Bloody hell.. have to feel for Uruguay here, undone by a horrendous combo of Ref and VAR.
Feel sorry for Uruguay. They can feel robbed over the penalties not awarded.
Uruguayan players acting like children. Var didnt support their penalty claim.
Delighted for South Korea!
Uruguayan players taking the loss in the typical, level-headed South American style.
Rumour is they won't now but 3 teams out of a group is just as sht.
Well that Ref will never be going to Uruguay
Serious bitta corruption there to deny Uruguay. Hope the Koreans are mauled by Brazil going through like that.
It's the luck of the draw in some ways. Portugal had nothing to play for in last game, to South Korea's benefit.
The Uruguayan players would be more accurate to aim their ire at their manager for only picking De Arrascaeta today
As much as I absolutely love shthousery it's hard to feel sorry for a team of shthousers when they lose.
I dunno bit of poetic justice to it 2010 Suarez and all that. Gas part is Suárez probably MOTM.
Shame Ghana didn't score at the end and dance in front of the Uruguay bench, would've been glorious
Seems ridiculous that the ref didn't use var for the Cavani foul. Why wouldn't he, what did he have to lose?
Can't agree with Doyle on that one... if you have to scissors around a player, taking him out of it in the process of finally getting a touch, it's a foul.
All the same, happy for Son.
You never know they said the same when it was increased to 32 but overall I say you are right
I was more hoping they'd try to take it down to the corner for a few minutes to waste time, just to wind them up
Missed the earlier shout, but the Cavani penalty shout would have been ludicrously soft
Asian teams certainly are getting the home continent calls the last few days.
Groups of 3 in a 48 team world cup God know that be awful
I think the Nunez one was far more of a pen than the Cavani one, think Cavani was looking for it a bit
Only place he is going is straight home after that. He won’t be getting another game after that performance. Happy for South Korea but Brazil v Uruguay would have been a much better game.
Great finish, pleased for the Koreans, Suárez crying his eyes out was lovely at the end haha. Looking forward to some Balkan drama in tonights match.
Ref doesn’t choose to look at var, they get instructed to. You’re improperly understanding the protocol
The Nunez one looked like a definite to me anyway, legs taken from under him. Cavani one he was playing for it normally clever at winning them. Ref wasn’t codded.
The Nunez one I still don’t get how it wasn’t a pen.
Ah come on you see that in nearly every match with a bad decision of course there going to feel aggrieved. Technically it was the Ref for the first decision
First one was a penalty all day long, scissored him out of it. Second one, Cavani just dropped his right foot behind his stride into the path of the Ghana player. He was looking for the peno.
Might be serous repercussions for the players that went for the ref at the end. Particularly the sub that grabbed his arm as he walked towards the tunnel.
Jesus there are a lot of hard ons from people here to stick it to a player
Loving the shocks like evryone else but am slightly concerned we're going to see a load of very one-sided games in the second round as a consequence...
Are you saying no other country would be angry like that after 2 bad calls that mean you go home from a world cup
Don't know why he got sent off and Ghana got a perfectly good chance to win it from the penalty spot
