People giving out about a metal band of 60 year olds who havent taken a significant break in 20 years not working hard enough is peak internet forum craic.
Who said they weren't working hard enough? Just because they used to be a hard working band doesn't mean they should be now and I didn't suggest otherwise just because Wanderer78 saw something that clearly wasn't there doesn't mean you should too.
...i also see dead people.....
That album cover art is dirt.
They probably won't add an Irish date as there's no way in hell that they'll sell enough tickets for 2 nights....?
they d sell 2 nights at the 3 alright, but it wont happen
Probably not, but we live in hope!
ah we have to be realistic, we can live in hope all we want, id say we ll be lucky to see them there again
Got myself one this morning for Amsterdam 😀
The only place that could suit them if their set-up is "in the round " would be the Aviva, but it would need to be a pretty strong line-up for that to happen.
Got tickets to Helsinki this morning - honestly thought it would be harder to get.
Anyone else heard the rumours from a friend of a friend of a friend who works in the biz that they're getting Marley Park? Heard it a few times from different people now - all friends of friends etc.
same person told me they were building a new venue just for them, but i find that hard to believe....
...who knows....
jesus that song is catchy, cant get it out of my head now.....
I would say your friends of friends of friends are talking rubbish.
I will of course gladly accept being proven oh so wrong IF they wind up here next year.
The FAQ’s say they don’t plan on adding any more dates
as class as that would be
Haaaaaaaaaaa
Wonder is there a caveat that no more shows for that arrangement, but standalone shows may get announced later. Just completely split them out so that people can't complain they aren't getting one of the 2 nighter shows
I'd say at best, it'll be 2025 IF we're lucky, IF they do come back.
“There are no plans to add additional headlining shows to the schedule for the next two years; the band may make very limited appearances at special events.”
don’t think Dublin would fit that caveat somehow
Whiskey ...whiskey ...whiskey.....whiskey .....
Repeat until they play here ??
I think I'm okay without Whiskey...
I've been way out of the loop on this one, but I just listened to the new single now.
Plenty of energy and speed. Cool title. Well produced. Band looks very spry for their ages. A perfectly serviceable song to blast when you're doing the motorway speed limit (or perhaps even a little more than that).
The only criticism I would have, and this is more of a personal preference, is that Metallica haven't really altered their sound since Death Magnetic and seem content to do thrash metal with a modern sheen until they retire. I do kind of miss the days when each Metallica record would offer some kind of departure in sound (even RTL ruffled some feathers with its sensitive ballad tendencies). No longer do they seem concerned with evolving. Ultimately, if the band is happy in that kind of rut, I can't really complain, but it would be nice to see them hit people with something quite unexpected at least once more before they pack it in.
That's why I liked Lulu. Terrible record by most common metrics, but the sheer oddness of it makes it memorable for me. That said, the band was also able to challenge existing conventions in heavy music and preconceptions about itself while still sounding good, i.e. the black album and Load/ReLoad.
Couldnt disagree more with this, Thank fcuk the don't come out with something unexpected, we're getting an album what, every 4/5/6yrs now, imagine if this half decades release was crap like Lulu.
That's your preference. Kirk Hammett recently said that they wouldn't continue making records if they didn't think their best one was still ahead of them. My thing would be that this record will not come about by following a template. It would come about as all their other great records have - by taking some risks and incorporating some interesting things into their sound.
Actually talking about Kirk what ever happened to his solo album? I think there was one track from it released
Do you mean this?

Another new banger
Fairly similar to "Lux Æterna" imo
Utter dross. Lyrics are the most damming. Zero hooks.
Hetfield must have regressed as a lyricist more in his old age than any other metal songwriter, it's shockingly bad stuff, I kind of enjoyed the second half of the song, probably wont listen again
Absolute forgettable crap.
