I have been told so many users have left because freedom of expression is stamped quickly. There seems to be some sorted of gang mentality on here that quickly gangs up on anyone that doesn't agree with their opinion. Disgraceful.
Boards has always been open and honest about the fact that there's no right to free speech here and never has been. If you don't like it, off you toddle.
Are you serious? So freedom of speech is dead on this forum. So a group think mentality and if anyone doesn't agree with it or voices another opinion bullied off here, WOW
The right to free speech is never absolute and limits may be placed on it for many reasons. Boards.ie, as an entity, is perfectly entitled to place limits of its own devising.
Everyone should be entitled to voice their opinion freely. Not bullied off because a group doesn't agree with what they are saying. This is crazy.
Always was thus and ever will be. You'll not find it much different elsewhere but feel absolutely free to find out.
No.
Depends on the opinion doesn’t it? I just can’t go around calling you a pedo.
Private companies can impose any restriction they want, don’t like go and create your own free speech paradise. You’ll soon see the quality of your clientele.
Even Elon Musk went woke.
You do have freedom of speech but no forum is obliged to provide you with a platform to exercise it.
A key point that proves the people who rant about freedom of speech don’t really know what it means, and they are usually attention seekers who think everyone has to listen to them .
He has a point though that people who go against group think are verbally stomped on, a bit like social media whack-a-mole. This is not unique to boards of course.
So you want free speech only if you agree with it...thats not free speech either.
They leave not because free speech. But some people are obnoxious and its that obnoxious behaviour thats not shut down.
What now ?
You mean that if someone doesn’t believe that the twin towers weren’t demolished or if vaccines aren’t Bill Gates plan for depopulation, that they are labeled sheep. Thanks
There is no group bullying people off. The owners of the site have had it in their rules for decades that there is no right to free speech on the site. Free speech does not give you the right to force a company to display what you want on their site.
Eh ? I'm talking about a "villagers with pitchforks" mentality, I genuinely have no idea how that ties in with twin towers or Bill Gates, and on reflection, don't really care either. I'm sure it made sense in your head.
It depends on the content.
There are also individuals who have no issue lambasting people as "sheep", "trolls", etc but then turn around and act the victim if others question their views.
At the end of the day it's a private platform, and free speech doesn't mean saying whatever we want without consequences. As Alex Jones is finding out (keeping it relevant)
I'll give a few examples I've noticed. If someone wishes to discuss immigration into Ireland they are meet with hostility. Same with the government or the EU, I've seen a bully mentality on this forum because I dare question Varadkar or the EU policies for example.
The fact that a group of posters disagrees with you doesn't constitute bullying. Plus, you had sufficient free speech to make your contribution to the discussion.
Being woke is nothing to be proud of. People are sick of it.
Wait, are you trying to deny people's freedom to speak their hostility at you? Doesn't seem very fair to me.
Surely if one wants the right to say racist things they must support others having the freedom to call them a racist, no?
Shape up, post what you want without fear or favour and don't worry too much about others reaction.
How is questioning immigration racist??? Are you serious?
And the race card is played out.
The only thread of yours I saw was the one you started on Ursula Von Der Leyen. You started off posting bollocks on a subject you don't seem to understand, got told by others you were posting bollocks on a subject you didn't understand and now you're complaining that you can't just post bollocks about things you don't understand. You got to say your piece, others got to say theirs. I'm not sure where the free speech issue is frankly.
People dress up all sorts of ugly views as "just questioning" something.
It depends on what you are trying to say and how you phrase it.
We are dealing with the written word here.
People will take you up on what you type.
You cannot have it all on your own terms.
They seem to mix up free speech with an echo chamber.
This is what a forum with free speech looks like https://boards.4chan.org/pol/2
Anonymity plus free speech without moderation quickly devolves into a cess pit
OP the answer to your question is there is no entitlement to free speech on this, a private, website
It is not a conspiracy. It is a fact
