Well this is escalating quite dramatically:
I was going to ask if any western companies had released games via cloud for the Switch, then remembered that's how Control and Hitman 3 were released.
But they've released this year's CoD, so assuming this deal starts from next year then would likely only have to publish on Switch for maybe 1 year.
Jaysus I hope not; those "Cloud" versions of games on Switch are just nasty, as far as I understand; not anywhere near on par with Google Stadia or the market leaders for cloud gaming.
EA have a generally poor history with Nintendo of late so the only way would be up IMO; I wonder if they have been given some hints about future hardware? Seems timely given the increasing clamour for new tech. and one wonders if private meetings gave hints about what a Switch 2 might have under its hood.
Wouldn't be surprised if Activision do what EA does with Fifa for the Switch, and release one pared down version of the game to start off with, and then a "Legacy Edition" of the game every year which is the exact same game but with any references to the year just updated.
Edit: Didn't see CastorTroy's post above 😁
Or since they're doing remakes with the likes of Modern Warfare 2 they'll just port the original to Switch.
I remember when Wii would get different versions of games than the PS3 and 360, such as Prince of Persia Forgotten Sands.
Probably the Mobile edition, or maybe a cloud version.
Call of Duty: Legacy Edition.

See, we keep our promise 🤣
Yeah, it's real. All part of MSs attempt to get the Activision purchase over the line. Been a huge PR blitz over the last couple of days as the FTC is set to meet about it.
It's actually a very well run campaign, they've got the unions on board supporting the deal, they've helped Bethesda staff vote on going unionised, and now they've committed to bringing COD to switch. All this news in the last 24 hours, all designed to bounce the regulator into approving the deal.
They also sent the same agreement to Valve, but Gabe seemingly didn't sign it, basically saying that the word of Phil Spencer was enough for him, and that MS had enough incentive to keep it on Steam regardless of any deal.
Is this the real Phil Spencer or a fake account?
COD on Switch going forward?
Surely this is pointless. it's just a tax on people who can't wait a couple of months for the price to drop.
I can't remember the last time I paid full price for a game. I even got MW2 for 60 one week after release.
Their games will be as expensive on PC now as well...
Does anyone buy first-party Xbox games? It just makes Game Pass look an even more enticing offer.
Microsoft Raising Prices on New, First-Party Games Built for Xbox Series X|S to $70 in 2023
Xbox is preparing to join other major games publishers in raising the prices of its major new first-party titles from $60 to $70.
Beginning in 2023, games built for Xbox Series X|S including Forza Motorsport, Redfall, and Starfield will cost $69.99 USD at launch. While Xbox has noted that regional pricing may differ, it has not yet given specifics for other countries.
"This price reflects the content, scale, and technical complexity of these titles," a Microsoft spokesperson told IGN. "As with all games developed by our teams at Xbox, they will also be available with Game Pass the same day they launch."
Incredible story about how 2K and Firaxis granted a dying man's wish of playing Midnight Suns. Once they heard about Luke, they rushed a playable build of act 1 in 24 hours, hand delivered it to him, played with him while devs jumped on a video call from shrugs, put him in the credits as game design consultant and put his name on a tree in the HQ hub area.
New game from Soma dev's Frictional games:
Excited about this as Soma was an incredible piece of horror sci-fi.
Come on Valve. Do it FFS.
That is one of those titles that I have heard plenty but don't know anything about, if it scratches the Body Harvest itch them I am very interested. Be nice if Rockstar had at least one studio dedicated to working on their back catalogue.
Try Earth Defense Force. It's really one of the most underappreciated series out there. It looks cheap and tacky, because it is I guess, but it belies the fact that after the introduction stages it actually becomes quite tactical. There's also no other series that replicates the mayhem and wanton destruction. And to top it off it's an absolute blast in Co-op.
Just make sure to play the Sandlot developed games, the western ones and that voxel based spin-off aren't great.
I just want a new version of Body Harvest, I don't care if it is in a Starship Troopers skin.
One of those IPs whose tone has kinda got a little drowned out by the exact kind of straight-faced warmongering the film was trying to satirically attack in the first place. At least from the small dip into the spin offs I've seen.
A proper videogame adaptation wouldn't be an empowering FPS game but something more subversive, no? Otherwise you're just playing as space Nazis 😂
After Aliens Fireteam, Predator Hunting Grounds and now this, I am getting sick of seeing exciting game announcements immediately ruined by 4-player coop.

I bought it way back in early early access. Played so much of the sand box that by the time the story came it almost took away from the experience that you had to go somewhere.
But now I have it in the steam deck I must give it another bash.
So often these days I see news about a new game for a franchise I like and am happy until I read on and be disappointed when I see it's multiplayer only. Starship Troopers above, Evil Dead and Ghostbusters to name a few.
In other news another trailer for the Mario movie will be posted tomorrow at 10pm
Starship Troopers: Extermination is a new FPS coming to PC from the makers of Squad. It'll be a co-op affair with you playing as one of 12 soldiers broken up into groups of 4. Squad was decent so will keep an eye on this.
