Let's keep on topic. Has anyone else watched every single youtube video on the model Y? It can only be a crushing disappointment after the breathless praise of new owners. Only Jonny Smith in the Late Brake Show gave a review I'd trust 100%. I love the blobfish reference.
In California at the moment and the Y is everywhere you look.
Yeah was there in the summer and it's like every second car on the road was a Y. At least 2 if not 3 times as many as the model 3.
Seriously something wrong in my case. I'm getting message adviser will contact you. I used your link.
For benefits of other, it is sorted now. My eircode was not recognised being a new build. Moment I changed eircode it showed page with a date.
Apologies for multiple posts. Thanks for your support.
I visited the Tesla Centre and asked about PCP on the Model Y.
They said the maximum deposit they will take is 12.8k on it (Blue RWD).
I forgot to ask them what happens if I trade in and they agree to a way higher trade in value than 12.8k?
Will I get cash and they still only take 12.8k as the deposit?
Arrange your own finance with finance ireland.
you can deposit what you want as maximum, its 13 k minimum
Whats the % PCP rate with Finance Ireland ?
5.9
Beware of all the UK and Irish reviews - they are all done on the early Chinese Model Y with the harsh suspension. Pretty much every journo marked that as the worst aspect of the car. Our cars will have the much improved "comfort suspension"
Agree with you on Jonny Smith in general though. If I was going to buy an EV and I could only watch one review before making my mind up, I would watch his one.
Good stuff, when I logged in to check it earlier they called me within the hour to see if I needed any help arranging a test drive 😂
That is the current rate. I understand this is very likely to rise in January.
Ouch, not exactly attractive. ID.4 is 3.9% with VWFS
VAG always had good rates. They have such good access to lending institutions.
I don’t understand PCP/HP/Loans etc so way out of my comfort zones but the low VW Rate from “VW Bank” was always something I was aware of.
TheY done the eGolf at 0% for a brief period IIRC.
Tesla HP with AIB Finance is showing 4.9% on the Tesla website.
Very unscientific drag race between RWD and AWD for late night entertainment. I think the AWD can do better.
Here's another one from today, seemingly between MiC SR & MiG LR. Here the LR seems slightly faster.
That looks much more like reality. So is that acceleration, the c.60km of additional range and better grip worth an extra €14k?
No brainer for me, however if I was buying one in Germany (where difference is only €3k) I'd certainly go for LR! Now if the SR Y came with partial premium interior that'd likely have me looking at another brand.
That's correct re VW bank. However, I suspect they inflate the price of new cars a little to help fund this rate.
Aren't the best rates normally only available on the top trim levels as well.
The PCP requirements are 10-30% deposit. There's no point talking to tesla about finance, you need to talk to the finance company. Finance Ireland in this instance.
If you trade in and there's more there than 30% deposit you either have to get HP instead of PCP, or they will give you a cheque back for the difference
Thank you.
Ah, it makes sense now.
The price before grant is 59264 EUR, 30% of that is 17779.2 EUR and they did say the grant comes off this maxumim deposit figure. That's why it's approx 12.8k max.
Thanks for your input on the "check back" topic too, makes sense.
Does the Model Y RWD have to be plugged into the charger in order to use the cabin/seat/steering wheel preheating feature?
I don't need a scheduled feature, but I need at least a manually activated one via the app every morning - without having to plug in the car every evening. (I only plug in the e-Niro maybe twice a week, but preheat via the app every morning)
No, can be done whether plugged in or not.
…once battery SoC above 20%
Ah, so if I have at least 20% charge, I can start cabin pre-heating manually via the app even if the car isn't plugged in. Nice, that's what I'm used to. Thanks.
VW the same. 30% max deposit for the ID4 on PCP.
Yes, not as power hungry as my previous VW either.
(Mine is a Model 3)
He did an excellent review of a Cupra Born recently and is very good in general.
I'd find it hard to look past Bjorn Neyland though if you can get along with his way of presenting.
It's entirely subjective though and i know if my Sister or Sister in law wanted a particular new EV.
I'd send them a link to Jonny Smith video on the specific EV.
While sprinting to Bjorn for any potential issues other reviewers don't pick up.
Like Coldgate or rapidgate issues
Did a test drive of Model Y. Enquired if 2023 model will come with Comfy suspension.
I was informed, not really as China factory never had a hard suspension. It was Berlin factory which introduced new suspension. No changes to cars coming to Ireland from China.
