Thoughts from CSIS on the upcoming proposed G7 price cap on Russian oil. They think it will have little immediate impact on Russia's oil revenue if its set at $65 a barrel.
Australia gave Ukraine six of these useful tools, which as an Australian, is gratifying, but recently the Ukrainians desperately asked for coal for power stations and electrical system components to help repair their grid, and so far there has been no answer, which annoys me. Australia can well afford it. I hope they are working on it behind the scenes. Prying coal out of the hands of the mining companies is probably difficult at the moment as world supply is tight due to massive demand. Oz did send 79,000 tonnes of the stuff earlier in the year which arrived in August.
Ursula Von Der Leyen this morning released a video statement condemning Russia and calling on the international community to back criminal trials against russia, hold them accountable etc.
One surprising detail was she admitted that 20k civilians, and over 100,000 Ukrainian "officers" had been killed by Russia.
Edit: They have now deleted the tweet, edited the statement, and the video clearly cuts at 0:12 whereas before it was one continuous statement. Somebody is in trouble for that statement.
Google cached search results still show the original contents:
I don't know why people are responding to him. He paints these moral lines on the ground with unicorn farts and then baits people to step over them. He's another one of the front pagers and taking the bait seems pointless.
Russian warplanes flying over the countryside of Idlib and Aleppo
At the meeting held in Qamishli, Russia asked the YPG to withdraw all its military presence from the Turkish border to the M4 road (and leave the entire region to the government). Otherwise, Russia warned the YPG that Turkey's military operation was inevitable. YPG has rejected it
This number doesn't seem right. I wonder did she mean that Ukraine have suffered 100k casualties (killed, wounded, missing, captured) which would be a credible number.
So... Russian top brass thought Ukraine had an underground lair where they launched their aircraft to attack Russian targets.
Someone is watching too many James Bond films methinks!!! or maybe Thunderbirds.
and more to say, friendly fire incidents among the Russian troops are very much higher than previously known.
Putins current strategy is to go all in and try and get a cease-fire. I can't see anyone falling into that trap.
She deleted that statement-
Oh Dear someone didn't fact check or something clearly got lost in translation
or perhaps its the real figure but they weren't supposed to release it?
Trillions? Again, you've no idea what you're talking about. I suspect your unreasonable outrage toward the Ukrainians is directly proportional to your sympathy for Vlad and his gang for their crusade against the 'woke' and liberals. No prizes for guessing where your sympathies lie.
...
They can put all costs incurred in this war started by Russia on the reparations tab. They could afford to start the war, they can afford to pay for it.
100k dead couldn't be possible. It would mean there are another 300k wounded/missing/captured. That is most of the Ukrainian army. The war would already be over if this number was true.
Well, they may as well fly them there. They sure as fuk can't fly them over Ukraine without becoming fire work displays.
Which you would wonder that's why the release statement was deleted. I suppose you will only know if Ukrainian military is in complete dire straights is if they stop sending military personnel to be trained in other countries like the 10k they are doing and have them all brought back into the country to fight the Russians and none are been trained abroad as there all needed on the front lines. If that doesn't happen then Ukraine are managing as they can release these away from Ukraine for a period of time.
The statement didn't make sense for starters as Ukraine doesn't have 100,000 officers. That might be semantics, but her claim is false in one aspect for sure at least.
Speaking of circumvention of sanctions, those wretched Indians are at it again:
NEW DELHI, Nov 29 (Reuters) - Moscow has sent India a list of more than 500 products for potential delivery including parts for cars, aircraft and trains, four sources familiar with the matter said, as sanctions squeeze Russia's ability to keep vital industries running... Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government has not joined Western countries in openly criticising Moscow for the war in Ukraine, and has sharply increased purchases of Russian oil that have cushioned it from some of the impact of sanctions... The list of items from Russia, which runs to nearly 14 pages, includes car engine parts like pistons, oil pumps and ignition coils. There is also demand for bumpers, seatbelts and infotainment systems.
For aircraft and helicopters, Russia requested 41 items including landing gear components, fuel systems, communication systems and fire extinguishing systems, life jackets and aviation tyres.
Perhaps Biden should have a whisper in Tim Cooks ear about the US government sanctioning all goods made in India, just as Apple look likely to transfer a good bit more of their iPhone manufacturing to India, and then Tim can have a whisper in Modi's tone deaf ear about consequenses.
It all must be acutely embarrasing for Kamala Harris. Perhaps she should loudly rebuke that smug and smarmy Modi. It's increasingly looking inappropriate for India to be in the Quad grouping and Australia should say something to that effect.
The officers part sounds like something lost in translation - probably meant all enlisted soldiers.
Even using the post-soviet definition of an officer being anyone who graduated from a military school/academy, 100k is still a lot.
Sure we had posters on here going on before about how the 3:1 ratio of wounded to dead was unrealistic in this conflict. With Ukrainian soldiers getting hospital treatment in mainland Europe their own healthcare system is certainly under pressure.
As if Apple have any morals - they are firmly on the side of profit and nothing else.
Sure they collaborate with the Chinese authorities to quell dissent and hamper protestors' abilities to share content (airdrop limited to 10mins, only in china lol). They are happy to work with authoritarian regimes so long as they get cheap manufacturing for their iphones and macs.
Perhaps someone typed an extra zero on her briefing notes. Given the recent uncovering of the Russian agent (Sergey Vladimirovich Cherkasov) trying to get into the Hague court and the uncovering of those two sleepers in Sweden, and Norway's Russian drone man, I'd say the EU commission is riddled with Orclings. More realistically, it looks like she is just slavishly repeating that US general's guesstimate.
I'd say the actual figure might be around 26,000.
Currently, the ratio of losses between Ukrainian and Russian forces in the south amid Kyiv's counteroffensive operation is approximately 1 to 6.5. That ratio could go up to 1 Ukrainian soldier to 8 Russian troops if the war reaches its critical point, Ukraine's Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar said, citing the Commander of Operational Command South Andrii Kovalchuk.
"Andriy Trohimovich told interesting facts about the demoralization of enemy units in the south and increasing enemy losses. The loss rate is about 1 to 6.5. According to him, the critical limit of the loss ratio is 1 to 8, after which the enemy army will psychologically 'fall apart,'" Maliar wrote in a Facebook post.

Tbf it's better American companies move their operations to India instead of china. Any other alternatives?
100,000 killed also likely lost in translation for casualties (which some automatically think as killed).
Tim Cook actually had the galll to tell the US Senate that Apple complies not just with the letter of the law, when it comes to tax, but with the spirit of it also. With the US corporate tax rate at the time of 35% and Apple saying it's Irish abetted tax avoidance scheme enabled it to only pay somewhere around 2% tax on it's EU derived sales, how do you get off claiming you are abiding by the spirit?
Which is why I suggested Biden whisper in Tim's ear, to give him the incentive to go against his base nature and explain the real politik to Modi.
Given the nature of corporate lobbying in the US, its far more likely that Tim Cook whispers in the presidents ear than the reverse.
And even if it DID lose 100'000 officers, where is the " part-mobilization" of 300'000 replacements, which Russian introduced to replace losses far less than 100'000? Nope, I don't believe for one minute that Ukraine has lost 100'000 soldiers, there's a mix-up somewhere along the line.
The grim statistics say that thousands of Ukrainians are reaching the age of 16 every week, so they can be called up.
Unlike Russia, I don't think Ukraine has any recruitment problems, if I remember right, earlier on they had so many volunteers that they had to stop the recruitment as they were unable to process the nrs applying.
Vietnam, Thailand or Malaysia.
