Total Fantasy. Good Grief.
That's not correct. Those loans were used to 'buy' his shares in Anglo in a futile attempt to stave off a complete collapse of the share price. Ultimately the shares were worthless and just left the debt he built up when he originally bought them. The debt was always his though.
I Think you spelt C##t wrong.
If the state only recuperated 400mill from Sean Quinn...then would we all not have been in a better place if they let him on with the business under the provision he paid back the money over a certain amount of time? Genuine question..even if they only got a billion more back? The business seems to be doing as well but Mannok sure as hell don't have to pay a cent of it. Or am I missing the point? I do understand what he did was atrocious...but in terms of getting the money back would leaving the business running as it was not have been the best option?
For the last number of years it’s about what he didn’t say rather than what he did say, that is most telling.
As for his wife, the stupid ranting about a priest who never once mentioned Quinn by name- Let the hate eat her from the inside out in her gaudy MacMansion.
Sorry now but I laughed at his tears at the end- the ego is still massive but his sense of personal responsibility is negligible in my view.
Ive never met Kevin Lunney but he strikes me from what we have seen in this documentary as an honourable and decent guy with integrity. I hope he recovers from the horrific experience inflicted on him.
Imagine smashing someones shins with a baseball bat.
It was telling when all of the quinn employees downed tools in support of him that day at 3pm. They had enough at that stage and were making it clear to the Quinns that there was no way back. Quinn has alienated most people it would seem.
So you are saying that no matter how many crimes you commit, you should be allowed to profit from your misdeeds as long as the State gets its money?
Are you Russian?
This was discussed in episode 1 and he was looking for 600m to get him back on the rails despite already owing billions. It would be a ridiculous state of affairs to have let him carry on - regardless if the State would have recovered more. The State would definitely have recovered more if he just left quietly - should the State give in to blackmail from such a person? Rhetorical question.
Moral hazard. There can be no capitalism and functioning markets without dysfunctional firms being allowed to fail.*
*I'm concious that this doctrine wasn't followed with the banking system in Ireland following the crash - but a functioning banking system is systemically critical, a bloated and faltering business empire to the benefit of one family isn't.
Anyway another interesting thing I thought was that this documentary was announced 3 days ago and was a change from the published schedules.
Tried to see if it was announced before that and it was announced 3 years ago and again last year as part of the autumn schedule and obviously not shown either of those times, but it seems to have been rushed onto the TV this week. Wonder is there any reason for that
Would it be related to his gaf being raided in April perhaps? Did someone get wind of something about to happen. They might now had been able to release it with a pending cpurt case perhaps. Just speculation.
No. But the state should have taken his house m too.

They were "encouraged" to by the present Management. Things aren't always as they seem.
Id doubt that. Absolutely no way they could have been pressured to do that. Management wouldnt have gone there. That was employee organised late.
If it was meant to elicit sympathy, the wife shouldn't have been let on camera. What a weapon.
As if you haven't guessed I'm from here and that did happen.
Yep, in that 30 seconds she came across as a right old hag.
Well it was certainly an eye opener to a possible major driving force for sure.
Is there more evidence to come from the phones etc of Dublin Jimmy recovered at his place?
Did they use the same kind of encouragement that was used with Kevin Lunney?
If McGuiness hadn't dropped dead when the cops came through the front door, this would have been an entirely different story
Wow- even with those guys now behind bars, the threat level is still rated as high against the 5 directors- at least it was 1 year ago and I’d doubt much has changed in that time unfortunately
Ok yeah get the point about the state not being held to ransom..I also missed the part where he asked for a loan to get back up and running.
And no I'm not Russian...but there are plenty of other companies who have taken the state and government for fools over the years.
It might still have more twists.
AGS didnt raid his home to have tea with the wife anyway.
His reaction when asked about Dublin Jimmy was the most telling part of the whole three episodes.
I have no idea why he agreed to take part in the documentary. He was out of sight and out of mind.
Must have missed the spotlight.
Towards the end of the documentary tonight, Quinn couldn't hide his hatred towards Kevin Lunney. He was asked his opinion on the attack of Lunney and instead of condemning it he just waffled on about how Lunney pretty much deserved it.
He couldn't even look at the camera - kept his head down for that conversation. His body language said it all for me!
Sean Quinn will regret ever doing this documentary.
As for the wife - no wonder they kept her off the documtary for the most part and roped in the sister instead. Mrs Quinn let herself down badly in the bit she did appear in. A very bitter woman.
Agree totally with what you are saying and I think that the attack on Kevin Lunney will always be first and foremost in people’s minds when Quinn is mentioned, he may not be the pay master but somebody in his camp is behind all of this, I would say they had some session when Dublin Jimmy **** the load in the UK. The wife serious weapon.
The documentary was made a good while ago though when he was still in the spotlight. I doubt he would agree to it in 2022. Id say the kids are keeping their distance at this stage. 15000 square feet is a lonely house.
Yeah the house looked empty and cold. Void of love and life. Quinn and the wife seem the type to be spending their days ranting and raving at the walls.
They must be counting the pennies keeping the lights off.
