The king is dead, long live the king.
Only 102 days to lights out for 2023..
So just watch the sprint on Sunday and you can be happy as Larry.
It's an entertainment business. Sprints have been pretty entertaining so far. Thus, they are a decent addition to the weekend. As long as the tracks are well chosen to suit the sprint format, I have no problem.
He started the sprint race on pole and started the main race from his sprint race position so there's no problem. He fell backwards pretty quickly so it made little difference to him.
The quali counts as qualifying on pole now. That was cleared up a year ago. The person who qualifies first starts the sprint on pole.
If Brazil was just a standard weekend, best K Mag would have got would be fastest in FP2, if he even bothered to run at that time. It would have been Russell or Verstappen for pole on a standard Saturday, probably Verstappen as Red Bull would have had the full practices to tweak the car and win number 15 of 16, as it was we got a new pole sitter and a new race winner, add that to the 24 place drive through the grid that Hamilton did the year before and there's an argument that the sprints are what's keeping Sao Paulo on the calendar.
So there is rumours that Hyundai might now enter Formula 1 for maybe 2026. I say it's about time too.
Hyundai are one of the biggest car manufacturers in the World now.
It would be great to see or hear.
I agree.
As a brand as well, they have really made strides in recent years as well. And they have hired Cyril who knows his way around F1.
Capito is gone from Williams. There's still something inherently wrong with seeing a statement from Williams being released by the chairperson of a private capital firm 😔

Did anyone manage to get tickets and happen to have spares for this raging I missed it

Was he pushed or did he walk? (I assume the former)
+1
Should we start a new thread for buying/selling spare tickets (@ face value) for this event?
That took me by surprise I have to say.
They're still rooted to the bottom of the table but I thought they were showing signs of improvement.
I saw today that Red Bull is coming to Dublin with David Coulthard driving the RB7 along the quays. Tickets are unavailable though as soon as I saw it
Capito seemed like a decent fella but since 2018 Williams have been a disaster and it's like they are there to make up the numbers saying that having Latifi as a driver didn't help. Hopefully they can get back up to midfield, they can't keep finishing 10th
Jeez, I wonder where he's going next? (ferrari, it'll be ferrari)
More on this, Ferrari move is confirmed and Seidl is going to be going to Sauber to replace Vasseur:
Ferrari have confirmed he's been appointed
Next news is apparently Seidl to Sauber
https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/mclaren-f1-boss-seidl-set-to-take-over-at-sauber/10410810/
Know nothing about Vasseur. Is he any use?
Yep seems like the tickets were unavailable before they even advertised it. Very annoying. Tried getting tickets year before for it elsewhere in Europe and couldnt get tickets either. So annoying as just want to bring my son to it!
Surprised at Seidl leaving McLaren already!
He did a very good job at McLaren. He will do the same at Sauber and Audi.
Agreed. That is 2 team bosses that did well and have left the team, maybe 3 if you include Binotto which I guess you could.
Silly season is usually driver focused!
Question is, who's coming in at Williams and McLaren. I'll be honest, I was expecting Allan McNish to head up the Audi F1 project.
I'd fear for the progress Williams have made without a good TP, they will need a steady hand to keep things going.
As for McLaren, that is the bigger loss in all of this. I am sure Zak Brown is on the phone to all of his contacts right now.
..
Well that was quick. 🏁
Least now they don't have to throw out any equipment marked "A.S."
He was Alonsos race engineer at Ferrari. Fair play to him rising up the ranks!
My assumption is that Jost Capito is also going to be announced for Sauber next to Seidl to split CEO / Team Principal duties. Vasseur was doing both but the team will be ramping up under Audi and will need more of a management structure in place.
Andrea Stella seems like a solid choice for McLaren, he's been at the team a good while and has a long successful history. Although you could argue his background looks a bit like Binotto's, hopefully he adapts to the new responsibilities better than his countryman did at Ferrari.
Speaking of Binotto, I wonder if we'll see him back on the grid anywhere. He'd be an asset in any team's technical department, but needs to be kept away from major strategic decisions. If I was Audi I'd be courting him to work on the engine side of things.
As for Williams, with the growing popularity of the sport in the US and an American driver lined up next year you'd think they might be in a position to get some good sponsorship and start rebuilding for the future, but they'll need a strong hand at the helm to get them there now.
I managed to get 2. Was scrolling FB and saw a post by Joe.ie or similar, this was at around 11:30 yesterday. Not sure where else it was advertised around that time, I got lucky.
Race engineers rising up the ranks to team principal, not had the best track record recently.
I misread Seidl's appointment at Sauber, it's not team principal, its CEO, same rank as Zac Brown, which means we're still looking for someone to fill Fred's seat on the pitwall.
Same here, looks like they disappeared really quickly.
I've read the car will be sitting on display there the day before for anyone to go take a look without any need for tickets. Also wondering if there's anywhere nearby that you might be able to see from. At the very least I'll make sure I'm in the area so I can hear it. It's an RB7 so it will sound vastly superior to any current F1 car, assuming they run it with an original spec engine.
Maybe this was a test the water thing to see if there was any demand for it here and now they see there is maybe they will put on more dates.
