possible rationale Daly would have had for this small piece of retroactive acknowledgement of a genocide. No doubt she'd bristle at anyone suggesting An Gorta Mór wasn't a genocide, even if both incidents share similar political haziness.
I honestly used to think Daly had principles and I just entirely disagreed with her politics, the last year has shown she has none whatsoever much like Wallace who stole from his own employees pensions.
But did she say what you said she said? ;)
I think not. When it comes to abortion it's not black and white but I know that is a hobby horse of yours, so best leave it.
Probably something about how the evil West and EU did something 10 or 100 years ago and never said sorry, so this is her way of shining light on it, blah blah blah...
Why didn't they have this vote 8 years ago?
There was the story during the week about some MEPs being arrested for accepting bribes from Qatar (I think). It appeared to make those politicians vote in a manner which was against prevailing norms.
Anyway, back on topic, what was the above news about our favourite MEP voting against saying the Russians did a bad thing by engineering deaths of millions by starvation? Obviously her only motivation was her conscience and her access to data that the other MEPs didn't have
