Anyone that takes on a large strong energetic breed dog should be walking, running, entertaining it for hours each day to meet its needs. Plus training, socializing, medical and other needs are also required.
This doesn't apply only to large breeds. It basically applies to any breed of the dog. You have to invest time, attention etc. !! If people are not ready to do that, then is better to forget about getting the dog and get teddy bear instead. Simple.
I stand corrected. Don't shotguns have solid slugs, or are they illegal here?
Ps I know nothing about guns.
I like how you ignore all but the first comment.
And thats why we pay €120 each week to have our little muttie walked while we are at work. Plus evening walks by ourselves, overnight sitters when we are away, extra costs for dog friendly hotels, extra costs for pet friendly cabins when we go to Spain and France. So please don't anyone tell me the effort, work, responsibity, cost and love that goes into owning a dog, big or Small !
Lad who appears to have owned this dog should be put behind bars for twenty years min.
Because it’s irrelevant, and based on a conditional I don’t satisfy.
Dogs like pit bulls were bred for one specific purpose and as such should not be kept as pets. Their nature is deeply ingrained in them and regardless of how good the owners are, there is always a high risk they can attack, never mind when under the custody and Control of the fuckin scrotes that seem to own them as some kind of badge of honour. While the same can be said for alot of breeds, few other dogs have the capacity or capability of such savage attacks.
The priority should always be about saving the lives of innocent children, not armchair philosophizing about the beauty of pit bulls within the natural world.
That kid was almost killed, yet you are spending all your time criticising everyone on this thread bar the dog and its owner.
And for the record, nobody here as argued for the "mass murder" of pit bulls. You're arguing against yourself, in a meaningless mess of irrelevance whilst everyone else is concerned for the kid and ways to prevent this kind of sickening attack from happening again.
Get your priorities straight for God's sake.
It's not difficult to understand, you were lucky the animal responded well to you, it could just as easily tossed you onto the ground like a ragdoll
It's not really about the luck. Shows more experienced owner, who looks after the animal properly.
By the logic of some on this thread, we should get rid of horses too, because I can tell you, they can kill you faster than any dog you can come up with.
You walk down the street with a loaded gun with potential to kill, you get charged, might get convicted and worst case a suspended sentence.
You walk down the street with a dangerous out of control animal, with potential to kill, you get ignored by the law, or worst case a warning
You drive down the street with no tax on your car, you go straight to court, criminal conviction, possible jail, a criminal record which could affect your future career.
Good to know our law serves to protect.
did you cry genocide in this thread with reference to dog breeds?
68 thousand posts of that kind of shite is a failure of moderation
I'd say he/she was just pointing out stupidity of some posts on this thread..
Nah. These dogs are not bred for warm and cuddly purposes. They are a lethal weapon and should not be regarded any different to firearms etc
It's illegal to have that dog on the loose. Cops should have shown initiative and shot it on sight.
How do we know the child is innocent and was not provoking the animal?
All you seem to provide here is a grandstandy post begging for internet points.
And your whataboutery, laughable.
read the thread if you missed the posts I’m referring to, including yours - you have a habit of forgetting what you e already said.
The child? Provoking?
Explain please. I'm sure your response will be ever so informative.
How do we know the child is innocent?
You're now moving on to attack a 9-year old kid who at the time was playing football?
Utterly ridiculous.
That dog should have been muzzled and on a leash, irrespective of any other factor.
The culpability lies with the owner, and that owner should - at the very least - pay for all medical expenses the child may need to endure, as well as a healthy custodial sentence for creating the conditions that allowed this avoidable incident to take place.
You can continue to attack the child and defend the pit bull and its owner all you wish, but it's utterly despicable stuff.
Good lord. There's always one.
Do you think there’s a reason the dog mauled this child, and no other child, in the neighborhood?
We have the word of children what happened according to the article in the OP.
Therefore I see no reason to insert that the child is “innocent” when that is neither relevant or truly knowable here. Stick to the fact, an untrained dog from a strong fighting breed attacked a human child nearly killing him.
The goal of ascribing him as innocent in the post was to spice up the sensationalism of the story, to drive a hateful rhetoric against a specific breed of dog hoping to ban its existence (ie. Genocide)
Did the pit bull take off his own muzzle to attack the child?
Of course not. There was no muzzle nor leash to speak of, and it seems the owner was nowhere to be seen either.
You're talking nonsense. Give it up.
And as for your talk of "genocide", Jesus...just when I thought the quality of your posts couldn't sink any further.
genocide
/ˈdʒɛnəsʌɪd/
Learn to pronounce
noun
noun: genocide; plural noun: genocides
the deliberate killing of a large number of people from a particular nation or ethnic group with the aim of destroying that nation or group.
Nice grandstanding but if you drive down the street with no tax either you'll get a fine or you'll get the car seized and a fine. You'll.only go to court if you don't pay the fine and you certainly won't end up in jail as a result of no tax alone.
Theres really no point in getting into the errors in your other made up situations.
The situation is bad enough without the need to make up false outcomes to your scenarios. The laws need to change to provide more power for Gardai to deal with these incidents. A court order from a judge to have a dog destroyed generally comes after the fact and Gardai can't just seize/put down dogs on the say so of someone else who claims a dog was loose or claims a dog is dangerous.
You don't go straight to court for not having tax on a car, stop talking sh1te.
It was the first time the dog attacked?
Car taken off you and crushed, no more car or danger.
Pin the blame on the boy with life long scars and other issues, rather than on the crap owner? Seriously? Give yourself a pat on the back for such an outlook on life.
Which piece of legislation allows Gardai to shoot loose dogs again?
missing the point: I neither assign blame nor innocence to the child, they’re not on trial here.
It’s not irrelevant though that you’re comparing what are known safe breeds of dog to be kept as domestic pets vs ones known to be dangerous, which have caused harm to numerous people on a semi regular basis at best.
You can like dogs and admit some breeds are not safe and are unnecessary. They are, as you would say, irrelevant.
Are you seriously suggesting that the child is in some way to blame? What planet are you on to even begin to form that notion in your head.
A car isn't a danger because it has no tax.
Again, Gardaí don't have the power to put down a dog on there own say so and not on the say so of someone making a complaint
