In the days before players started lying down, free-kick takers used to have the option of going high or low. Now, if a player is lying behind the wall, it's impossible for a low free-kick to succeed. It's taking away an attacking option for the free-kick taker. Better for the spectacle imo if defending teams were told you can only have one wall or barrier to stop a free.
