Plenty of nations in Africa too. Though the reasons Apple are moving towards India are cheaper labour costs, an educated labour force and government sweeteners. South Africa had wooed them too, but labour is actually more expensive there. Somewhere like Malaysia would be too pricey.
Have you seen 100,000 Ukrainian funerals .
Because nobody on here has ,
Your 100% right they did have to stop it. They just wanted more people who already had military experience. I suppose if it gets really bad then people who already volunteered and were told we did not need you might be reconsidered. It will be interesting come the spring to see what way both armies are like then and what punishment both have taken over the winter months. If Ukraine can deliver about 2 killer blows come the spring time that is when Russia might fold but if they can't i can see this war dragging on into 2024 sadly.
We've seen much more than 9000 graves in war cemeteries, thats for sure
Ukraine has largely refrained from giving casualty figures. But in August, the armed forces' commander-in-chief, Valeriy Zaluzhniy, was quoted in Ukrainian media saying 9,000 Ukrainian soldiers had died so far.
The problem with Africa is political stability - you don't want a lovely modern tech manufacturing plant attacked by rebels, pirates or adventurers. Even the more stable countries like Egypt have been rocked relatively recently. Morocco or Senegal maybe.
That is certtainly the case, however in the last week, I have seen that official recruiting efforts have started.
Sometimes you are better off not mentioning numbers and causualties in war
She have just given the Russian propaganda machine another excuse to keep fighting
You would have expected a bit more professionalism from the head of the EU.
Talk about throwing petrol on the fire
Has Von der Leyen issued a retraction or explainer of the erroneous figure? Or is this just speculation?
Agreed. Cheap labour - but wait till you see the security costs
A factory in south africa would need its own armed police to secure
That's true. Others quote a US military official at some economic forum stating Ukraine probably lost the same as Russia (100k) as gospel. Sounds more like an off the cuff remark to get across the sheer loss of lives.
Same people now will use von der Leyen's comments as confirmation.
No its not speculations, because the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces is unable to announce the losses of the Ukrainian army in the full-scale war against Russia.
Moreover, after the news of this assessment was spread, the reference to the fact that Ukraine lost 100,000 soldiers in the war with Russia was removed from von der Leyen's public address.
Even later, Dana Spinant, Deputy Director-General of the European Commission, reported that the data on Ukraine's losses during the war that was announced by the head of the European Commission included wounded and dead.
This is correct, they cancelled a planned winter mobilisation due to already having more than enough troops and reserves already in place or being trained
No one is disputing that,
Nobody is claiming 100,000 soldiers dead though.
And we have seen some fantastic claims made in this thread
Do you accept Dana Spinants claim that its over 100k dead + wounded for Ukraine?
With all the destruction of power plants Russia seems to be deploying its oldest and most successful general.
General Winter.
No
Why do you not agree? Do you think the EU commission is lying?
I think they made a mistake and didn't fact check with the outside sources estimations
Dana spinants said it herself
On the Russian side, the elephant in the room is the fact that Russians consider Tuvans, Buryats and Chechens as inferior to 'real' Russians (whatever that means) and uses them as cannon fodder.
She said the figure used (100k) should have referred to dead + wounded.
She never disputed the figure
This really sums up Russian 'liberation'
If this is true, it has already started-
A bit like a Russian tank commander... I'm on fire today!!! 🤣
Putin sending letterbombs to Ukraines embassies now
Perhaps you'd like to reference the source they used for the figures, because it seems very unlikely they were from Ukraine.
As I said earlier, I think they very lazily just repeated what Gen Mark Milley said, when he said 'probably' Ukraine has had 100,000 casualties. He doesn't have the figures either.
Those Orcs and their smoking habit, they really should stop, but only after they are pusshed from Ukraine completely.
It is known about 2 victims. The fire is large-scale, 79 people and 23 units of equipment are working, local authorities claim that there is a risk of spreading the fire to other houses. TPP in Perm.
Do you not think the leader of the EU would be privy to such information?
No I don't, as I said, only Ukrainian officials really know the true figures and they consider the information classified, so everyone else commenting on Ukrainian cassualties is estimating or guessing and should state that to be the case when they are reporting on them.
However some Ukrainian officials have actually stated loss ratios, which I have linked to, and those suggest that Ukrainian losses would be significantly less than the figures Ukraine regularly give for Orcs.
The important part is the numbers aren't factual they are 3rd/4th party Guesstimations .
I really hope that slightly injured means they haven't lost any fingers or eyes.
An update via Telegram:
📦It is noted that despite the initial media reports that the "letter" exploded, in fact, the package size was much larger than the letter with the documents. This postal item, addressed personally to the Ambassador of Ukraine to Spain Sergei Pogoreltsev, aroused suspicions among the secretary of the ambassador, because the package did not have a return address and did not look like the mail of diplomats.
The secretary handed over the "mail" to the commandant, an employee who is also responsible for guarding the embassy.
💭There was a box in the package, so the commandant had suspicions and he himself – so that no one was nearby – went out with this "mail" to the yard before opening it. And as soon as I opened it, I heard that something clicked there, instantly threw it away, and even then I heard an explosion," Pogoreltsev said.
The explosion damaged his hands, and the man also received a contusion.
