Yes…… time for change….badly needed.
Lovely intro from Ronan today, reading out the names of the deceased from Creeslough and into Paul Brady's Homes of Donegal
He’s doing very well so far. I do hope he’ll liven things up a bit though after the break.
Just a brilliant song that by Kevin Johnson. Fitting tribute to Val.
Yes!
Yes!!!
WTF!
I think you should explain, Heidi. You appear to have startled the Brenner. I hope he hasn't torn himself a new one.
Close enough Breener…… close enough.
He's on ignore, for the sake of my sanity.
I'm sure he can figure it out for himself, seems to have the rest of the radio world sorted (in his own head 🙄)
You were leaning against the corner of the tumble dryer?
Happy Birthday Jon Anderson! Did he play some Yes? Heard Jon and Vangelis at the top of the show, but had to turn off soon after.
No YES sadly. I was hoping he’d play YES too.
He did play Yes! Hence my post!!
Ronan's obsession with The Beatles can be a bit overpowering. Any reason used to play them or individual members. The 21st anniversary of George Hsrrison's death is today's excuse.
They were quite good.
Lots of worse stuff to be obsessed with. I was quite happy to hear twobGeorge songs. More of that.
Ronan got a nice dig in at Ray Darcy. Someone texted in to say that RTE Radio 1 wasn't working online and could Ronan ask Ray to.press the right button, to which Ronan replied "Miracles take time, but it will take Ray longer than that" or similar.
Heard that myself...Ray must be a laughing stock down the rte canteen
Ronan Collins will be hanging up his headphones after his show on Friday December 23rd.....
RC confirms final show on 23rd December.
Ronan has just announced that he is finishing up on his show on 23rd December.
Ronan finishing up for good on 23rd December. Any favourites for the slot?
will Louise Duffy bringing her tired Today FM playlist
ronan sounds a bit hoarse, i wonder if he had to fight his case to remain on
In fairness, Ronan has been sounding a bit ropey this past while. Good luck to him. I know some here say he's just been playing the same sort of stuff for ages but at least it's listenable, unlike the crap you get from 0900-1000 Mon-Fri. Wonder will this be the last year of the Oh Holy Night festival.
Ronan out the gap on the 23rd. Sad face indeed.
Ah that's sad news, a fine long career no doubt. I liked his little traditions.
There'll be no shortage of potential takers for his slot if RTE don't use his retirement as an opportunity to rejig the daytime schedule.
Definitely the end of an era.
Best of luck to Ronan and thanks for the memories.
Hmm, "not retiring" "not leaving rte"..... a weekend show maybe?
D'Arcy must have thrown a wobbler over this and got Ronan the boot!!!
