Take metiplol and Crimea is essentially dead in the water to Russia especially if they can hit and badly damage the kirsch bridge again,they can't protect their ships and they certainly won't be flying much into Crimea either as air defenses and manpads will come to the fore alongside artillery,
It's gone from a few on here oh no they won't be allowed to go near Crimea because Nato and the US say no you can't hit Russia aka Crimea to now watching the Russians digging trenches on the beaches of Crimea.
Remember the claims on here how Kherson would take years.and well that prediction didn't age well for some, Crimea will be ripe for the picking once they get metiplol back

Very interesting. It'll be bloody difficult for them to take Melitopol though when the Russians definitely will expect it and it is easier to supply than Kherson was. Splitting the land bridge to Crimea would really wreck Putin's plans.

That was a very different kettle of fish though since it was on the west bank of a river that made it difficult to supply for the Russians. An attack towards Melitopol and the sea will be open to attack from both sides by the Russians.

The Russians were also using the river to their advantage. It meant they couldn't be surrounded and in melitopol they very well could be. No more than Azov had no way out of mariupol, the Russians might end up with no way out of melitopol.
I suggested in a post a number of weeks ago that this was the route I'd like them to take and it also gave them the benefit of reclaiming the ZNPP and the Dam removing two more threats that Russia could hang over them.
