First they will need to get the BE-4 working reliably. And chamber pressure is a lot lower so it will be less efficient.
https://forum.nasaspaceflight.com/index.php?topic=39674.1800 - some will be sent to ULA for integration test to make sure they fit , while others will still be on the test stands
The BE-4 has a lot more weight hanging off it. And it's 4 times the price. Which still makes it insanely cheaper than the simplified non-reusable version ye olde RS-25 Shuttle engine
Probably pushing it a bit to expect Jeff to get any love on a SpaceX thread.
How about some sympathy for B.O. engineers as they do a frame by frame analysis of Tim's latest YT ?
....Go Tobann
4:20 pm, blaze it
Was just checking to see has the first webb image been released yet. Dudnt expect to see this.....
Apparently this was planned?
well, the TESTING was planned. maybe not so much the results...
Yea doesn't look like the test was nominal anyway...
Hopefully this wont be too much of a set back what ever happened.
Yeaaa NSF doesn't seem so confident from looking at it closer and damage to Hydraulics etc. Hope it's nothing to severe but can't see how it won't set back the 'planned' static fire we'd hoped for.
Webb and this in one night.
oh and more stuff is on fire..
edit 2
Just watching Tim Dodd's video on Rap1 vs Rap 2, Elon and Tim point out the lack of a ignitor and the very complicated start up sequence - perhaps this was the cause of the B7 explosion at the OLM?
Starship static fire in maybe 5 - 10 mins? booster had a single engine static fire test earlier
Ship and Booster SF's, was great to see them again after so many months. A few more maybe all six SF's on Ship, same for booster (but build up to 20), then add back in the missing raptors after the fire and repeat. Add in delays - maybe October at the earliest for a launch, December I would imagine.
can't believe they were first static fires of this year.
Looked great though. Hopefully momentum picks up again now.
Better get a move on, only 3 years left until 2026 🙂

One thing Starlink V2 will enable. V2 needs Starship for launch. Better get a move on with Starship 🙂
So Mary (BocaChicGal) had the over pressure notice last week, resulted in a spin prime or aborted static fire, another notice for last night, nothing, and another notice for today - clearly they want to try some kind of a SF with the 33 engines (inner or outer at first or fractions thereof).
To me it looks like the OLM is more complicated than anyone imaged (on the outside looking in). Anyways hoping we get some SF tonight and get to progress.
7 Raptors! They are slowly working their way up to the full 33...
interesting!
Wonder if its going to be 24/7 or 24/8? I used to think October for the first orbital test, now thinking December.
Crew 5 mission will launch to the space station in 27 minutes.
crew dragon docked with the ISS at 22:01 off the west coast of Africa.
stacking Ship 24 on booster 7 on the OLM right bout now. (could be final stack before launch)
Static fire imminent

and 14 engines! was impressive, dam dust thou :(
All this fecking twitter chaos distracting from the Starbase activity!
Wish he'd stick to the Space stuff.
That being said...the dream is to see the view of the 33 engines from the sky. It will be spectacular if it doesn't leave a small crater at Boca Chica!!!
overpressure notice issued for tomorrow (today).
Static fires used to happen towards the end of the 2pm to 2am (our time) window, but the last one was about 6:45pm
Could be spin prime too and Static fire tomorrow or later in week! But hopefully flamey flames.
very foggy out there today, some venting visible though. if they're going for a 20 second test fire could be another hour of loading fuel before any real action.

Oh the launch will be spectacular..
So Tim from Everyday astronaut is 'going' to the moon.
I still have a very hard time seeing this Dear Moon flight happening within 10 years, I guess fair play to Tim. Seen a tweet from Eric Berger that from his talks with people inside Boca Chica, Q1 '23 is looking hopeful for the orbital attempt. Naturally the ultra fast tempo days of hops and fires are dying. I think from here on out you will see the pace at Boca Chica slow a lot compared to what we have enjoyed so far. I guess what I am trying to say is that I don't see starship carrying people from earth to anywhere anytime soon, perhaps proven rocket up dock with a starship and around the moon and back home, but I just don't see Starship doing it 100% anytime soon.
I didn't include the Berger tweet above, as Boards loads embedded tweets so slow it constantly causes the page to jump is just plain annoying to try and read this thread.
But Musk said we'd be on Mars by 2026 🙂
If he misses that target I'll refuse to buy any of his cars.
