Seeing as Elton has now rescheduled his Dublin gigs, might be useful to start a 2023 thread as others might start popping up.
The Commitments - 7th - 19th February (Olympia Theatre)
Elton John - 28th/29th March (3Arena)
Madonna's 80s stuff was great, ray of light was a belter, even Music had some solid tracks, if she dropped the accent and signed an affidavit swearing not to sing American pie I'd definitely go to a greatest hits show.
And never try to rap again. If say three arena would suit her the best, I'd shudder at the possible ticket price though.
Same here. I'd be all over this gig if it goes ahead.
Anything from her 80s or 90s catalogue i'd be happy with.
Hi there
Does anyone have a link for Dermot Kennedy pre-sale in Thomond Park
Thanks
Has Madonnas knee improved ?
Her last tour was a disaster, she cancelled alot of concerts last minute due to knee problems.
Arctic monkeys now moved back to marlay park
Bizarre.
Im sure MCD will inform everyone who bought tickets initially that they are entitled to a refund if they wish due to the change of venue.
That's very odd they'd move to and from marlay
Waxahatchee playing 2 gigs in Dublin and 1 in Belfast in April https://twitter.com/Select1veMemory/status/1597934788010442753?t=AGqGF7d4Y7RVMlLX3aLoSw&s=19
Can only imagine something else was lined up that fell through, now marley is free so put them back and maybe get something else in malahide.
I will be asking for a refund on my 2 gold circle artic monkeys tickets . If someone wants them send me a message
Don't think this was posted here yet.
Pity they don't do day tickets cause I'd love to see Iggy Pop
Delighted the festival is growing
Yeah think it's a pity they don't but maybe limited by capacity.
Whose that?
Is she touring anywhere in 2023? I could see her do 2 or 3 nights at 3Arena
Van the Tan I think.
Its still largely speculative.
The Weeknd is playing Marlay Park, so go there, or you won’t see him.
Croke Park/Aviva, its unconfirmed, so far, but anticipated acts include: Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Coldplay. Its highly likely, some of these, will be announced in the coming days and weeks, but its a bit of a guessing game.
Isn't The Weeknds tour about the stage show ?. If it is why are we getting half changed having it in a field and possibly missing out on elements of the show ?
It's not just that tour plenty of other 'stadium tours' here are put in open fields
There will be a stage and a walkway at marlay. So not sure what you think will be missing with it being in a field.
open fields are used here due to non commercial viability of using the Aviva/Croker etc for “stadium acts”.
the weeknd couldn’t sell 60,000 tickets to sell out the aviva.
Isn't Marley like 50,000? I could see The Weeknd quite easily selling that out
Nah marlay is 30,000 for standalone concerts and 40,000 a day for longitude
Explain the difference between a stadium show and an outdoor show except seats?
Would Sheeran have been a different show if it was in the phoenix park....
Supposedly there’s announcement due soon as Warner bros are reissuing all albums again in 2023 as 40 years since first single so if she embraces her back catalogue could be a real winner . I jsit hope she doesn’t pick somewhere too big for her boots , ie another stadium / park. I’ve been a a fan since the beginning and even I know she doesn’t have the pull for that demand anymore . 3 arena would be class , her Drowned World tour and Confessions tour were amazing , saw them both in uk but if setlist is Hits heavy this could be something special .
I think Taylor Swifts European tour could be in 2024 as she is in the US until mid August.
Would be early September by the time she could get over here and there would be very limited stadia availability.
Because MCD are cheapskates.
Thats why.
The artist decides on the production/set up they bring.
Yeah no seats for ticket holders
Accessibly wise a little more complicated, most stadiums walking distance from city centres etc. Some Irish outdoor venues lucky enough near the city centres (Trinity,RHK, Iveagh Gardens)
Backstage etc not as fancy (means SFA for the general spectator mine you)
Production wise Ed Sheeran show maybe little/no difference but from a spectators point may of been worse views in Boucher Field than in Croker/PUC etc. Upper Hogan stand would possibly have a view of the whole circle stage while if you're unlucky in a field you're might not see much of the action on the other side
I was just curious about why Irish promoters mostly choose 'open fields' over Stadiums
Irekand is a small country, the weeknd or other equivalent acts can easily do 60k stadiums in uk and mainland europe but when it comes to ireland the audience isn’t there and you have to settle for open fields
