Ouch, where was the pothole, if on council managed roads you may have a claim against the council if they repaired it previously in a substandard manner.
Road near me was dug up by the council and they botched filling it in, day or so later a deep pothole appeared, was puddles so I could not see it and went straight over/through it and wrecked a shock/alloy. Took photos and phoned council to tell them their fault, cheeky bastards filled it in (again) the next day but I had my photos. They tried to ignore me (saying engineer visited AFTER second attempt to fill in) and sent me a PFO letter so I sent them a "fine, don't worry about it so, I'll pass to my solicitors if I don't get all my costs covered in next 30 calendar days and I have my photos of botched repair #1" letter. Cheque received two weeks later.
I wasnt in the car at the time, so not sure where it happened, the car felt fine after (still does, except there is a slow puncture), when they were on the way back they tried to look out for it, but didnt see it.
taking it to someone on the way home to take a look at it. on the off chance it can be repaired, need two tyres too :(
Plenty of options anyway on ebay...
I'd love to pick up a spare 18" rim myself to match the ones on my car anyway just to have in teh shed as a spare... to minimise any downtime should the worst happen!
Maybe the 3 of us could order in bulk
For anyone interested I went with hankook kinergy 4s2 h750. Seems to be best price to performance from what I can see. A bit of a pain having to store my current tyres but better safe than sorry and I was going to have to get new tyres at some stage.
I had plans for refurbing the 19” wheels if I go for the MY in March but my mind has changed. I’ve begun searching for a set of 20” M3P wheels as I think they’ll suit the car.
Ace Autobody in Fairview,
But beware, an owner clocked them doing 190km/h on the M50 in their Model 3 when collecting their car from Sandyford a while back to do some work...
Went to Car Cosmetix, I got a quote from Ace and it was almost double what I ended up paying. Was very happy with the results like new. I had the midnight silver colour btw and he matched the paint perfectly.
Ace in Bray done my wheel refurb when I bought a CPO from them.
Yes, he wouldn't have known about it had he not installed some 3rd party route tracker app thing that syncs with a Raspberry Pi every time the car is in his driveway, as on the Tesla app, the car just showed as being in Service Mode for the entire time Tesla/Ace had it..
If that was the time they got caught, you'd have to wonder how many times it was going on before someone did eventually clock them...
I believe the outcome was Tesla gave Ace a right rollicking (probably reminding them too that all the Tesla cars can be tracked like an aeroplanes black box etc...).... so you'd hope they wouldn't be acting the bollix like that anymore tempting as it may be..
I don’t think so as when Tesla take your car in for service they activate Service Mode, which gives the app minimal info about the car and I’d imagine it would override any user settings like valet mode or speed limit etc…
You can’t put it in valet mode when Tesla have it in service mode.
Also a little tip. If you have the home screen widget on your phone, even when in service mode, the widget updates with its location ;)
Anyone any tips for when frost/ice gets into the door handles??? they were a little stiff this morning when getting into the car, they opened, but a stronger push/tug required that normal. have only ahd the car since september so no experience with them in cod weather.
There is a new feature on the App where you can open the drivers door without using the handle. Operates the same as using the interior opening button.
Nice view this morning of MSM, rear tints, blackened tail lights (AliEx) and Matt Black Logo covers (AliEx)
Sh1te sorry to hear that :(
Mine was just the panel above the rear wheel all scratched up, but was like new once done.
Opened a back door last night which had some ice on it, when closing door again noticed a bit of noise from window motor struggling to close the slight window drop again.
Forgot about it, but this morning heard wind noise from same window and noticed window was down a few mm and would not return to full closed position.
A simple calibration of window returned it to its normal up position. ie, cycle window all the way down, then all the way up again. May help someone with these frosty days..
Thanks for the tip. I totalled a flower pot pulling into a friends' driveway the other day. It was very low and I didnt see it pulling in. a couple of deeper scratches on the front bumper, especially on the underside and lip.
Here's another oddity from this morning. Car was at 85% (and still charging) when I was getting dressed for work. About 10 minutes later, I was in the car and the battery percent was at 97%. I am certain the APP said 85% and it couldn't have got another 12% in such a small timeframe. After ~70kms of driving, APP says 78%.
I’d guess some of the battery’s energy was ‘locked’ away, and was only released back after the battery had warmed up/pre-conditioned….
Sounds like it was at 95% this morning and you may have misread as 85%
It was 85% for sure. Estimated time to charge to 100% was 10.5 hours. Charge started at 11pm and stopped at 7am, so only had 8 hours.
Unrelated...got a link to the rear light tints you ordered?

Can anyone give me their real world range in summer and winter please?
I drive a return trip Dublin to Galway, Sligo and the odd time Letterkenny with work so do two 430km trips and one 500km trip.
Are either doable on a single charge and if not realistically how much charge would you need?
Thanks
Standard Range,
Long Range or
Performance?
Are you looking at new or second hand, if second hand which year?
My car said it was -12 this morning 🤣
As a follow on, here’s a post from a member with a new LR M3.
100% charge,
Ballinasloe, Athlone, dublin Airport, Ikea and a few errands in Athlone , then home Ballinasloe. 388km, of which 340 motorway @120km/h speed.
I didn't charge, as I was hoping to make it.
3% left.....
I have 221 RWD and back in October I left from the Supercharger at Castlebellingham northbound with 99%, went to Belfast, down to Bray and then pulled into the Supercharger at Sandyford with 4%. So ~320km, mostly on motorways took 95%. That's not taking into account parking in Belfast for about 4 hours and a ton of sentry events.
I do 10mins from Sligo town to Dublin (blanch area) or airport and back very regularly in my September bought M3 standard range on 19inch wheels. It's roughly 400 km return trip and I can't do it without a charge on the way home. I'd say I could push it with the extra buffer in the battery but wouldn't chance it in winter. About 80km of that at motorway speed. I usually travel via Cavan down the M3 but tend to prefer the M4 on the way home for quick Enfield super charge. I usually only need to stop for 10 mins or so.
Too many variables to be specific
