Suitable Therapy dogs? I don't think so.
Sorry for quoting my own post, but can't edit it to add up few more on the list.
So the latest additions are Great White Sharks and Orcas.
Neither set of animals were bred to kill or attack people and won't unless other people put them in that situation.
Nobody owns Great Whites and Orcas, only Mother nature. Animals that Mother nature created, not humans, so what's your problem?
Sorry Ms, but those distorted wolf animals were bred to kill and ultimately - attack, by humans. Look up the history of these animals, you will see that was the case.
At least with the Sharks and Orcas, Mother nature bred them, so I'll give her a pass.
So dogs were created by humans?
And I have no problem at all, just added few more animals to my original post. That's all.
Pit Bull type dogs kill more people than Great Whites and Orcas, Bears, Cattle and probably any other mammal I can think of, per head.
Yeah they were. The domesticated dog is a human manufactured bred distortion of the Wolf. You don't know this?
See this is the real problem. People own dogs and actually don't know what they really are. They think they are paint colours.
As I've already explained in this thread, Pitbulls were bred to fight bulls & then other dogs. They were however also bred not to bite people, a dog that was aggressive to its handler was no good because the handler couldn't separate it during a fight. A dog that turned on it's owner was destroyed.
Labradors were used to flush out & retrieve ducks but you don't see them hauling ducks out of ponds when out walking in local parks. Just because a dog was bred to do a particular thing doesn’t mean it will naturally do it if that trait is not enforced.
That gave me a good laugh.
Comparing a dog to sharks, orcas and bears....
If you breed something for nothing but abject violence at its heart, it doesn't matter what sort of humanistic control you try to throw on top of it. The ingrained violence is still going to be there, at its heart. Its going to be there, in its DNA, doesn't matter how you handle it.
My point is that there is no point to these breed of human manufactured animals, they served a purpose when people had no better idea and literally abused them, bred them, distorted them in order to create some tool of control. Those days are gone, there is literally no need for these breeds anymore, as what was set out in their function hundreds of years ago.
Definitely not the way you put it.
How do you mean, so you didn't know that? Do you own dogs?
True, Pit Bulls are more dangerous and the stats show this.
Almost every breed of dog on earth was bred for something, very few are still used for their original purpose or display a desire to do so, doesn't mean they can't & aren't good pets.
And just because you don't see a point to them doesn't mean everyone shares your opinion.
At the end of the day ridding the world of Pitbulls is only kicking the can down the road until the next abused & vilified breed comes along.
Some recent stats for ireland
There have been 123 calls to Waterford City and County Council about pitbull dogs since 2017 .
29 attacks were recorded, including 12 on people, 15 on other dogs and 2 on cats.
The figures come as Wexford County Council says attacks involving the breed are on the rise.
The Council there has seen 54 incidents involving the dogs since 2017, and fifteen so far this year.
According to a report in this mornings the Irish Independent, the majority of the incidents involved people being chased or attacked by pitbulls.

I'm not talking about pets. Sure you can have a Python as a pet if you want, but you wouldn't take the animal out on a walk down the local park. If the animal was ultimately bred and twisted through nothing but the use of violence and control then that is what you are ultimately left with. Fair enough, actual shepherds, people who needed to ward off bears, etc and other forms of medieval control may have needed that tool back in the day, but do you need it in this day and age? What do you need a Pitbull for?
Its not just an opinion but facts read the following to see the level of delusion among the pit bull fans.
"The site NextDoor which is sent to and used by every major city, town, county, be it rural, suburban or major metropolis and is based in San Fransisco, is used by many of my neighbors who are unaware that the folksy little site is not what it appears to be.
Nevertheless, I went to said site to post a warning about aggressive Pit Bulls which , killed another dog and went onto the deck of a senior citizen and growled at the man on the mans property. This I did before I contact the Sheriff enabling the Sheriff to have a paper trail and/or history of aggression by the dog.
Well that opened a barrage of comments like”It’s not the breed it’s the way it was raised”
How tiresome it is when dealing with adult toddlers.
A girl that I know got as a puppy what clearly is a pit bull mix and showed up to my house bragging about how her dog is now a ‘service dog’ obtained through a fake app on her cell phone.
She opened her car door and out came the now fully grown pit bull mix.
I said “Misty, get your dog off my property” as politely yet firmly as I could say it.
Misty called the dog several times and the dog completely ignored her, prompting Misty to go to the dog pick him up with great struggle as the dog now weighs almost her weight .
Service dog? I think not.
How a dog is raised? No
Photos of pit bull and/or mixes their sires or dams with a silly hat proves innocence of breed? B.S.
Often we see photos of pit bull and/or mixes with cutesy little hat after the same dog has mauled to death their owner."
So a dog is more dangerous than a great white, an orca or a bear.. do you realise how ridiculous that sounds?
A massive predator with a conveyor belt of razor sharp teeth, another, even bigger predator, that hunts the previously mentioned one, and a land predator with knives on the ends of it's paws. And a dog is supposed to be more dangerous..
If I had a choice of running towards a Pitbull or any of the above three, I'd be running towards the dog every single time.
In this day & age what do you need ANY breed of dog for? Yet different people have different preferences for different dog breeds and why they like them.
Why though? What makes your preferences so important? Why do you need your preferences? Give me one reasonable and logical argument why you need to own a Pitbull.
But sure my husband was out walking with my 2 kids (6 & 9 at the time) when 2 Collies tried to attack the kids. My husband had to get in between the dogs & the kids but so determined were the dogs to get to the kids they kept circling behind my husband & taking turns to lunge like wolves with deer trying to weed out the weakest prey. Had my husband not have been there I dread to think what the outcome would have been but I don't blame every Collie for what those 2 did.
It's not so much that I need to own one it's more what you think you’re going to achieve by eradicating them.
What would have happened if they were pit bulls? You and your husband wouldn't be able to stop them.
Pit Bull tyoe dogs kill more people on average each year! Is that dangerous enough? Hiw many killed or seriously injured does there have to be before you think they should be banned? Go on give us a number..
Same way I'd look at eradicating guns or nuclear weapons. These creations are outdated idiotic human created forms of control that belong to a uncivilised time when humans had no option but to make animals of themselves by weaponising innocent forms of nature. You, me or anybody else, have no need for any of it
There's a whole host of dog breeds we couldn't stop not just Pitbulls, you’re just stuck on that particular breed.
Ok so suppose you've got your wish and Pitbulls are no more, what have you achieved?
Guns can be useful.
