We don't really want Coombes covering Lock., we want Beirne in the back row, and Mcdonald or Edogbo in the 2nd row with Coombes playing 8 either as a starter or off the bench
Coombes is an absolutely key player for Munster
He's our Will Skelton. He can come on at 60 mins and be the winning of the game, or he can start and provide the size and power we need to give is the collision dominance we need for quick ball

That wouldn't be a bad idea for next weekend. Put out a back 5 of Kleyn, Edogbo, Beirne, POM and Coombes to counter Toulose's huge pack. Or start McDonald and keep Edogbo in reserve.

Awful start tonight but over the course of the game we really could have scored more, shame we didn't score directly from Nash's take of the restart after the internet try. Great speed from him to get to that ball. It almost deserved a score.
Edinburgh looked a different team in the second half when we started to tackle them and get in their faces.

Just back from the game, nice pockets of munster fans. Always good to send the grumpy Scots home with no excuses.
Frisch just looks quality on both sides of ball. I thought Nash had a great game made two back to back to back tackles on his wing early on that had a huge impact.
Also Blair Kinghorn might be one of the worst rugby players I've seen. Woeful.
Calvin Nash has really impressed me so far this season. Possesses some lovely footwork and speed like a Matsushima or Earls in his prime. Really put his hand up on the EI tour, when he wouldn't have been one of the names people were looking out for. He's definitely a starter now for me.
Interesting to see Crowley once again come on but not at 10. Thought Casey was excellent again.
Is Fekitoa injured or not being picked?
Scanell still seems like a weak spot to me. Frisch is pure class.
Are you based over there or did you make a trip out of it. Some match to be at, though the start mist have been frightening.
Once we scored our first one I felt we might claw our way back into the game and once we scored on the stroke of halftime it gave us some hope for the second half

I still think you're reading too much into this, TRC. An awful lot of it has been out of necessity. He's played 75 mins more at not-10 than 10. And of that:
And Carbery has played significantly better from 10 than from 15 this season.
I'm still entirely convinced Crowley will start more games at 10 this season than elsewhere.

Rory Scannell didn't get injured yesterday as far as I'm aware. Just thought it was interesting that they decided against giving Crowley minutes at 10 and brought him on at 12. A lot of Munster people thought Crowley would start this game. Carbery was a bit of a mixed bag for me. Some nice touches but some howlers too. Was good off the tee and took his try well. But he's clearly well ahead of Crowley in the coaches' mind.

Correct. Which makes it a lowly 23 minutes he has played outside of 10 this season that wasn’t injury related.

The intercept was the obvious black mark, but it’s completely fair to say he was instrumental in Munster scoring 31 unanswered points in the game.
Yep, he’s clearly ahead of Crowley. But I think we’ll also see over the season that Crowley is 2nd choice.
Based over here. It's been a while since munster played here, with the league format Edinburgh went away for the games for the last few seasons.
Well worth a visit for a game now, Mini Murrayfield is a much more suitable venue for games for Edinburgh.
I think the home fans knew the writing was on the wall with the try just before half time.
An excellent offload from Crosbie, Carbery's poor pass and some poor defending when Ritchie should have been stopped before scored really flattered them.
It was on our list along with Scarlets to travel to before Covid, we might get there in the next season or so
Patterson has a huge future. Whenever he is given an opportunity he just kills he. He is wicked fast. Probably the most dynamic scrum half in Ireland at the moment

Really like the look of him alright. Saw him play down in the Pairc vs. SA XV and he was class that night. Murray is going to have to do a lot to keep his place in the squad with Casey and Patterson both going well.
Hopefully leinster don't call PatPat home... he pkays the same style as JGP , just better...
Is he on loan? To be honest I cannot see him **** back to Leinster as he **** loves Munster.

He’s not on loan I think, he got a 2 year contract as far as I recall.
We’ve very good depth at 9 now with his performances of late.
Unfortunately when Marray is fit he will get his place as no 1 back again
I don’t think so. I think this is the season we’ll see Casey starting the big games.
I would say that Casey will be starter. He's finding his feet but, he's quality.
And it’s like the Ireland situation: Casey suits the new style much more.
As bad as the opening few games were, I’ve found it really fun supporting Munster this season. Sense that we’re going in the right direction.
