Thread to discuss the football itself.
This is not a thread to discuss the hosting of the competition in Quatar.
You can discuss the hosting in the relevant thread.
True but giving going back relatively quicker then normal no one wants an injury
I’ve never understood why it’s a yellow card for taking your shirt off in celebration. Nonsense rule.
Bruno Fernandes should be in that team.
I don't really mind the rule, or maybe I'm just used to it at this point, but when you see a fella pick up a second for scoring a winning goal for his country in the world cup and at the same time in another game a striker throws himself to the ground in one of the worst dives you'll ever see and gets no card it is frustrating.
They are considering making it groups of 4 now.
Fantastic.
Think it was an advertising rule basically, but they may have used different wording
So many VAR questionable calls. did FIFA get around to showing that Japan goal was legit yet ????
If he was a few years older it would be a great way to end an international career.
Monsieur Rochet was indeed
Yeah, like Zidane but victimless...
There has been no images shown to say the ball was out of play.
Marco was many things but was no victim 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Wat there a picture shown it was in play

There was a photo released. Ball was in play by something like 1.8mm….so it was a legit goal.
Exactly,it was explained here
I had to laugh at Souness implying there is behind the scenes trickery going on.
But I do agree with Neville, that VAR decisions should have a real time live screens in grounds. To show how the decision was made for supporters and pundits.
Mike Dean explains it here.
Also Casemiro
That aint how the burden of proof works.
Good illustration but all the talk of a Brazil Argentina final was never going to happen unless one of them came 2nd in their group.
the path is marked early on which makes the original group draw and seedings crucial.
Listening to BBC Radio5 Live and its pointing towards a very tight game at 3 today.
No one in the Netherlands impressed with their team, while everyone in America is happy with theirs! 1-1 with 10 to go is the call.
For the second game, which is Lionel Messi's 1000th appearance, they are looking forward to him going up against Harry Souttar, who's been having a good tournament so far. Pablo Zabaleta reckoned an early goal here was key for Argentina.
I wouldn't be surprised by anything after the last 2 days - just hoping they don't go all "cagey" for fear of losing.
Where is the picture??/ Are you talking about this cartoon? What the hell is this, this is not the incident . This is ball placed on what looks like astro turf
It is the computerised image from the cameras which they use. Think Hawkeye in CP type of thing.
Is going to be the knockout thread as well? I fancy the yanks to do a job on the Dutch. But would need some luck not getting many goals.
Very difficult to predict winners of each game considering the way the group stages ended. Enjoyable World Cup so far.
Tough to call. I'll go 2-1 to the Dutch after extra time.
Wow Pulisic was onside , what a miss
That's a big miss, so far onside too
Nice finish from Depay.
